Keene’s ACU also puts on the annual CPAC conference in Washington. CPAC originated in 1973 as a meeting of dedicated grassroots conservatives and is partially credited with the rise of Ronald Reagan in the late 1970s. David Keene assumed the chairmanship of the ACU in 1984 and since then CPAC has steadily strayed from its grassroots origins. Today it is the ultimate establishment event.

Time for honest conservatives to take back CPAC (though I choke at calling Keene a "conservative" these days).

After Palin endorsed Hoffman, several of the GOP hopefuls jumped on the bandwagon, hoping to use this endorsement as an authentication certificate. They will all now point to this as proof that they are conservatives.

Keene is the same guy that held up and reworked his ACU ratings until Senior Amnesty Mel Martinez could “earn” ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? A 100% ACU rating! Yeah right! That trick put an incompetent boob in charge of the RNC that makes Steele look like Lee Atwater.

I feel compelled to make one last point. I wouldn't blame Governor Palin one bit if she skips Keene's increasingly irrelevant CPAC conference in 2010.

I don't think that's much of a worry. Keene won't even invite her. He's got it in for her since a bunch of people bailed out of his conference earlier this year when he was forced to admit she wasn't coming. He's got it in for her for costing him money.
