Video: Hoffman Attacked By DCCC, NRCC (GOP ad against conservative Hoffman)
National Review ^ | Oct. 27, 2009 | Guy Benson

Watching these clips back-to-back is simply remarkable. Here we have a mainstream conservative candidate, running in a consistently center-right district, being assailed by both major parties.

The Democrats, recognizing the official "Republican" candidate's slide into the abyss, have turned their fire on viable (front-running?) third-party candidate, Doug Hoffman. Well, hello, politics of personal destruction and shameless class warfare:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15L_TaolOqg&feature=player_embedded

Minor details like Hoffman's humble upbringing (which also shouldn't be an issue), and his lifetime of hard work, are ignored. The success he's earned is used to bludgeon him — which, ironically, reflects the prevailing Democratic position on taxation.

The Republican ad isn't any better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mw7Bzh21DQ&feature=player_embedded

Did they record those voice-overs in someone's garage?

Hoffman once supported civil unions? Outrage! Good thing the actual GOP candidate is rock-solid on that whole marriage issue, right? Oops.

Hoffman doesn't even live in the 23rd district! What a carpet-bagger ... except the charge is misleading and irrelevant.

"Doug Hoffman: Running from himself" is the NRCC ad's tagline. Pitiful. In the NRCC's defense, however, it's still a bit better line than the Scozzafava camp's apparent new rallying cry: "Sprinting towards irrelevancy."

Oh, just to be even MORE clear: “Doug Hoffman may in fact win this with nowhere near the amount of money the two Democrats have. I know there’s a Democrat called a Republican, but we actually have two liberal Obama Democrats, one calling herself a Republican, and you’ve got the Reagan conservative Hoffman in there.” —Rush

Just further proof that both parties consider conservatives the enemy....

From Rush himself,at rushlimbaugh.com:
"Third parties lose. Speaking personally, I am not interested in creating another Reform Party like Perot did, like Buchanan did. It's a losing proposition."

Rush is ignoring the fact we don't currently have a two party system. The OP(formerly the GOP) has been incrementally moving towards a socialist ideology over the years to expand the voter base as is evident with their support of Scozzafava. It has become one big socialist Republicrat party. Another party based on strong Conservative values will be the second party.

Rush,on his show yesterday, said that he thought that a vote for Hoffman wasn’t a good idea because he was a third party candidate.First time I ever disagreed with Rush.

Uh, FRiend, Rush went to great lengths yesterday to specifically say the opposite of that. That this was a special non-third-party situation because there was not a primary.

It is better to vote for the Conservative as opposed to someone simply because they have an R after their name.

See post # 17.....
and in my original post, I had stated that the discussion had to do with Hoffman. I never said that Rush was alluding to primaries, etc.
Let's let it go,shall we?

re: Rush: 'it wasn’t good to go for the third party candidate'

Normally so, because 3rd parties always lose. Rush also never endorses until after a primary, but since this is a special election there has been no primary.

He's seriously behind Hoffman's conservative beliefs compared to the other 2 libs.

It’s time we made it public knowledge that we have disowned these NRCC, down on their knees, surrenderist serf wannabes of the NRCC. Who no more represent Republicans or Conservatives, than Barney Frank represents a human male.

Ok,this is the last post from me on this.
I agree that the comments made by Rush about a third-party candidate specifically referred to Hoffman...I never said anything any different. The comment in post # 17 came directly from Rush's website, and was a transcript of what he said yesterday. That's what he said.I disagreed with him on this one particular point.
Golleee!! Enough already!!

This is a FReply all. Note the information at the bottom of this post. There is an email address and phone numbers for the NRCC. Also, I point out the other special election on November 3rd, out in California. In this election, there is a conservative Republican who won a primary. He is getting no support from the NRCC right now.
NEPA wrote:
We had a similar situation here in PA-10 last year. Don't discount it. Even a couple miles will make a difference to some voters. If they're on the fence it could be the deciding factor. Nothing can be done about it now. I'd like to see Hoffman win but residence is a legitimate issue.
In this NY-23 race, Hoffman’s place of residence is a non-issue to everyone that I have heard from in the district. It isn’t reported much in the local press, either.

The truth is, Hoffman has a business with 5 locations, all are located in the district. Hoffmman’s immediate family has a dozen (maybe more) small businesses, all located within the 23rd district. His family also owns several homes, again, all within the district. If elected, he will live in the district on Wednesday November 4th.

Residency is an issue when outsiders come to a district nd try to get elected. The term “carpetbagger” applies to those kinds of candidates. But in Hoffman’s case, he is known in the district, had deep roots within the district, and anyone trying to say otherwise looks silly when the realities are pointed out.

I support David Harmer for California’s 10th Congressional District (donations). He is a conservative candidate who has been a fellow at the Heritage Foundation and the Cato institute. He is committed to controlling spending, promoting economic growth, and free market solutions to todays problems.

I am also contacting the NRCC to ask why they are supporting Scozzafava in the race in upstate New York, and why they are ignoring David Harmer in this close race in California’s 10th district. Here are the numbers if anyone else wants to call:

Info from the NRCC "contact us" web page:
Contact the NRCC

Address:

320 First Street, SE
Washington, DC 20003

General Email:
website@nrcc.org

Phone:
Phone: 202-479-7000

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

More threads ...
From the desk of
cc2k:
Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th (website for info).

Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district.

Hoffman doesn’t rteally represent a third party, he is the true representative of the Conservative republican Party.

ScuzziFaker is nothing more than the phony option put forth ny the betrayer “leadership” of the RNCC. They are now disavowed as being of us.

The dirty pig Leftist media were crowimng about how the numbers of “self described Republicans has it it’s lowest level”...They didn’t change tjheir POV, they just prefer to be called Conservatives or “Independants< rather than be associated with the incompetant anle grabbers in charge of the GOP, whi have been ruining it for the last 6 or so years.

No we haven’t gone away, and no we don’t tajke orders from the mealy mouthed equivicators running the RNCC. And soon they will be gone.

Also consider calling the NRCC false-flag republicans on the NRCC executive committee directly. These folks can no longer hide behind a faceless organization while they do their dirty work.

Rep. Eric Cantor, VA (third from left); DC office: (202) 225-2815

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, MI (not pictured); DC office: (202) 225.8171

Note: Rep. Mike Pence, second from left, strenuously objected to Scozzafava, and refused to endorse her or send her money. In retaliation, pro-leftist house members like those above anonymously told reporters that Pence isn't supporting Dede because he's anti-woman.

Why NY-23 Isn't a Third-Party Race
This was a special election without a GOP primary.

That is the headline on Rush's site from yesterday. You misunderstood what Rush said.

I think you’re wrong about Cathy McMorris Rodgers. She’s from my district and always votes conservative.
