President Looking For New Troop Options (Even more dithering by Obama on Afghanistan!)
MSNBC ^ | Friday, October 30, 2009 | Chuck Todd and Jim Miklaszewski

Posted on 10/30/2009 6:33:48 PM PDT by kristinn

Pres. Obama met today with the Joint Chiefs of Staff for just the second time since taking office. The president grilled the commanders on strategy and troop requests for Afghanistan during the nearly three hour meeting, but no final decision were made, according to both senior White House and Pentagon officials

In fact, the president has asked the Joint Chiefs to come back to the White House possibly as early as next week to present him with more options. The president is not happy with the choices that he has in front of him, which include Gen. Stanley McCrystal's request for approximately 40,000 more troops. So in the last few weeks, the White House asked the Pentagon to draw up more plans and when ready have the Joint Chiefs present the options formally to the president at the next meeting.

SNIP

As for timing, it's ALSO looking less likely the president will make a decision (let alone ANNOUNCE a decision) before he leaves for Asia on Nov. 11, a self-imposed soft deadline the White House had hoped to meet.

It's going to be a long, lonely winter for our troops in Afghanistan.

Since OBAMA is apparently intellectually incapable of preforming the requiremnet of Commander-in-Chief. He has a major problem.
I don’t like the idea of our troops over there with him trying to figure out how to do his job.

Some people in the National Guard from around here are going over to Afghanistan, people that my kids know. I just hope they stay safe. There are few things worse than being caught up in a war that your Commander in Chief doesn’t want to win.

Well just damn!

I hope this Afghanistan thing doesn’t interfere with the bamster’s recreation time.

He needs to go golfing to relax from the tremendous pressures he’s under.

What a metrosexual, girlieman puke.

America, what have we done?

Pres. Obama met today with the Joint Chiefs of Staff for just the second time since taking office.

The appeaser and coward does not believe in defeating the terrorist enemies and does not believe in victory so why bother meeting more often with Joint Chiefs of Staff

The president grilled the commanders on strategy and troop requests for Afghanistan during the nearly three hour meeting

WOW Obama the TOUGH grilling the generals and admirals. I am sure that the generals and admirals were really afraid of Obama the toughest Commander in Chief ever (most extreme sarcasm)

but no final decision were made, according to both senior White House and Pentagon officials

The left wings lunatics and our enemies are still very happy that the coward and the appeaser has not made any decision yet on sending 40,000 troops to defeat the terrorist enemy in Afghanistan.

In war, I don't think any choices make commanders "happy", but the unpleasant choices are necessary to make. Man up and make the decisions, Mr. President.

” America, what have we done? “

A bunch of us were asking ourselves tonight how in the heck a guy who couldn’t qualify
as a Wal-Mart greeter became POTUS.
58 million of us recognized what a train wreck Barry would be.
Unfortunately, 66 million Americans drank the media Kool-Aid and the rest of us , some more than others,
will be paying a price for their stupidity.
Those that are paying the ultimate price are the fallen heroes in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I hope the Obama voters feel guilt and shame for the rest of their lives for what they’ve done , but, I doubt it.
Most of them are probably as soulless as Barry.

Since the President will soon be repealing the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, perhaps he can send over a few Bri-gay-des of limp wrists to face the Taliban Brigands. I’m sure the enemy will run away in terror, for they abhor the third gender.

Nah ... Obama wants the Generals to cave in and recommend a pull-out.

That way, he can always claim, "I was ONLY following the advice of my Generals", when the Taliban institutes a bloodbath after we pull out ...

Lonely troops made more so by a lout as CinC.

Is it factual that Obammy had reporters and photographers accompany him to Dover AFB to view the caskets of returning servicemen?

Would someone please inquire of OBOY as to what purpose required the presence of other than the CinC?

I am still confused by the need for photos at that time. It appears like a cheap political stunt, but probably not.

re: so why bother meeting more often with Joint Chiefs of Staff

The Great Pretender is a master at the old “Say Yes - Do No” ploy. It's a very popular entry in the Leftie Play Book. Takes a while to figure out what they're up to. All that talk saying one thing while their actions are shouting another.

Should anybody expect an important decision from a “man” who, more often than not, voted “Present.”
