Biggest October Snow in Denver in 12 Years

Driving around the Denver, Colorado metro area is a mess and giving people major headaches as they try to get around town.

The biggest storm to hit Colorado in October in twelve years is leaving roads packed with snow and ice and while crews are being credited with doing a pretty good job of keeping roads cleared, the snow is falling faster than crews can clear it.

Traffic for the last two days has been at a crawl and it likely won't get
better until Friday when the storm moves out and sun starts to peek out again.

Many areas in the southern and western parts of the metro area have more than two-feet of snow on the ground and while major roadways are drivable, side streets are a lower priority for plow crews and getting into and out of neighborhoods is presenting a lot of challenges.

Schools are closed; so many parents are putting their kids to work clearing walkways, sidewalks and driveways of all the snow that has piled up.

Someone needs to tell them global warming is buried somewhere under all that snow.

All I can say is where I live, normally we have leaves until the middle of November, or through about the 3rd week. They are all off most of the trees before November this year. We had no indian summer this year, just one or two days that were nice. Normally we get a week or more of nice final weather.

Imagine that. Putting your children to work shovelling their own sidewalks and driveways.

Oh, the humanity.

Tomorrow, the count of children 'working' will be added to Obama's 'saved or added' jobs!!!!

>>>>>Those same climatologists say in an average year parts of eastern Colorado will see about 56-inches of snow. So far, this year about 25-inches of recordable snow has fallen.<<<<<<

Shouldn’t Obummer declare a national emergency and call for rationing so there’ll be some snow let to fall for Christmas?

It appears we are going to have shortages next January unless Congress passes legislation limiting the amount of snow that can call in any one day.... we are in trouble otherwise IMO.

Imagine if the Colorado Rockies were in the World Series this year. Baseball runs into bad weather as they schedule playoffs later and later each year. A Rockies playoff game in Colorado was postponed a couple of weeks ago due to snow.

I don’t think we’re supposed to say “Indian summer” anymore due to political correctness.

12 years looks about right.

Looking at the past 6 years, there simply is no comparison to this year at this date. Phenomenal snow levels right now for this early in the season. Looks like we may end up adding a fifth season to the calendar. January to February. Something worse then winter. Gonna have to come up with a name for it. Ice Season ? Gore Season ?

I remember a mid-1980s business trip to the Coors brewery at Golden, not too far from Denver.. snowed like the dickens, I did outside security stuff so I ended up tramping around in 2 to 3 foot of snow, nice and fluffy,, but ya get pooped after awhile, should have had snowshoes or a snowmobile that day.

The free sample room was a nice visit at the end of the day.. and at lunch too. :-]

The biggest storm to hit Colorado in October in twelve years [...]

LOL! So much for global cooling and the reduced water content of the air leading to little snow over the past decade, eh?

Oh, what will the global coolers do now...claim that the water in the air came from magic, not greater ocean evaporation?
