Social Upheaval, How Close Are We?

Politics / Social Issues
Oct 24, 2009 - 02:33 AM
By: Michael_T_Bucci

Many authors who have contributed to The Market Oracle have expressed concern - some overtly and some in passing - about the possibility of social upheavals in the US caused by economic dislocations and what impact these events would have on the markets.
How close are we?
An excellent synopsis by Mr Andre Damon of the current status of economic conditions extant in the US and the world on the eve of the G20 conference contains a prescient conclusion: "These different factors set the stage for the inevitable eruption of open social conflict." Having written elsewhere this same conclusion and finding it raised by political writers both on the Left and Right using identical economic and social data and yardsticks, I firmly believe that open conflict MAY BE UPON US and needs only a small (or large, I believe) catalyst to erupt. Hopefully, this won't occur.

Regrettably, the American far-right has hijacked both the minds of workers who would otherwise galvanize behind self-defensive and pro-social agendas, and of Republican moderates and centrists; while the Democrats, Progressives and Left-leaners remain mesmerized and paralyzed in a residual stupor of Obamania (frozen in denial).
President Barrack Obama serves the purpose (knowingly or unknowingly) of neutralizing the center- to left-coalitions whereby the Bush agenda would and did continue without dissent; his administration, however, now is being drowned by assaults from the far-right (paraphrasing Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit's comments about the NPD) who are "daring to do things that endanger our democracy".

Many of these agenda-setters (along with gunners at Obama rallies) are seeking majority rule in 2010 when they should be sought for aiding and abetting insurrection and endangering the life of a President.
Republican moderates and centrists did not stop this momentum, but instead allowed extremists to control their party and vie for future control of America in what seems a "by any means possible" manner. These are critical times for this Democracy.

“You sound resigned to that fact. I will never live under a Pinko government. NEVER. I will leave if people decide to just accept it and we can’t have honest elections to remove them.”

I think more and more citizens of this country are willing to accept a certain amount of socialism. Probably the next generation won’t be as passionate as we are now the same way the majority doesn’t want to abolish Medicare or SS.

Social Upheaval, How Close Are We?

Already happening at a low level:

1) Mexicans driving out blacks from the LA hood
2) Blacks effectively governing inner cities by using racial and class warfare statements—see Baltimore mayor issue
3) Low intensity drug wars in many urban areas slowly spreading into the suburbs
4) Kidnappings occurring in Phoenix
5) Pittsburgh demonstrations last month aimed at capitalism
6) Attempted fire bombing of GOP convention last year by a nutjob in Austin who was turn in by one of his own.
7) Black panthers blocking poll access in Philly
8) Prop 8 ‘demonstrations’ aimed at Mormons and Christians across California with some property damage
9) Gun sales thru the roof for protection
10) a white house administration that barely hides its content at middle America

....we are already in a civil conflict, just how bloody remains to be seen.

Far Right? I don't think the Near Right is happy about conditions either. Apparently, these communists think it is our solemn American duty to lay down and let communism crush us as individuals. Make note of your Leftie neighbors and keep a list...

“Fascism is no friend of free markets and free global trade.”
Yet, this Bozo voted for Obama and is GESTAPO like followers who personally attack private citizens, fire CEOs, declare Jihad on News Outlets. Mr. Pucci Bucci you are an useful idiot.

“Given this charged atmosphere of anger, hate and potential violence that has infected too many Americans against Government, the Federal Reserve, Democrats, fictitiously labeled “Socialists” and social welfare programs, we are at risk of experiencing a controlled, scripted and programmed “Revolution” - not by the Left, but by the Right.”

I guess Mr. Pucci Bucci likes the Black Panthers and ACORN involved with elections. (oh, how blinded you are Pucci Bucci.) And the brilliant Mr. Pucci Bucci has no problem with the “Capitalist” Government taking over 20% of the US economy as it secretly writes the 1,000+ page bill...oh please, Mr. Pucci Bucci, tell me you were drunk when you wrote this drivel.

Words to the editors of “Market Oracle” - you allowed this infantile nonsense to be printed? This reflects quite poorly on your judgment and I will remember this trite the next time I read anything published by you.

The link below is the antidote to this blathering fool.

We need to bust up public education, the media and most, but not all, universities. Leftie impermiation is the problem. Route them out and destroy their careers (just like they do to us). One should be AFRAID to be a Leftie...

This little sh*t needs to learn that the Left has been doing exactly this since the 1960s. Read Alinsky.

The you will simply go to jail, most likely alone ... I’m not trying to be a dufus, it’s just reality. Life is short on this planet in it’s current form, but life is eternal, if the US is stupid enough to go socialist then it simply will. I have my eyes on the eternal prize, and that isn’t the US ...

Frankly, I am already in 'revolution' against our glorious government. Like many others, I cannot figure out a direction (yet) to take that that not only has a big chance of successfully improving the country, but also isn't just wasted, and potentially life threatening wasted, effort.

There are things worth risking life, liberty and wealth over. However this monster is so enormous, has so many layers of putrid corrupt tentacles within broader and even more corrupt power structures, is so bureaucratic in design, while innocuous in the sheer numbers of minor offending participants... where do you start?

Armed revolt on a small scale is worse than useless. It is first off death to the participants, or worse, lifetimes imprisoned. Worst case, wasted effort that leads to more corrupt power gathered to those who abuse it so.

I am in agreement with those who foretell that any armed resistance (from the right) to where the government is taking us will come only as a response to the sheep masses who live on the dole in the cities blowing up, rioting and going wild over any loss of their government care.

The right will never start a shooting war on America. I am still in revolution mode though. Just watching, waiting and counting my options.

If we don’t do this PRONTO when conservatives get back in power - we will have accomplished nothing. This is my biggest concern, that we’ll be so busy rolling back all the other unconstitutional stuff that has occurred the last 40 years that we don’t get around to cleaning out/dismantling the propaganda hierarchy especially public education and universities. If not, they will continue indoctrinating American youth and we’ll be fighting the exact same battle again a few years down the road.

Would you rat out the resistance/freedom fighters if it meant you stayed out of jail?

Don’t take this as an insult please. Just curious.

Charles A. Beard:

"You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence."

Actually, I’d like to flip that to where
elitism is so easily recognized and despised

that no one would even think that it was a
viable position to maintain.

Make “Elitist” have the same sting as “Racist” (used to).

Reagan understood this need but failed to act. Presumably, because of his tenuous hold on a GOP Congress. Bush I blew it by not sealing their fate. Clinton empowered them and Bush II was distracted by 9-11. Its time for a New Conservative to clean house.
