There is a missing comma in this sentence that would have made the sentence more understandable with respect to Newt's true intent and meaning. Read it with the comma and see if you have a different understanding.
"So I say to many conservative friends who suddenly decided, whether they're from Minnesota, or Alaksa, or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans? I don't think so", he added.
The comma after, " . . . decided, . . . ", I think, gives his statement a different meaning. Not to say that what his true meaning is makes what he says any better.

You have to wonder what he’s thinking. Is there any point to Red & Blue ‘teams’ each made up of a mish-mash of ideologies from left to right? That’s pure insanity. I want to belong to a party that upholds our constitution & stands for FREEDOM. Newt, get a clue!!!

His problem is that he wants to run for President in 2012, but he sees it slipping away by Sarah Palin and the conservative movement. He will run as a Republican and this is scaring the crap out of him as he can't control what is happening.
He is waging the same kind of war on Conservatives that O is on FOX. The more they resist us the worse it gets for them, only they are arrogant to understand how and why they have lost the power.
They still think they are revalent even after seeing the Tea Party rallies and town hall meetings. They can't take credit for any of this and it scares them.
Conservatives!!! the power is now ours, and it feels good.

But he said that her endorsement from the National Rifle Association, her signing a no tax-increase pledge, and her opposition to cap-and-trade and healthcare reform legislation made her "adquately conservative in an upstate New York district." She was all in favor the stimulous plan which no Rep. supported in the House. She had to have her arm twisted to say she's in favor of these things listed above.Newt is either disengenuous or a moron. I think it's the former.

The person who picked her is left of center.Gee thanks, Newt. Great judgment. Did you do your homework or is this just the direction you'd like to see the GOP heading?

Conservatives!!! the power is now ours, and it feels good. If, as I suspect will be the case, the Democrat wins, Conservatives will be blamed and the establishment view will be reinforced.

Real conservative do have that “urge to purge”. Newt was on Laura Ingram the other day. It was very obvious that he just didn’t get it and apparently still doesn’t. He might not be a full-fledged RINO, but he is part of the Republican Old Guard ESTABLISHMENT. Go away Newt, your time has come and gone.

"So I say to many conservative friends who suddenly decided whether they're from Minnesota, or Alaska, or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans? I don't think so," (Newt) added. Last time I checked, Newt doesn't live in the NY Upstate either. So how can he tell everyone else their support of Hoffman is wrong? If Scuzzball had been elected to be the GOP candidate, he might have a point. But she was selected by the party behind closed doors, not by the people in a primary.

Actually in Newts letter of support he stated that she is the new direction of the republican party.......It's hard to retreat from a mistaken strategy if you've already been flushed down the drain, Newt.
We now politely (or not) request that you stand down and go write a book or something.
