US Senator, MSNBC Libs Admit: "Opt Out Public Option" Is A Scam
Boston Herald ^ | October 29, 2009 | Michael Graham

If you’re familiar with this column, you won’t be surprised that last Tuesday night I appeared on a cable news show where the host ranted about how Sen. Harry Reid’s “opt-out” plan is a scam to foist the public option - and eventually socialized medicine - on the American people.

But you might be surprised to learn I was on MSNBC at the time. With a host who is a self-described “progressive” and hard-core supporter of ObamaCare.

I was on “The Ed Show”, hosted by the painfully earnest “Big Ed” Schultz, doing my part as the “token right-wing nut.” (That’s the unofficial MSNBC euphemism for people whose favorite political philosopher isn’t Chairman Mao).

I was prepared to argue that Reid’s “opt-out public option” was a fake, a fig leaf to provide cover for wavering moderates so they could give President Barack Obama what he and the far left really want - a government-run program that would inevitably lead to a European-style single-payer system.

But before I could make my case, Big Ed made it for me.

“Harry Reid has given Senate Democrats all the cover they need!” he screamed - Ed always screams - at the camera. “This is great move by the Democrats. This is calling out Senate moderates who aren’t too sure about the public option. It’s great move by Harry Reid to put it this way. And it is the first step to single payer. That’s what we progressives want. This is just taking the road to get there.”

When the camera turned my way, all I had to say was “Amen.”

Because there it was, Team Obama’s entire con, laid out for all to see. And it wasn’t exposed by Glenn Beck or a investigative reporter from The Wall Street Journal. It was...

Who the hell is “Big Ed” Schultz?

I’d Google him, but don’t want to see his fat ugly screaming face.

Welcome to the jungle. This is a predatory culture, now, and becoming more so every year. More people will cannibalize whomever they can, however they can. That’s socialism in practice.

As for Graham’s comment: “All this in the face of the latest Gallup poll showing a mere 20 percent of Americans consider themselves liberals - half the number who are conservatives. This is a center-right nation...”

I would beg to differ. Many of those who identified as “moderates” are actually liberals, and many of those actually believe they are merely moderates. They’re moderately socialists. Products of government schools, minds full of mush. A strain we’ve been cultivating for a century or more.

True conservatives, true Americans, are in the minority, and this is NOT a center-right nation. If one needs a show of hands on that point, we had one just a year ago.

Wake up and smell the blood, Mr. Graham.

I suspect you are right. Freepers keep asking me how a state like SC could re-elect Lindsey Graham.....

The states may, indeed, “opt out” of receiving benefits, but they still must pay. Yes, it’s a scam, like everything Barack and the Chicago thugs do.

I saw that clip.

I watch the MSNBC Ed Show every night. He has always been for single payer. But he accepted the public plan (option) as a temporary compromise. So you will see him use market speak ‘provide competition’ in promoting public option to get to a single payer system. Many other single payer progressives have been doing this too.

Whatever Harry Reid and the Democrats want to call it, it's still government-run health care. If you pay taxes today, you know it's not going to be "free", it's not going to be "universal" and it's not going to be "inexpensive" or "widely available".

It's nothing more than a a unconstitutional power grab by an out-of-control Democrat White House and Congress.

If a Liberal tells the truth it is only by accident when means that the Liberal misspoke anyway.

If Liberals told the truth about what they wanted they would not be able to push their agenda like they are.

If Liberals told the truth it would be more cataclysmic than the apocalypse.
