George P. Bush, or "P" as he's known to some, is thought to be the biggest hope for a fourth generation of Bush family political leaders, with some suggesting that he might run for statewide office in Texas at some point in the next four to eight years. But, as The Daily Beast points out today, any future George P. Bush political ambitions will have to be put on hold as his Navy Reserve unit is set to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in the coming weeks.
Lt. Junior Grade Bush, 33, joined the Navy Reserve in 2007 as an intelligence officer. The Navy recently told him, like thousands of others, that the two ongoing wars required him to go active-duty overseas, potentially in Iraq or Afghanistan. "It's been communicated to me that it's not a question of 'if,' it's a question of 'when,'" Bush told The Daily Beast. "It's just a matter of time." Bush, who said that he was inspired by the service of his grandfather George H.W. Bush as well as former NFL star Pat Tillman, signed up for an eight-year term in the Navy Reserve in 2007. When word got out about his enlistment, Bush told Politico that he was "disappointed" as he'd intended to keep it under wraps, saying, "I was hoping to keep this as confidential as possible. WHO YOU WON'T VOTE FOR
Well, this one, I might consider.
Technically, it’s Jeb’s turn. But I wouldn’t mind skipping ahead to George P.
How many georges are in that family anyway?
I supported and still support President Bush. It’s too bad that some people feel the need to trash him the moment they have an opportunity, as if we are to believe these trashers could have juggled the tasks at hand better than President Bush.
I don’t know enough about “P” to form a decision either way, but I pray that God blesses him as he ships out to serve this nation.
I know, I know. But I will watch with interest. Hey maybe Senator.
“Technically, its Jebs turn.”
No, we don’t have royalty. But kudos to George P.
He will always be my favorite President. I was too stupid to appreciate Reagan.
Pray for America and Our Troops
SR and Jr destroyed much of Reagan's legacy.
What a tragedy.
I guess your sarcasm radar isn’t up and running tonight.
I'll be at the Australian consulate getting my visa.
I totally agree with what you have written—and may God watch over him and all our troops, who are more than ever in harm’s way as the obammy dawdles about leaving them hanging out to die.
W was in the national guard —do you think that was sufficient to make him a good, conservative prez? Are you out of your mind?
How many times do you have to have the chair whisked out from under you?
This is an elite political dynasty we’re dealing with, and they have OBLIGATIONS.
Military service is dandy! But are you naive enough to think this was not a POLITICAL ACT...?
