Swine Flu Cases Overestimated? [INTENTIONALLY BY DHS]
CBS News ^ | Oct. 21, 2009 | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 10/22/2009 5:07:07 AM PDT by cmj328

In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases. The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?

Some public health officials privately disagreed with the decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains.

...On Aug. 4, CBS News asked the CDC for e-mail communications to states and other documents regarding the guidance and its rationale. When CDC did not provide us with the documents, such as state-by-state numbers prior to halting testing and tracking, we filed a Freedom of Information request with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). More than two months later, the request has not been fulfilled.

...We asked all 50 states for their statistics on state lab-confirmed H1N1 prior to the halt of individual testing and counting in July. The results reveal a pattern that surprised a number of health care professionals we consulted. The vast majority of cases were negative for H1N1 as well as seasonal flu, despite the fact that many states were specifically testing patients deemed to be most likely to have H1N1 flu, based on symptoms and risk factors, such as travel to Mexico.

...With most cases diagnosed solely on symptoms and risk factors, the H1N1 flu epidemic may seem worse than it is. For example, on Sept. 22, this alarming headline came from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.: "H1N1 Flu Infects Over 250 Georgetown Students."

DHS and the Obama administration WANTED this
govt-iatrogenic epidemic because they left the
borders open, and then did NOTHING.

Someone suggested yesterday that they are telling people who had the flu they really didn’t have the flu to convince them get them to get the vaccine shot. That way they can say they prevented a huge number of deaths (from a not-so prevalent and not-so deadly illness).

Sounds like obama to me.

I’m pregnant and my doctor was very insistent that the H1N1 vaccine should be taken by all pregnant women because the odds of dying from the vaccine are less than the odds of dying from flu. Well...except the shot’s not available yet, so how do they know what the odds are of dying from it? I got a regular flu shot, and she said the H1N1 is manufactured the same way, they just use that strain of the virus. I’m still deciding. She also said if someone in my family gets the flu, or if I do, to come in right away to get Tamoxifen, or whatever it’s called. I don’t trust the news at all, and I don’t actually trust any doctor, either...I can’t even say that I trust the internet less than a doctor, because there are too many things that a doctor can miss.

Never let a crisis go to waste. And if you don’t have a crisis to work with, create one.

I have no idea what to believe coming from this administration. First they say don’t bother testing. Now they say get the vaccine even if you were told you had H1N1 because it probably wasn’t really H1N1??
Uh...Thanks but no thanks!!!

For what it’s worth, I would go with your doctor and get the vaccination when it’s available. In my mind, this is primarily because the flu does seem to hit pregnant women especially hard.

I am probably as reticent as you about the state of knowledge, but if given the choice between a pro-active stance and a passive one, I would go pro-active. You will probably have commentary to the contrary and I hope considering both viewpoints will help bring you to a decision with a positive outcome.

All the best for you and your future little one.

My advice, don’t. When in doubt, don’t. The times that I’ve let myself get talked into doing something I saw “red flags” about, I’ve always regretted. When I’ve stuck with my guns, even though once or twice it has been the wrong decision, I could live with it.

Wash your hands, avoid people who are sick, eat well and get plenty of rest. That’s better than any vaccine, imo.

It makes me wonder just what is in the vaccine that they want us to get it regardless of everything else. Just get the vaccine.

Makes me nervous.

With the cases being reported are people actually getting it from the FluMist nasal spray which has live virus in it? Seems like the virus showed up and the flu season started awful early this year. Reported outbreaks following in the wake of FluMist nasal vaccine distribution.

supposedly this nasal form is a “live” virus one and those getting it are capable of “shedding” the virus and afflicting others—
most likely what they want to happen.

Though I’m not pregnant, I do have asthma - the last dr. appt. my hubby had - doc went on and on about how hubby, son, and I MUST have the H1N1 vaccine because of my asthma... blah, blah... If this hits our community, the town will shut down, no power, no water... blah blah... this one kills... blah blah

Total hype of worse case scenario.

So much of the H1N1 is hype, but for pregnant women, you have to be especially careful... I’d be tempted to get it if I were pregnant, but I don’t know....

All I can say is pray about it.

What this whole thing boils down to is who does one trust? The government? Or God who built our body’s with an immune system?

I am a school nurse and it has been crazy. Parents have lost all common sense.
People who have compromised health/immune systems should consider the support of a vaccine but good grief...for most people this flu will be like typical flu. Of course it’s not fun, but we’ll be just fine in a few days.
Fevers, sore throats, aches and pains are our immune system doing it’s job fighting the disease.

Good advice in general, yet as I understand it, most flu viruses are airborne.

I can only speak for myself and say, I got the standard flu vaccine, but will pass on the H1N1 shot for its general lack of testing and that I wouldn't trust the government - especially this administration - at all. Though of course you're the pregnant one.... Congratulations for that!

That you seem to have an investigative frame of mind is a very good thing.

All the best, and God Bless You and Yours....

I have no idea what to believe coming from this administration.

If this administration told me the sky is blue and the grass is green, I'd go check.

Of course, SeeBS has about the same level of credibility with me along with the rest of ABCNNBC(BS).

Cessation of testing in all but some hospitalized cases in some jurisdictions has left an incomplete data set, relying solely on symptomatic interpretation for an estimation of the number of cases.

The entire outbreak has been mind-bogglingly ineptly handled from the start, and at this point the only reason for the furror I have been able to surmise is the possibility that the vaccine contracts for a disease which is commonly not severe have been let as a 'gimmie' to buy the silence of the providers on the looting of the remainder of the healthcare sector, including the insurance providers.

As this administration is populated with people who have either verbally expressed or directly (through their actions)shown contempt for the rule of law, I can only infer that the actions of the administration are either criminal in nature or designed to facillitate criminal enterprise, namely the organized and thorough looting of the American economy.

They over-inflated cases so as to make the CFR - case fatality rate - look smaller. It was actually to make people think it’s not very bad, while it continues to spread (and who knows the real numbers).

If there are supposdly “millions” of cases and only say 1500 dead, the CFR is small. That’s what they want people to think.

Time will tell what is really happening. With the CDC obfuscation, hiding numbers, and downright lying, it is difficult to impossible to know the actual situation.

Did the doctor tell you to take the nasal vaccine?

Pregnant women can’t take the nasal vaccine. That’s also the one with most of the controversy. The shot is the killed vaccine that’s supposedly (my doctor said) manufactured the same way as the regular flu shot.

Thanks for everyone’s comments. I’d be less hesitant about taking the shot if the anthrax vaccine hadn’t turned out so badly. My husband was in the military at the time and refused it. They kept saying it was safe, nothing to worry about, etc.
