BARK!
BITE!
parent of the year award may be in order.
9 AM.
Parent (singular) was sleeping.
BOTH kids untended.
Worth a harder look into whether someone shares in the blame.
Tragic nonetheless.

Previous story indicated that the toddler wandered away from his babysitter’s house. Probably incompetent reporting, but a strange change in the tale.
In their defense, how many times has a pit bull non-attack made the news?
so lets get this straight. 2 children, 2 and 3, leave their house, walk two houses down, see 2 dogs that are chained up, and go up to the dogs.. and its the DOGS’ fault?
if charges get filed it should be against the mother for neglect.
This is a horrid horrid story but the dogs were in their own yard and chained.
So they go after the dog owner for perhaps a rabies shot violation but do nothing about the parent/ babysitter who let a 2 yo and a 3 yo wander out of a house>
what crap
Moat dogs on a tie up will protect its territory. In fact, it actually makes them more aggressive. But a pit bull on one? Wow. Regardless of whether or not the owner was within the law, the owner is just stupid.
Arkansas...
And yes, the mom should be charged with criminal neglect.
Bingo!
And, if you want to hear more, tune into the ultra liberal Austin, TX news stations that show Pet of the Day/Week. Lots of pit bull and PBmixes at the shelters so they are touting how good these dogs are and that they are only trouble if they are taught to do so!!!
People are walking them in the parks with the muzzle leashes not caring that if they stumble or faint that their dog could injure or kill children.
In some places it’s against the law to keep a dog tethered.
My 12 y/o Collie/St. Bernard is way more vicious than my German Shepherd puppy is, but I just made sure the GS had his annual shots last week on schedule...even though my husband is unemployed right now and we really couldn't afford it... because I know people are afraid of the GS and will overreact if something does happen. We have a 6 ft. fence around our property with do not trespass and beware of dog signs posted everywhere, not just to protect people from my dogs, but to protect my dogs from frivilous charges well.
yeah, keep blaming the DOG.
the blame should be on whomever was responsible for watching those kids. if they had been doing their job, this wouldn’t have happened.
also, due to the extreme young age of the children, we’ll never know what provoked the mauling. children this age don’t know better. i’ve watched my niece run full force in to my in-law’s st bernard, grab it by the ears and try to climb on her back. sure, that dog is used to it, but how do you suppose other dogs would act to this treatment?
I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
