Any older GM vehicle (around 2006 or older) with the analog-only On Star is not vulnerable (as well as, of course, having a useless On Star).

GM has showed no interest in providing upgrade On Star modules for these older vehicles.

Not true. They sent a letter that we took to the dealer to upgrade from analog.

That would bee 2003. Our ENVOY had the older analog and GM sent us a letter offering to disble it. my 06 pickup has the newer digital model. It can be disabled by pulling a couple of fuses I’ve been told.

That generation of controller used analog cellular with an in-band 202 modem. When analog cellular was turned off, these units became useless boat anchors. There's a good Motorola GPS module inside if you want to scavenge parts.
