White House Announces End to HIV Travel Ban
The Washington Post ^ | October 30, 2009 | Garance Franke-Ruta

Posted on 10/30/2009 9:29:43 AM PDT by khnyny

President Obama called the 22-year ban on travel and immigration by HIV-positive individuals a decision "rooted in fear rather than fact" and announced the end of the rule-making process overturning the ban.

The president signed the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 at the White House Friday and also spoke of the new rules, which have been under development more more than a year. "We are finishing the job," the president said.

The regulations are the final procedural step in ending the ban, and will be published Monday in the Federal Register, to be followed by the standard 60-day waiting period prior to implementation.

No. This is a U.S. government policy that puts the interests of foreign AIDS patients ahead of the interest of American citizens. It will end up costing us a fortune, and serve as a magnet for the AIDS-infected around the world, who will consume what are soon to be scarce health-care resources. In what way did you think it could possibly be beneficial?

HIV is an epidemic in DC. The numbers are already equivalent to a third world country.

The largest cesspool of AIDS remains Africa.

So Obama gets a twofer, or rather a threefer, with this policy change.

1. He pleases the gay lobby.

2. He brings in more African immigrants.

3. He brings in more Muslim immigrants.

and 4. He overwhelms the health system and breaks the budget.

The perfect immigrant to implement Obama’s new plan for our country is a Somali Muslim terrorist with AIDS.

Expect to see millions of them.

Every day I say the same thing as I shake my head in dismay.....what a bastard 0bozo is. Just as he promised in his election never-ending campaign, this bastard is out to re-make Amerika in his own socialist-nazi-commie pig image. Where are our military leaders??? Isn’t there anyone or any group of people that can take down and arrest this commie pig 0bozo before he completely destroys our country???

The HIV Ban - Immigration Equality

On June 29, 2009, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a proposed regulation which will remove HIV from its list of “communicable diseases of public health significance.”

What is the HIV bar to immigration?

Section 212(a)(1)(A)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that any foreign national with a “communicable disease of public health significance” is “inadmissible.” Being “inadmissible” means that if you are HIV-positive, you can only obtain a “green card” if you qualify for a waiver. If you are HIV-positive and apply for legal permanent residence and do not qualify for a waiver, your application will be denied and you may be placed in removal (deportation) proceedings. Being “inadmissible” also bars short-term travel to the U.S.

In 1993, Congress passed a law that added HIV to the INA as a disease that automatically made an HIV-positive foreign national “inadmissible.” This part of the statute was repealed in the summer of 2008, but since HIV remained on the list that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) keeps that defines “communicable diseases of public health significance” we have been waiting for HHS to amend its list for the ban to be fully repealed. In the summer of 2009, HHS issued proposed regulations to remove HIV from the list. We are now waiting for the final regulations to be published for the ban to be fully lifted.

I was trying to make a point in a subtle way. Perhaps too subtly, apparently.

Bet we see a major spike in AIDS in the ethnic communities with this decision! Of course knowing the dems and their past relationship with discrimination this might just be being done on purpose to control the population of said communities. AIDS afterall is a lifestyle choice diease and is a terminal illness from which no one so far has been cured. Death panels anyone?

US activists praise Senate for lifting HIV travel ban
(AFP) – Jul 18, 2008

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Gay advocates and commentators have hailed a vote by US senators to repeal a travel ban on HIV-positive visitors or immigrants to the United States.

The ban first imposed 20 years ago, and made law in 1993, required foreigners with HIV to apply for special waivers and opponents said it discriminated against people with the disease without cause.

“Barring some unforeseen event, the HIV Travel Ban — a relic of the days when HIV was a source of fear and stigma and terror — is finally over,” commentator Andrew Sullivan wrote on his blog on the Atlantic magazine’s website.

Senator John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, and Republican Gordon Smith of Oregon sponsored the repeal of the ban.

Send $150 million to Muslim countries for ‘technical advancements’ and open the doors to more people with HIV- then expect to treat them with our “free Health Care”.

HIV costs of treatment are a deeeeeep black hole.

You can vaccinate alot of kids all over the world for the cost of treating one homosexual person who refuses to control their behavior.

That is because those fools believe that they can be ‘cured’ by having sex with 6 year old virgins.

When was common sense “Rooted in fear”? When was arrogance “based as fact”. Especially when the Arrogant ones depend on fear mongering to advance an agenda.
