Left-wing activists held over Stockholm car fires

Stockholm-area police arrested nine left-wing activists on Wednesday in connection with a string of disturbances in the southern suburb of Fittja in Botkyrka.

For several nights earlier in the week, Fittja Centrum was plagued by several car fires and other acts of vandalism. Police who responded to the violence were then met with a barrage of stones when arriving on the scene.

But when police responded to calls about continued unrest in the predominantly immigrant area on Wednesday night, they recognized a 20-year-old woman who is wanted on suspicion of rioting from an earlier case.

Police then tracked her to a nearby apartment where they found the woman along with eight other people, all of whom had ties to Antifascist Action (AFA), a militant left-wing anti-fascist organization.

In the apartment police also discovered rocks and other objects indicating that the activists intended to target police in additional attacks and then flee, Sveriges Radio reports.

Members of AFA were also involved in a number of disturbances over the past year in the Rosengård neighbourhood in Malmö, another predominantly immigrant district plagued by ongoing tensions between law enforcement and local residents.

“This is a group of demonstrators who appear to show up at different times in different places to protest against different things,” Södertörn police spokesperson Mats Nylén told The Local.

“I guess you could call them general troublemakers.”

AFA activists were involved in arranging a demonstration in Rosengård in August which was also plagued by violence. At the time local residents voiced their displeasure at the group’s presence in the area, blaming the left-wing activists for adding to tensions between locals and the police.

The group was also blamed for stepping up violence in conjunction with Rosengård disturbances which took place in December 2008 and went a long way toward cementing public perceptions of the area as a dangerous immigrant neighbourhood.

“If the troublemakers from AFA hadn’t shown up ‘to help out’, there never would have been any fighting,” Rosengård resident Andreas Konstantinides told the Dagens Nyheter (DN) newspaper at the time.

Malmö police spokesperson Charley Nilsson also blamed AFA for the “violent escalation” which marked the December riots in Rosengård.

Following Wednesday’s arrests, Stockholm County police commissioner Carin Götblad condemned AFA’s role in once again stepping up violence.

“We view seriously the fact that people are consciously trying to incite riots in our suburban areas,” she said in a statement.

However, Nylén offered few details about the ongoing investigation into the disturbances.

“All I can say is that the AFA members were present at the time that criminal activity was taking place,” he said.

He added that the investigation is moving forward and that prosecutors could file requests as early as Friday to have the suspects remanded.

The Nordic Countries (Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway and Denmark) is a nightmare of both Marxism and Islam.

Most Scandinavians of today eat pork, own stock, place individual well-being before that of their next door neighbor and happen to experience the ideals of Islam as foreign to us, to say the least.

Still we do pretty well and no, this is not because of the NATO. To begin with, Sweden and Finland aren't NATO members (- and furthermore Finland managed to do what Hitler did not in the WWII; making Stalin look like the complete fool he actually was).

Yes, we noticed--during the 40 year unpleasantness known in the West as The Cold War.

Sorry you guys just couldn't make it, it was quite a time.

“The opposite of the Golden Rule?”

- You and I aren’t exactly living in the direct aftermath of the Dresden bombings in February 1945.

Believe it or not, no one is truly poor where you and I live.

Life in Western Europe, Japan, South Korea, Dubai, Australia + NZ and North America is almost too comfortable.

Yes, we should continue to care about each other in the old fashioned way, but we should also resist Socialist teachings wishing to sell us the idea of the perfect state responding to all of the needs and interests of its members.

Four or so years ago, I went to the support Denmark protest in Damn Square in Amsterdam. We had a legal permit. Lots of police. They totally let the AF through their line.
Personally I had no problem with the little play fascist punks. I just shoved them hard. I had the left wing, Muslim suckup Amsterdam police read me the riot act.

Anyways, I wasn’t hip to what the AF was about. Next time, the little play punks are going down, right off the bat.

Uhhh, Finland beat the Russians to a standstill (albeit not one that left them in a favorable position) and then, as part of the deal they had to beat the Germans then occupying the warmer parts of the country as well.

In short, Finland beat both Russia and Germany in WWII ~ at a fraction of the cost expended by everyone else to first beat Germany and then isolate Russia.

They did it without nuclear weapons too.

The last time Sweden got really involved in a war was shortly after the Danish king murdered the Swedish nobles in Stockholm.

The Vassa King was forced to hire a new nobility ~ which is a story all by itself.

Next thing you know the Swedish armies were beating everybody. They nearly exterminated Germany.

A big lesson to all the Europeans was to just leave these guys alone, and that's been pretty much the case up to the present time. Folks on the periphery in Norway, Finland, Denmark, etc. have been caught up in major wars, but Sweden has an armed neutrality.

They are not really peaceful people.

Worth noting, since the late 1700s when the first of the really big European droughts and famines hit more than half the Swedish population has emigrated to America! Finland, Norway, Denmark and associated cultural areas in Germany, Latvia and Estonia (once part of the Swedish empire) ALSO emigrated in comparable numbers.

I'd suggest the Vikings have been getting a wartime workout quite regularly since then.

“You are not even regocnized.”

What a relief! I hate it when i am “regocnized”!

So it sounds like the Finns are the ones in that neighborhood with the #alls and the Swedes haven’t done any significant fighting in at least 60 years?

“regocnized”

- Did I spell that word?:)

Sorry for my poor English above.

Anyhow, Swedish soldiers have in fact participated in a lot of armed conflicts during the last decades even though Sweden as a state haven’t, formally, been at war with any other country for 200 years.

For instance, my country sent 9 battalions to Congo between 1960-1964, in total 6334 soldiers. 19 Swedish soldiers were killed - and that’s just an example.
