Giuliani Endorses Hoffman Makes Late Attempt To Jump On Bandwagon

Good NY mayor....may be good NY governor. Still not a conservative.

This is great news. Some may want to call Guiliani a Johnny-Come-Lately to the Hoffman camp, but this could easily blow the Scozzafava endorsement off of the headlines.

Considering the stunt that Dede pulled this is good news. We need all the help we can get to put Doug Hoffman over the top.

Ahhh Rudy ... a bit late for the bandwagon, ehhh Rudy?

I like Rudy for what he did in NYC, but his political instincts are abysmal.

For instance, he should have run for Governor in 2006 instead of that wacky POTUS run, and he should declare himself for Gov *now* instead of waiting for the Paterson/Cuomo scenario to hash itself out. And as a 'declared' candidate for Gov, he could have involved himself in this upstate congressional race much sooner ... but apparently Rudy didn't want to take the chance of either coming down on the wrong side (Dede), or being bold and supporting Hoffman

Great! This is NY and Rudy is regarded well in NY23, so every bit of help counts. Those that want Hoffman to win should know better, and any help towards victory should be welcomed. Hoffman hasn’t won yet, the elections are on Tuesday, and considering the democrats are so corrupt, this isn’t over yet!

Giuliani is a lot more liberal than I'd like, but he's not a RINO. He's a liberal republican.

RINO's are backstabbing jerks like DeDe who takes $900,000 of the NRCC's money and endorses the democrap when her polls tank.

Just my 2 cents as a former NY’er that witnessed the remarkable turn around of the city under Giuliani.

I would argue that no Republican politician since Reagan has made a better case for what following Conservative principles can accomplish even in an environment that is completely hostile to Republicans.

Is he a conservative across the board ? Of course not, but his stances on crime/welfare/taxes/incarcerated criminals/spending/unions are not only conservative but a textbook example of how conservatism can work anywhere.

If he was conservative on any more issues he wouldn’t have been elected and the social issues that he took a liberal stance on were impossible to change in NYC IMO. Don’t forget his days as a prosecutor, his stance against the mob was heroic in my mind.

Probably not a popular opinion on here but I don’t think it’s fair to simply write him off as a non-conservative or a RINO.

I’m not from NY, but IIRC, Rudy actually pulled a Scuzza during the Cuomo v. Pataki race in 1994, didn’t he? He endorsed Cuomo (D) instead of Pataki (R).
