Boeing talks fall apart; S.C. likely to get 787 line
Seattle Times ^ | 10/27/09 | Domonic Gates

Discussions between the Machinists union and Boeing over the second 787 production line for Everett are effectively dead, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. Boeing now appears close to choosing Charleston, S.C., as the location of the second line. The person close to the negotiations said an announcement could come within days. Boeing management has turned down further talks over the potential 10-year no-strike agreement the company had sought, the person said. "The union wants to continue talking," said this source, who is not aligned with the union. "The Boeing Co. does not want to talk any further. "The company is fairly close to being done, if not done already," the person said. Boeing spokespeople could not be reached for comment late Tuesday.

This is what’s so crazy about the people in Ohio, especially in Northern Ohio. They complain about all the manufacturing jobs being lost to China and Mexico, but they ignore the hundreds of thousands of jobs that have left, or will leave for Southern states that have right-to-work laws.

“U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., intervened over the weekend”....

No wonder it fell apart. Good work Libtard Patty!

Expect a renewed push for card-check. The union would have had Boeing over a barrel if Boeing didn’t have a right-to-work state to move production to.

My guess is that within 10 years the Machinist's Union will have effectively erased any Boeing presence in the Seattle area. Sad.

The uniquely American form of a union that destroys its host company has to die.

I hope Ford is paying attention.

I might consider becoming a customer someday if they dropped or neutered the UAW.

Look for one of The Messiah’s czars to step in and mandate the Union, or, at a minimum, do “card check” in the Carolina factory.

It's been interesting to watch: every misstep the union makes, drives more of Boeing out of the region, and they continue to be completely oblivious to their errors.

You'd think that when Boeing moved their corporate offices to Chicago, the union would have stopped a second and thought, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

But no, those morons just keep right on pushing and poking.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Machinist union bosses are not talking to a designated czar right now....

One is hard core union, one just voted to disband the union.

Let us see which way the jobs go...

Time is money, Boeing. Just move. There's no winning with unions.

BTW, if a union has no work, can it basically dissolve?

The top ten best made car list came out yesterday. On the list were the Ford Fusion and its Mercury cousin.
Both are assembled in Mexico.

The stupidity of Union types never ceases to amaze me.

Union: “We’ll shut this place down.”
Company: “Okay”

At the same time the whack left politicians like Patty Murray and Christine Haywire make a token appearance as if their input mattered a damn.

These unions never, ever learn.

My sweetie (a reformed liberal in Chicago) asked me a few weeks ago the biggest difference between liberals and conservatives.

I didn’t cite the usual social issues. Rather, I said:

“Liberals are the only species of humans that cling to their lousy, failed ideas, regardless of the outcome. It matters not how many times they have failed before. Not only that, but once failure is reached, instead of lurching in a different direction....liberals ‘double down’ on their policies. Doubt me? Look at Detroit, NJ, Cleveland, and yes...even your beloved Chicago. It would be impossible to create a more dumb group of human beings if you were given full custody of a laboratory and endless DNA to work with.”

heh...and yes, we’re still together. :)

From the article:

"This economic-development package, along with the decertification of the union in North Charleston, gives the entity all the indicators they need, I hope."

Every working man and woman should jump for joy when hearing these words. Unions, in their modern incarnation, are poison.
