Los Angeles police say two Jewish men in their 30s were shot in the legs as they were about to enter a synagogue in the North Hollywood section of Los Angeles Thursday morning. A man described as an African-American with a handgun entered the Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic synagogue at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday and opened fire. The victims were taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Police are investigating the shooting as a hate crime. The Los Angeles Times says police arrested a man near the synagogue, but the sources say they don't believe he was the gunman.
The newspaper adds that police officials have alerted other synagogues around Los Angeles about the shooting, and police have stepped up patrols at Jewish religious institutions. Detectives are trying to determine if the gunman acted alone or as part of a larger group.
"Grave and shocking" Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli Edelstein called the event “grave and shocking.”

We live right near there. My daughter goes to the girls school not far away. Two squad cars were near the girls school.

Police say they are treating this as a hate crime until they can establish otherwise. PC nonsense aside, that would mean that they are treating it as a possible muslim rage type situation and patroling other Jewish buildings.
Nope, victims white, perpetrator black. Can’t be a hate crime.
My first thought. That’s their mindset.

Well, they did just pick up a black man even though they only had the vague description that the shooter was “black and wearing a hoodie.” That sounds racist. I didn’t even hear that the guy they picked up was wearing a hoodie.
But Zero does not consider this a hate crime because they are Jewish ... hmmm.
Well, on the one hand, I think it’s good if they treat all hate crimes equally. On the other hand, I find the idea of “hate crime” questionable, especially since it is usually biased by political correctness.
If the shooters were motivated by Muslim hatred of Jews, then it should be up to the media to bring that fact out. Also for the jury to take it into account, if they choose, as a contributing factor. It would suggest that the crime was premeditated, for one thing. But in fact the media will predictably cover it up, and a liberal judge will probably instruct the jury to ignore it. That’s the problem with “hate crime”—it usually becomes such a PC matter.
White on black is hate; black on white is a result of difficult childhood. And Muslim motives are unmentionable.
