The RNC needs to stop getting their political advice from the MSM.
Newt and the RNC RINO’s can go pound sand.
IOW we are back to TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION...
we just have 300 tyrants in DC instead of one overseas.
The best thing that can happen is that Hoffman win over terrific opposition from the RNC that continues right up to election day, especially if Scozz drops out.
Why is Newt surprised that a person can lose a primary and announce themselves as running anyway? Lieberman already plowed that ground and won.
If the party thinks they can send crap out to do the same job as a true candidate they better wake up.
PS. Its the people in the party that should pick who runs , not some overblown, ego wrapped blowhard who thinks they know whats best for those people.
Dont bother sending Huckabee or Romney out for the next Presidency either. We wont stand for it.
In Illinois and alot of other states, we have a one party system. The big spending/taxing Republicans and the bigger spending/taxing Democrats. We don’t need a third party. We need to run conservative candidates in the Primaries—that’s where the decisions are made and where THE PEOPLE need to speak up with their votes.
Local GOP officials DID choose Scozzafava.
It's part of the "big tent" philosophy that the party elites, leftist media, and egghead pundits have been pushing on the American people, hoping to marginalize Conservatives and neuter what's left of conservatism in the party.
Let's not kid ourselves here. This is all an effort to destroy Conservatism in America.
This election may be more important than it seems.
If she drops out it is likely she will “throw her support” to the Democrat.
With the trend showing I would say she needs to fight to the end. When Hoffman beats her outright it will be much better for the conservatives vis a vis the Republican Party.
I don't think I would call NY 23 a "conservative district". It previous congressman was tapped by Obama to be secretary of the Army. And Obama carried the district over McCain.
Conservative?
At this point that is the best thing she could do for the RINOs in the Party. The best thing she could do for the Party's prospects in 2010 and for Conservatives in the party is drop out and enthusiastically endorse the Democrat which she would do before endorsing Hoffman who just pulled the rug out.
I think he sees how McCain won the nomination, and hopes to do the same. So, he’s trying to improve his standing among “independent/moderates.”
then we need to neuter them before they act...volunteer to be a poll watcher ( preferably one with challenge authority )
Maybe. If she did, her future in the local Republican Party would be over.
But I'm not sure that most of the folks currently backing her would vote for Mr. Owens. I think that most of these folks are mostly Republican-label diehards who would quickly switch to Mr. Hoffman.
This isn't a district with 51% willing to vote for a Democrat. The last four elections saw the Republican win (this is from memory, so don't shoot me if I'm off a little) with 65%, 63%, 70% and 100% (when the last incumbent ran unopposed). I just don't see a majority of folks suddenly voting for a Democrat candidate.
But a Democrat can score well into the 30s in this district, and if the Republican and the conservative split the rest of the vote, the Democrat could squeak in.

Perhaps we should see this as a effete elites ham fisted effort to get “women” votes by disrespecting the abortion voters and a way for the Republican GOP SNOBS to court money homosexaual are paying to democrats.
