Conservative congressional candidate Doug Hoffman says he will champion a flat tax "for IRS weary Americans," if elected.

"The flat tax makes economic sense, accounting sense and common sense," Hoffman said in a statement. He held a press conference in front of the IRS building in Syracuse to announce his stance on the issue.

Wow, I am actually impressed again with this candidate. I guess Armey may have had something to do with this, but this is a good call for the national grass roots.

I do hope that Hoffman shores up his support at home with some research on local issues and good conservative solutions for those issues as well.

Has everyone seen this: “The Most Important Number in Politics Today.”

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.

There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year. Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I support Doug Hoffman for Congress (PayPal).

Please, spread the word about this important election on November 3, 2009 in New York’s 23rd congressional district.

Fair tax yes. Flat tax, what’s the point. We’d still have to keep records, fill out forms be subject to audits and the millions of tax laws that even the IRS can’t give you a straight answer on.

Flat tax is FAIRER....EVERYONE NEEDS TO HAVE SOME SKIN IN THE GAME...>EVERYONE......15-20%. There would be MANY ways to get around paying the “Fair Tax”.

Do only what supposedly the reps said they would do, support the letter of the Constitution and we wouldn’t need any tax.

Oh, yeah, I forgot. Constitution=dead letter.

Gingrich and Armey and company blocked real tax reform for a decade. I’m sorry to see Doug Hoffman following their phony flat income tax line.

If you go out into the pasture, find a big juicy cow pie and flatten it, it’s still a cow pie, and it still stinks.

It’s going no where, but at least he has a notion of thinking which makes the GOP canidate( Scuzzafava ) look like a tree stump.

Glad to see Hoffman isn’t a fan of that big swindle FairTax idea.

You fair taxers are insane in the membrane. How do you think they are going to calculate social security and medicare taxes under your scheme? Doing away with the income tax still leaves you with two federal withholdings. you create a NEW fed tax and accomplish nothing. Abolish the IRS? So? They’ll just rename it something else.

I want a national sales tax, the repeal of the income tax amendment and the abolition of property taxes. Someday this will be done. Right now, with Americans so enamored with the marxist income tax, a flat tax is at least a step in a better direction.

No, not at all. The original income tax was essentially a flat tax. One form-—pretty much one page. No corporate separate taxes. Lowest bracket paid 1.5%, top paid 6%. That I can tolerate. Yeah, I’d take the fair tax, but I don’t like ANY system that “gives out money” as it’s first step, as the fair tax does, and I don’t like businesses collecting taxes (and I understand they do that now).

They are done away with also. All taxes upon income gone. And with it Karl Marx thrown out the window.

flat tax is, by definition, more fair than any other form of government duty. IF everybody pays.

If we truly wanted a consumption tax, why not put a tax on imports? Isn’t that what we did in the early days of the USA? That way, you are taxing consumption, but you are doing so in a way that encourages manufacturing at home. Which ought to encourage jobs at home. Why tax consumption at the retail level, which only hurts us, when we could tax consumption at the wholesale level and help our trade imbalance with foreign nations?

What about all the businesses under your scheme? They don't have to keep records and submit forms? They are the tax collectors! You don't think they'd be audited? You are dreaming!

Gingrich and Armey and company blocked real tax reform for a decade.

Wasn't Dick Armey a strong proponent of the Flat Tax? I'm sure I'm correct.

IIRC he set the figure at around 11-13%, NO deductions.
