Last I checked, the Soviets did not hang Darwin posters on the wall. Darwin was not a core element of their political belief system. He wasn't central for the Nazis, either. Genocide happened long before Darwin came around.

And yet evolutionism is clearly foundational to both Nazi 'master race' ideology and Marxist political thought. Neither could have existed without evolution as a foundation. The communists in particular made it a point to champion evolutionary beliefs and suppress dissenters, even making embarassing and damaging mistakes (Lysenkoism) in doing so. We can conceive of other political expressions of evolutionary belief (such as the morally unfettered capitalism of Spencer), but that would be equally ugly for humans if ever instituted.

To paraphrase Chesterton on evolution, you can get multiple bad political ideologies from evolutionism, but you cannot get any good ones. The American republic was squarely founded on a biblical creationary worldview that taught that men have rights because God is creator and gives them, and to the extent that worldview has been lost so have our freedoms.

Scientific Proof and the Debate Between Evolution and Creationism

Understanding how science works also is critical to understanding the seemingly never-ending debate between those who support evolution and those who support creationism. The debate typically devolves (no pun intended!) into the argument by creationists that scientists cannot prove that evolution has occurred; therefore, their hypotheses of creationism are equally valid. Hypotheses regarding numerous aspects of evolution have been posed and tested. As testing has winnowed out incorrect ones, our understanding has become ever more clear. As with electrons, knowledge of the precise nature of evolution will undergo constant refinement, but the total current weight of scientific evidence supports the existence of evolution. As scientists, we do not arrive at that conclusion out of capriciousness or because of a “leap of faith,” but rather because of the systematic process for understanding physical reality called the scientific method. In fact, anyone who supports evolution because of faith or belief is not using scientific rationality.

Several arguments posed by creationists do constitute hypotheses and therefore are falsifiable. The hypothesis that the Earth is no more than 10,000 years old has been proposed numerous times, but refuted in many ways. Conversely, alternative hypotheses that the Earth is much older have been repeatedly supported. Indeed, today the weight of evidence overwhelmingly suggests that the Earth is billions of years old. Unfortunately, many other arguments posed by creationists are not falsifiable and therefore cannot be addressed using scientific inquiry. How can we falsify the hypothesis that God or an Intelligent Designer created the major forms of life on Earth? Creationist theories that cannot be refuted represent a particular world view, but they are not science. These theories can be taught in schools as philosophy or religion, but they must not be taught as science, unless the instructor uses them to demonstrate to the class what is and what is not science. http://agbiosafety.unl.edu/science.shtml

Another example of how a puddle fits perfectly into just about any hole in the path.

“Evoloutionism” is not the foundation of anything except itself. AKA: Science. Get over it.

“That means a lot coming from someone who compares American Christians to the Taliban.”

Do you include Catholics in your definition of Christians?

you have stated unequivocabally that you do not believe in a 6 thousand year old earth.

The datching schemes used by evolosers are total garbage and my GUESS as to the age of the Earth would be somewhere from in the range of 200K to about 2M years; I am totally convinced that nobody has anything better THAN a guess as to the Earth's age.

I also assume that our living world in its present configuration is around 6K years as per the bible. Midrashim and Amerind petroglyphs amongst other evidence indicate that there were at least leftover dinosaurs walking around at a time just prior to the flood but I would assume that the true age of dinosaurs was more like 10K - about 50K yeas back. In particular I don't picture humans living around raptors without automatic weapons.

Newt Gingrich once stated the problem of evolutionism and morality

Do you often cite serial adulterers as authorities on morality?

Correction: I called you speciffically, a member of the "new christian taliban" whose only goal is to drag everyone back onto the 7th century.

At least you could get your lame lies and insults straight.

Oh, and there are about 200 members of the sobriety pinglist, and you really don't want them all on your case.

A rather fascinating claim, given that The Communist Manifesto was published over a decade before On The Origin of Species, and given that Hitler's viewpoints were largely shaped by Teutonic Pagan mythology.

“the Nazis took Darwin’s idea and crunched it down as the motor behind one of the most evil ideas of our time”.

I guess continuing to tell this lie, even in God's name, is OK? The Nazis didn't take 'Darwinism' or any evolutionary theory- at that, Hitler completely denounced Evolution in Mein Kempf saying:From where do we get the right to believe that man was not from the very beginning what he is today. A glance in Nature shows us , that changes and developments happen in the realm of plants and animals. But nowhere do we see inside a kind, a development of the size of the leap that Man must have made, if he supposedly has advanced from an ape-like condition to what he is’ (now)

He was an occultist (read up on the Thule Society) who believed in a pantheon of gods who created separate classes of people. The 'purity'(sic) that Hitler also seeked to achieve actually is the antithesis of evolutionary growth as the latter functions best with diversity, not inbreeding.

Continuing to bring this up makes me wonder if that side of the debate has some trolls planting these lies just to encourage loss of credibility (see Godwin's law).

Time to go find your wagon.

Knock off that crapola. FR is not about bashing those who have gone sober in order to try and score your own personal debating points.

At some point you simply must do your own research.

Origin of the Species was published in 1859 while the Communist Manifesto was published in 1848. Do you see how that confounds your construction above?

Marxism precedes Darwin's theories, so Marx's theories cannot possibly be the foundation of an as yet unpublished theory.

When you suggest a causal relationship between two things, it is useful to check their temporal relationship as well.

If you have specific issues with a specific post, raise them - although some will be acted on and some will not - you wanted your threads in the news forum, realize that having them located here means much more open guidelines than the Relgion forum.

But mocking someone's sobriety is NOT something we want on FR. Period.
