RUSH: Brooklyn. Vinny. You're next. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Hello El Rushbo, mmm, mmm, mmm.
RUSH: Yeah, I love that.
REPORTER: Listen, two days ago, and I only heard this once, ABC reported that President Obama did a midnight run to Dover airfield base. My first question to you is I've never heard of any other president doing that, and why would he go out to view the dead coming back from Afghanistan? I mean this seems like some kind of, look at me, I'm the president, you see how sorry I feel for our dead soldiers returning, but I'm only going to send half of what General McChrystal originally requested because I really don't give a hoot. I mean, what kind of sick mind does this? To me it's a publicity ploy that he was warned off of the last moment, you better not make too much light of this because you're going to look like a hypocrite, 'cause that's what he looks like.
RUSH: You asked what kind of sick mind --
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: -- Marxist mind, perhaps fascist mind, but you're right. Look, the White House is busy, they're playing defense. They're responding to things, and the criticism of his dithering in Afghanistan by Vice President Cheney and a number of others made him very sensitive. He doesn't care about it, you're exactly right. Obviously he now has a problem with his own strategy that he implemented in March and he doesn't know what to do about it because he really doesn't care about winning over there but he's commander-in-chief. If he's going to pull off the rest of his agenda he's gotta make as many people believe that he is as traditional a president as anybody else. So as a Democrat he already has the image as weak on defense, he already is on record as having sought defeat in Iraq, but now he's the president. So he goes to Dover at 12:45 a.m., he's there until 4:45 a.m. One family granted him permission to be there and for photos to be taken of the remains of their family member being brought off the airplane, one family. The others did not. It was a pure photo-op to try to get the picture: Obama cares about troops, period, that's all it was. Now, Liz Cheney was asked about this yesterday on radio by John Gibson at Fox News radio. He said, "Seventeen of the 18 families of the fallen denied Obama his photo-op at Dover," and here's what Liz Cheney said.

LIZ CHENEY: I don't know why he went to Dover. I think that clearly it is very important for a commander-in-chief whenever he can, in whatever way possible, to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers, our fallen military, folks, but I think, you know, what President Bush used to do was to do it without cameras, and I don't understand sort of showing up with the White House press pool with photographers and asking family members if he can take pictures. I mean, that's really hard for me to get my head around. I think it's an honorable and important thing to pay tribute, there's no greater sacrifice people make to the nation. It was a surprising way for the president to choose to do it. I would also point out that the best way to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed is to win the war.
RUSH: Amen. That's Liz Cheney yesterday on the syndicated Fox News radio John Gibson show. President Bush used to do it, did you know that? You didn't know it? She just told us something we didn't know. Bush used to do it but there were no cameras, he did it privately with the families. Look, folks, you gotta understand, leftists are propagandists, they live by photo-op and so forth. So Vinny in Brooklyn had it exactly right.
END TRANSCRIPT
Obama used it as a self-promoting photo-op because he is lower than commie pond-scum. period
and didn’t zero look like a stiff board ... he was definitely ‘faking’ it for the cameras ... he is no commander!
Obama thinks that these dead soldiers are still all about him him him!
It’s true that Pres. Bush always spoke to the families of our fallen heros WITHOUT photographers present. He would not say what he said to them, but it’s reported by the families that he shed tears with them.
President Bush did not use it for photo-ops and campaign appearances. He used it for the solemn reason of paying homage to our war dead and to do what he could to comfort their families.
To Obama its just a cheap political stunt. 1 of 18 families allowed it, the other 17 knew what it was.
True enough. This has the smell of something Clinton would do.
W never, ever exploited the downed heroes, visiting their families in very quiet and unannounced get togethers that most people never even knew about.
He has no right to salute. He never served in the US military.
President Bush honored our war dead privately and did not turn it into a photo op like this piecse of sh-t in the white house now. For obama it is just a photo op when he desicrates our war dead. Words cannot adequately convey my disgust of this #$#%$#% in the white house. All I can say is to hell with him and to hell with those who voted for this wretch.
This is nauseating.
We're literally watching a little boy play grown-up. "I wanna be Pre-si-dent when I grow up, mommy!" He has no class and no idea how to act. Worse, he doesn't have the sense to ASK somebody about appropriate behavior because all of his adviser buddies are equally class-less.
Two words. BOY ZERO
POSER
I saw the most nauseating video yesterday.
Barry was shown nearly running up the cargo ramp to get to the coffin before it was brought down .
Like he was afraid he would miss the action.
It was a most macabre and revolting display from our national Showboat.
If 17 bereaved families had told George Bush to buzz off , we all know that would have been the lead story on every newscast.
Barry didn’t honor and respect the fallen , he used them as props.
This guy is one sick and twisted piece of garbage.
AMEN!!! Perfectly Stated!! except You are toooo Gracious and Easy on the Kenyan!
Could You please explain the Code to the rest of Us? Clintoon used to give those awful slimmy Salutes of his own as well and he was the dirtest of draft dodgers....:-Q
well, at least till this Kenyan came along...........

So the muzzie in chief is using the caskets of real American heroes as a photo op, a PR stunt?
No too bright pissing off soldiers.
Only military personnel should use a military salute, especially for an occasion such as this, when the dead are recognized by a salute.
Were people standing in a line, saluting a passing coffin, to act as though you are in the military when you are not is way beyond disingenuous.
I wonder if he practices in front of a mirror.
A Great General once said that Whale Poop is the lowest thing in Our World because it lies on the bottoms of the Deepest Oceans! NOW! We know something Lower, Slimmier, and much more Disgusting, Unfortunately for Us and for Our GREAT MILITARY and OUR GREAT AMERICA! that “IT” seeks to Destroy!...........:-(

The muzzie in chief's Goebbels, the best PR man going, he got a radical communist elected POTUS.
May he meet the same fate as Goebbels.
Not so much that he went. It would be an honorable thing for any president to do as commander-in-chief. But it’s a cheap political stunt when he takes a photographer along.
As usual, it’s all about him, not the soldier who gave all that honor had to give and it was cheapened by a cheap photo op.
No class. None whatsoever!
Our founding fathers were very emphatic about keeping the Military under civillian control. Only Military personnel are privileged to salute. And then only when in unifrom not in civillian attire. President Reagen sterted saluting his Marine guards at the Marine One helicopter. We all accepted it because he was so enthused about doing it, But even he was not authorized to do it.
This Sunday, the New York Times Magazine , is having a big spread on the Obama’s marriage.
In the piece, it is reported that Michelle ponders Supreme Court
nominees while Barry ponders fabric swatches and color choices for the White House redecorating.
Republicans , like McCain , keep politely urging Barry to act “ quickly “ on Afghanistan.
Quickly left the station last August when he first got McChrystal’s report.
They are talking to the wrong person.
Michelle is obviously the one who will make the decision on undercutting
our troops .
While Barry is off playing basketball, golf and watching Sports Center with his special man friend Reggie Love.
And we taxpayers foot the bill for Barry’s playmate to the tune of $ 102,000/ year.
Obama is our nation’s most despicable and derelict Commander in Chief.
For the love of God, someone teach that imbicile how to salute. If he was my troop when I was an NCO I would have smoked the piss out of that little sally.
Remember when he was in germany, he wouldn’t visit wounded troops because he was denied permission to bring his photographers?
I bet if that one family had not given permission he would have left before the caskets were off the plane. I wonder how many times he made them carry the casket off then put it back on the plane so they could get the perfect shot.
I’m amazed at the level of professionalism and restraint those soldiers on the tarmac exibited. Can’t you just imagine them fighting back the urge to give him a little wall to wall counseling?
Wasn't just 'a' photographer. It was full scale production crew of 24--(twenty-four) photographers, etc. according to another article that I read.
In 2005 I was involved in a forum with President Bush and when it was over my family got to have pictures taken with him. After our picture taking was over he excused himself because he was going to spend some time with a few families whose sons were killed in Iraq.....the families were in a private room and the President went into there alone with no reporters etc. He spent at least 30 minutes with them and when he came out it was obvious they had all been crying.....I have never forgotten this and I know how much this must have meant to those families.
Actually, he had a crew from the WH with him too. Did’t you see Eric Holder and the others. There was a woman and another man with him - but I couldn’t tell who they were.
I’d assume not the parents as they stood with Holder and not the President.
And some of the families shared what President Bush did. He hugged them, listened to their stories, gave them comfort, and wept with them.
I miss having a real Commander in Chief. I miss having a real President.
Not exactly true. President Bush gave us veterans (and military in civvies) the privilege of rendering the military salute -- under specific circumstances:
Thank you, President Bush!
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2040095/posts B>
before last Independence Day.
It mentions that President Bush signed the authorization into law 28 JAN 2008...
Excellent posts on this thread...
Well, I will say that it played very well with me when I saw it, but Rush and Liz Cheney have a real point, as did Rush's caller: this is more Clintonoid photo-op politics.
We know how closely Rahm Emanuel coordinates with the old Clinton PR team of Begala, Carville, and Clintonopoulos, and the post-inaugural FOIA request for phone records showed those four were exchanging over 400 phone calls per day, and Rush had already showed us on his TV show 15 years ago how phony and stagey Clinton was back then -- Rush's guys busted Clinton again and again, catching him over and over again, performing like a dancing bear, a pander-bear, for the cameras.
I have to say these guys' take is incisive and persuasive, that Obama's trip has to be viewed as suspicious for political showmanship.
And Rush and Liz are right, Shrub did lots of things with vets and bereft families privately and quietly, and covered himself with genuine affection and honor when he did so.
OBOZO continues to Violate All of the Laws of the Land and the Proper Respect of Our Counry’s Most IMPORTANT SYMBOLS!
Remember how he fondled His Crotch during the Playing of Our National Anthem at the Horrid Democrat ffair in IOWA! even grossly more obscene than the desecration of Our FLAG by the now Known Author of his Alleged Memoir, the Unrepentant Terrorist and Avowed Communist and NOW KNOWN CLOSE FRIEND of the OBAMA HUSSEINS, William Ayers, trampling on Our FLAG in a dirty Alleyway in Chicago for a cover of Magazine. Lets at least let RUSH, HANNITY and BECK and hopefully the RNC and maybe even McPAIN bring this Travesty to the Attention of the AMERICAN PUBLIC!!
MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS OUR GREAT UNITED STATES MILITARY!!!
Thank you Old Seadog and TXnMA for Your Great SERVICE to AMERICA, OUR GREAT AMERICA!! which No ALLEGED PRESIDENT EVER SHOULD APOLOGIZE FOR!! EVER!!!!
It was nice that he met with the families. I just think that it would have been nice to meet the fallen as they returned to US soil.
