[Helen] Thomas to White House: End Fox fight
The Hill ^ | 10/19/2009 | Tony Romm

Posted on 10/19/2009 6:19:06 PM PDT by markomalley

Veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas on Monday advised the Obama administration to stand down and avoid fighting with Fox News and its correspondents.

In an interview with MSNBC, the columnist -- who is promoting her new book on presidents and their campaigns -- also stressed the White House ought to "stay out of these fights."

"They can only take you down. You can't kill the messenger," said Thomas, who has covered every president from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama.

Whether the White House takes her advice, however, is another story. Just this weekend, Senior Adviser David Axelrod charged Fox was "not really a news organization." And Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel twice insinuated the channel was a danger to the craft of journalism itself.

“It’s not a news organization so much as it has a perspective, and that’s a different take," Emanuel told CNN's "State of the Union," a line he echoed in principle on CBS later in the day. "And more importantly, it’s important not to have the CNN’s and the others of the world being led and following Fox, as if what they’re trying to do is a legitimate news organization."

The White House is trying to keep their hos in line. They are afraid that the lure of higher ratings might convince a few to venture out on their own. Alexrod and Emanuel are just letting them know how bad they'll get smacked around if they try it.

The old pro Helen is just trying to let them know they don't have to threaten them as they know who they are working for.

The gorgon is just trying to give the leftist Executive branch some helpful advice to ensure it’s long term survival. She’s not really concerned about the whole principle of the Obama regime’s intimidation of it’s media critics. It’s just inconveniencing the implementation of the statist agenda.

“It’s not a news organization so much as it has a perspective...news organizations which disagree with the left aren't real news organizations, blacks who disagree with the left aren't real blacks, women who disagree with the left aren't real women - this is real arrogance and insult......

Whether the White House takes her advice, however, is another story.

The White House will bypass considering her advice, and instead, summon her for end-of-life-counselling.

Emanual and Axelrod are both tell the “controlled media” pundits that Fox is not really a news organization. Emanual and Axelrod work for President Barry. Fox news exposes the truth about communists, socialists, and corrupt activists serving the President. We’re supposed to believe the WH spin and look the other way. How do these media poeple sleep at night? Who are they? What happened to the truth? What will happen to America? What will happen to the world?

She then said: “You will pay the price for your lack of vision” and proceeded to throw lightning bolts.

As liberal as the people at the other news networks are, they recognize that the White House won’t stop with Fox. They know how much pressure has been put on the networks to run Obama’s speeches, how difficult this administration has been to work with.

At some point, a couple frogs will try to jump out of the pot of increasingly warm water.
