Watching these clips back-to-back is simply remarkable. Here we have a mainstream conservative candidate, running in a consistently center-right district, being assailed by both major parties.
The Democrats, recognizing the official "Republican" candidate's slide into the abyss, have turned their fire on viable (front-running?) third-party candidate, Doug Hoffman. Well, hello, politics of personal destruction and shameless class warfare:

Minor details like Hoffman's humble upbringing (which also shouldn't be an issue), and his lifetime of hard work, are ignored. The success he's earned is used to bludgeon him which, ironically, reflects the prevailing Democratic position on taxation.
The Republican ad isn't any better:

Did they record those voice-overs in someone's garage?
Hoffman once supported civil unions? Outrage! Good thing the actual GOP candidate is rock-solid on that whole marriage issue, right? Oops.
Hoffman doesn't even live in the 23rd district! What a carpet-bagger ... except the charge is misleading and irrelevant.
"Doug Hoffman: Running from himself" is the NRCC ad's tagline. Pitiful. In the NRCC's defense, however, it's still a bit better line than the Scozzafava camp's apparent new rallying cry: "Sprinting towards irrelevancy."
OTH - Tom McClintock from Southern CA won the election to represent a Northern CA district. His opponents attemtpt to play the carpetbagger card had some effect, but it couldn’t overcome the issues, and political philosophy.
I have some sympathy for the NRCC. After all, their job is to elect republicans (even nominal ones.) However, when they use our donations to attack a conservative, instead of attacking the liberal or promoting their candidate, they cross the line. Meanwhile, Harmer in CA gets little support from the NRCC.
“Does Hoffman live in the district or not? Im sure that would make a difference to a lot of voters.”
Why say you? This is New York who elected statewide for Senator a carpetbagger named Clinton.
Good point! And Clinton isn't the first carpetbagger to be elected in NY.
I certainly don't put Hoffman in the carpetbagger category.
That's what I heard him say as well. BTW, GL, what's with the "1" in the middle of your screen name masquerading as an "l"?
I am in the 23rd-
Go Get-Em Hoffy!
No-no-no, yet another of those juxtapositions!!
It's a splendid example of *bipartisanship*, my friend.
I mean is not Gingrich appearing with Eeewwwwwooooow Howard Dean in Missouri this very afternoon in a show of bipartisan support of Health Deform? Yea. LOL
You heard wrong. Rush has been a very vocal supporter of Hoffman.
You may be confusing Rush with the idiot who was subbing for Rush on Monday, who ignored the polls that were released that day and used a week old Daily Kos poll to bash Hoffman. Rush, then had to spend nearly the entire show yesterday advocating for Hoffman. I expect that the aforementioned idiot (Mark Davis) will not be back as a sub anytime soon.
No, I meant I agreed with ellery’s take that Rush supported the “third party” candidate in this particular case.
My fault. :) Sorry bout that. :)
Any NEWS reports from the NY 23r’d you want to give to let us know how the Hoffman Camp. is going?
Have you heard about any more polls/internals? What are your observations on the ground?
No, it was clear in my mind when I typed it, but after your reply I went back and read my post, and it does come across like you said. Sorry for being unclear.
What’s your take on Hoffman’s chances, as a resident of NY23?
B T T T
Picture is a great idea. That will be an effective way to smoke ‘em out.
Your picture and post is needed here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2373081/posts
Possibly......... but she seems to aligned herself with with the others as has Spence. That causes me to wonder about them all. The old adage that if you lie down with dogs you get up with flees may be appropriate here. Spence definitely surprises me.
Rush never said that. He supports Hoffman. His substitute, Mark Davis, implied he wouldn’t vote for Hoffman on Monday when Rush wasn’t there.
Thank you—done and done!
my 23rd district poll thus far says 1 vote for Hoffman platform, one vote for his name, 2 for 2
