American heavy metal band Metallica has stumped up 50,000 dollars in reward money for a fan who disappeared at one of their concerts, a campaign website said Monday.

Police have been searching for blond-haired, blue-eyed Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, 20, since she went missing from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, Virginia on the evening of Saturday, October 17....

"The Band Metallica is also adding an additional 50,000 dollars to the reward bringing it to 150,000 dollars for Morgan's safe return or information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Morgan's disappearance," it said.

Metallica has also posted an appeal on its official website along with photos of Harrington under the headline, "One Of Our Fans Is Missing."

"Morgan has blond hair and blue eyes, is 5'6", 120 lbs., and was wearing a black 'Pantera' T-shirt, black skirt, and black boots," the ad said....

Here what we have heard:

She called her friends about 9:30PM and told them she was locked out of the venue and could not get back in. She was going to try to find her way home. She left the arena to have a smoke. They found her purse and cell phone in the parking lot with the battery missing from the phone (GPS?)

That is a big reward - good for Metallica, but this does not sound good. I think I saw her parents interviewed on Greta or somewhere.

I lost a girlfriend at a Van Halen concert in ‘82. Never saw her again, well except when she came by to get her cat. I still miss that cat.

It is really unbelievable when you see the stats of the amount of people that go missing every year, some run away, some are found, some are never seen again. Scary evil people out there.

Did you tell her to take off the Van Halen T-Shirt before she jinxes the band and they break up.

It is really unbelievable when you see the stats of the amount of people that go missing every year, some run away, some are found, some are never seen again.

Especially adults. When children get abducted by strangers (which, contrary to media sensationalism, isn't really that often) the police get involved immediately. When adults go missing, it can take a while before law enforcement gets involved with valuable investigative time getting lost in the process. Some jurisdictions won't even file a missing adult report until several days have passed because so many "missing" adults voluntarily disappear. They run away from bad marriages, bad debts, personal demons, etc...

That doesn't sound like the case here. This definitely sounds like foul play and at this point, I don't think the ending is going to be a good one. There's still a lot of evil people lurking in the shadows. If you go to the various missing children and missing adults databases on the 'net, they're full of people who vanished, in some cases decades ago, and we're never seen from again. Scary stuff to think about people just disappearing without a trace.

Death Magnetic marks the return of their Mojo.

It's very good.

Actually, only a small part of the arena is in Charlottesville. Most of the building is in Albemarle County, and it isn’t clear from the story where the cell phone and purse were found.

“Death Magnetic marks the return of their Mojo.”

I second that. The Judas Kiss and Cyanide are classic Metallica. And I really enjoyed the third Unforgiven song, too. Very operatic, showcases their musical/melodic/story telling talents.

This album is definately returning to their roots, but shows the maturity and transition of the band.
