“If she drops out it is likely she will “throw her support” to the Democrat.”

That is a possibility. If she did that would re-enforce how wrong the RNC and NEWT was.

It’s an optimal time to be “making his move.”
The Conservative media is flexing its muscle and the Tea-Partiers smell victory!!
Wow, it’s starting to get EXCITING.

Newt is a party follower. He did the same thing Bush did when he backed Spector. They don’t back the best person but they go with the local party pick. Party unity over common sense

If Newt was smart, he’d eat humble pie right now and admit he made a big mistake. There’s fire on the prairie, boys.

"And speaking of the Daily Kos they are currently in the process of playing down the lastest Club For Growth poll showing Hoffman surging into the lead. They are basically saying something like: "Please don't believe that Club For Growth Poll because it has a conservative agenda."

Does the Washington Post have a conservative agenda as well? They have also called it a two man race between Hoffman and the Dem.

The best thing for Scozz. The best thing for Conservatives and for the Republican Party(If it can see how it is and if it doesn’t just get purely stubborn in its determination to purge Conservatives, even at the cost of losing elections) is for Scozz to drop out and endorse the Social Democrat.

We don’t need her to drop out and endorse the Republican. That would just keep her in line for Republican openings. We need her to drop out and endorse the Democrat.

McCain won with Independents/moderates and with MSM and Democrats who voted heavily in the Republican Primaries. So long as the Republicans indulge in “open” primaries they are open to that kind of manipulation. It matters less to Democrats. They get a socialist no matter who wins in their primaries. It matters a great deal to the Republicans where the contest involves conservatives and semi-socialists and Bobdoles like McCain who don’t run serious campaigns.

Maybe. If she did, her future in the local Republican Party would be over.

I certainly hope that is the case. I would hate to see her still in line for a Republican or legislative job even after she pulls out or loses the election. I do not want her to support Hoffman at all. She is NOT a loyal Republican and I would hate to see her don that particular mask. The RNC craves that and would love to keep her "viable."

I think the folks at the RNC would be angrier with a Hoffman win than the DNC.

I doubt that. I certainly will be happy if anybody but a rat sits in that seat. I do not trust polls conducted by the Minutemen anymore than I trust polls from the WaPo. I fear Pelosi can add one more seat to the rat House majority...And the media will use this rat win in a rare NY GOP seat and perhaps a win for the NJ Gov, as a buffer against the Governor seat in VA. The media will say the message is good for 0. "Full speed ahead rats."

I can't believe conservatives are going to blow their load on this race. After failing to stop McCain in the primaries and failing to elect Palin. A couple marches and conservatives think that nullifies the 08 elections and we can now afford to throw away congressional seats. Conservatives didn't stop a socialist on the SCOTUS, or the GM take over, and they haven't stopped Obamacare or cap and tax. All the political pull of the T-party power-brokers behind a spoiler. what a shame.

If Owens wins the GOP will hold 2 out of 31 House seats in NY, conservatives will blame the GOP for running a moderate just because a moderate could win, and the GOP will move to the left.

You're right, and so would be all the NY GOP party Bosses - which is why the Party needs to purge the RINO's.
If we could do that, we wouldn't need to have a separate Conservative Party in NYS, distinct from the Republican Party.

If the NRCC pours in $200,000 at the last minute on ads attacking Hoffman, as Politico suggests they may, they might still succeed in throwing the election to the Democrat.

Whoa! Whoa! I've just been catching up on all this... If there is even an inkling the NRCC will attack Hoffman instead of the DEMOCRAT, when Scozzafava is trailing badly in 3rd place... every conservative needs to send a message to the NRCC, now: If you attack Hoffman, we will send no more money to you. What's their e-mail address????

If the race was neck and neck between Scozzafava and Owens, with Hoffman trailing badly, I could perhaps see (but not like) their motive. But, that's not the case.

...successfully holding a statewide office usually demands good judgment.

In Illinois that "good judgement" part seems to usually not apply. "Savvy political and / or criminal judgement", maybe...

the GOP will move to the left.
If that happens, the Republican party is through. The majority of what is generally the most active part of the base will go looking elsewhere.

Ah, yes, the Illinois/Chicago exception, where the qualification for office is the ability to raise the most cash for the most favors.
