On Tuesday, another prominent media member challenged the White House strategy of attacking the Fox News Channel.
This time up at the plate was ABC's Jake Tapper who asked White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs during today's gaggle:
It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one?

I’m on it a lot at work since my work is news, but even then I don’t see a lot of the stuff on here.
There’s just way too many threads in all the assorted forums.
If Fox News is not a real news organization, then why hasn't the White House pulled their press credentials? Why is Major Garrett still coming to the daily briefings?

Correct. If there are bailouts for journalism Fox won't get them. Nor any Fox News radio station or other kind of affiliate.
There will be other losses, too, that we don't even know about but that the FCC will dream up out of whole cloth.
I agree with you that this is not just an arbitrary hissy fit.
They have plans. They always have plans (except for Afghanistan and other proper work the POTUS is supposed to do.)
Because unlike you guys, they carry big news stories that we tell all of you to ignore.
Gibbs is such a dull tool.

There is no difference other than that Obama lives in North America and Chavez lives in South America. They both live in the Western Hemisphere and they are kissing cousins when it comes to their beliefs. Chavez just has a head start on Obama.
This is the approach that all of the major dictators used to keep the people that were about to be crushed in enlightened darkness. We are about in the same place that the Chinese were before Mao killed 80 million or so of the population, and about in the same place the Russians were before Stalin eliminated 50 or 60 million of his countrymen. I wonder if anyone that died under the 3rd Reich brutality thought that they would be safe if only they kept silent when Hitler started his pompous strutting? Does anyone think that this Kenyan and his henchmen will hesitate to kill 50 or 100 million of us when it suits their purpose?

When an overtly aggressive government decides what words mean and what terms mean, it won’t be long before the are saying MSNBC, CNN and even ABC do meet the criteria for being a news organization, under terms the White House spells out.
The word for today is: “SUBJECTIVE”

I love the idea that when I’m watching Beck and O’Reilley, these little reptilian hacks in the WH are also watching. My fantasy is that they may actually learn something and maybe, deep down, start to question . . .
He was on CNN, so he didn’t have nearly the audience he does now on Fox News.

The event's purpose will be to bring focus back to the manufactured agenda, e.g. health control and carbon taxes.

This regime cannot afford attention to be focused on itself.
