Examiner.com: Virginia AG candidate Steve Shannon sticks to his gun control

Both past Attornies General, along with the current Republican nominee for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, have all opposed banning private sales of guns at gun shows while supporting repeal of the Virginia ban on concealed carry in restaurants serving alcohol. But not Democratic AG nominee Steve Shannon – this Northern Virginia lawyer is sticking to his gun control. . . . But what irks gun rights organizers the most is Shannon’s lack of any articulable policy rationale for his positions. “Insisting that we need to fix something that doesn’t exist does not stir gun owners to support candidates” said Philip Van Cleave, President of the Virginia citizens Defense League, speaking about the alleged gun show loophole.

“Freedom is the loophole that Shannon really wants to close, and come on,” added Van Cleave, “why would anyone choose to force open carry in a public restaurant?”

This Shannon guy is so pitiful. I really don’t want him in charge of anything in Virginia.

Ken Cuccinelli is one of the good guys, and he’s going to thump this Democrat on Tuesday.

Ken is someone that I want to see in the U.S. Senate one of these days real soon.

Ken C is awesome. He sounds like Reagan. Make sure to vote in VA and any other state.

Thanks for that.

America’s Independent Party and America’s Independent Party of Virginia have press releases urging support for the Republican ticket of McDonnell, Bolling and Cuccinelli coming out early in the morning.

This Shannon guy is so pitiful. I really don’t want him in charge of anything in Virginia.

His weasliness (weaselitude?) in the ad claiming Cuccinelli is protecting child molestors (by not supporting forced-reporting from the confessional) is particularly egregious. With a name like "Shannon" he can't be far removed from Catholicism, and he knows damned well that an unrepentant molestor isn't even going to BE in Confession, and a repentant one is going to do what the priest tells him, which would be to turn himself in as part of his penance.

They don't just pat you on the shoulder and say "There, there, it's all right if you're really sorry", they say "This is what you need to do to fix things as much as possible" and your absolution is conditional on doing just that.
