A Month in the life of George W. Bush (News and photos) November 2009

November and winter is now upon us and it is almost frightening to realise it is almost a year ago that the election was held that made us realise that the previous 8 years of President George W Bush time as President was drawing to an end.

Even though it has been about 9 months since George W Bush left office for many it seems another age so much seems to have changed and many things we hold dear now seem to mean nothing.

We miss the class and character that George W Bush, his wife and of course his father and mother portrayed to the American nation and the world.

I hope the following photos will help us remember time of maybe great sadness and challenge for the nation but also a feeling that there was somebody at the helm that was strong, confident and above all put his love for his country and fellow men first and always did and said what he believed to be the right thing to do.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

I’m PLEASANTLY surprised that the RNC included Presidents 41 and 43 in their new calendar — I may just request one now. [To date, I have restricted my political donations to the George W Bush Presidential Center and local/statewide candidates here in Ohio (e.g., Rob Portman and Jean Schmidt).]

Just what we expected from the Bushes, right?! I enjoyed listening to Laura talk about it. She sounds excited and pleased.

You know, it truly is. By putting more emphasis on the public policy center, what we're seeing is an attempt to deflect attention away from George W.'s Presidential Library, thus away from him PERSONALLY, and onto something he considers more important.

Thanks for the ping and link to the article and pics!

I think the design is very fitting and stately for our awesome President!

Bush said the library center, which will include a museum and a policy institute, will not be a shrine. "One of the things we discussed with all of the design team was that we did not want this to be monumental like some other libraries are," Bush said. "We're very aware that the presidents are men. They are people. We wanted it to be human in scale."

No library and massage parlor theme to THIS Presidential Center. ;*)

Thank you for the ping and pics.

Beautiful and classy!
I like this: Limestone at the base of the building is from Midland, where the Bushes met and married.

“I was looking for something to do tonight,” George W. explained. “I’d finished my time as a greeter at Elliott’s.”

LOL! Love ya Dubya!!!

Albanian town plans statue of Bush

TIRANA (Reuters) - The small Albanian town of Fushe-Kruje plans to erect a statue of former U.S. President George W. Bush to commemorate his June 2007 visit, when he was feted as a hero in an outpouring of love for America.

Mayor Ismet Mavriqi said seven Albanian sculptors had entered the competition for the statue he plans to unveil in Bush Square in the town center on June 10, 2010, the third anniversary of Bush's visit.

"If had the final say, I would very much like a three-meter statue, probably in bronze, that captures his trademark way of walking with energy," Mavriqi told Reuters on the phone.

THANK YOU for posting a link to the Albanian story — I hope this is the beginning of MANY statues for our President! [Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel and Texas (a country unto itself) should be building statues soon!!]

I love the photo that accompanied the article!

SUNDAY READING . . .

WHY I MISS GEORGE W BUSH
WEBCommentary Contributor
Author: Andrew T. Durham
Bio: Andrew T. Durham
Date: November 21, 2009

. . . And on a purely intuitive level, I miss President Bush because I don’t believe he had an evil bone in his body. He ran this country; he didn’t try to shape it into some Frankenstein’s monster socialist nightmare. A President of the United States should be a statesman, even a simple man, but surely not a child radical whose origins we are not allowed to challenge lest we be labeled crazy.

Yes, I miss George W. Bush, if only because I could come home at night and go to bed knowing that, for now, everything was going to be all right. He didn’t have a staff of hotshot narcissists with daddy issues. He ran a board of directors. They stayed in the background and actually worked.

Work.

And you better believe me: God, we need to get that back sometime or we’re all in deep crap.

If I might be a little less than humble, they should have asked ME to sketch the President Bush photos. ;*)

(Actually, silent jonny is WAY better than I am. They should have asked him!)

Wow! THANKS, DrDeb! That is a great commentary!

Not an evil bone in his body. Something we have all seen from Day 1.

Thank You, Lord, for this President!

I had the same thought when I saw the sketch! . . . Your rendering would have been MUCH better (not that the featured sketch was bad, just not as good as it could have been)!!
