Ah...What a difference a few months makes! Poor Ida went from human ancestor to just an old critter. But Ida would make a good house pet for Ardi.
Now that the Ardi lemon has been squeezed almost dry it's time for something else to crawl out of the boneyard. Or rockpile or something.

It seems like you can hardly toss a stone anymore without hitting a “missing link” and yet it is still missing!

I don’t know why people who subscribe to this stuff bother to waste so much of their time on a “missing link” - it is not like they needed a “missing link” to begin with.

I was merely pointing out that if you want to “just accept” the book of Genesis, you still have to interpret it. And even from a “literalist” point of view, there are multiple ways the book can be interpreted.

From what I’ve read, “yohm” (taken “literally”) can mean a twelve hour period of time, a twenty-four hour period of time, or a long, indefinite period of time.

Aside from that, it’s also generally not possible to correctly understand the meaning of the Bible unless you understand the context in which a passage was written and then ask the question of what it means in your context. This is one of the most fundamental and widely-accepted principles of understanding the Bible.

I think it all has to do with the fact that they would feel alot safer in their denial of Genesis if they could just find some substantial proof.

Well it seems to me that the criticism of being open or closed minded about this is opposite of what the missing link people make it out to be,

As a Roman Catholic I am taught that even if there is a missing link that does not prove there is no God. So that to me seems pretty open minded.

Yet the evolution people *must* find a missing link and never give a moment to any alternative.

I guess looking for their missing link keeps them plenty busy and we should be thankful for that - lol!

The belief in evolution is as set in as they are currently trying for the belief in global warming to be. Same mechanisms. Whatever cover ups, frauds and lies that are necessary, the educational system will try to make sure that they happen. As long as they do it consistently, pervasively and long enough it becomes entrenched and must be true, right?

I think you'll find many of the "claims" made about Ida were made in the media.....but I like this guy:

Jorn Hurum of the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway, an author of the Ida paper, said he welcomed the new analysis.

Darwinius is an example of a group of primates called adapoids, and "we are happy to start the scientific discussion" about what Ida means for where adapoids fit on the primate family tree....
