Mayor Gavin Newsom was spotted this morning at City Hall, but there's still no word on his mysterious disappearance. He arrived at his office at about 9:30 a.m., walking past members of the media who were hoping he'd comment on his absence. No such luck.
"The mayor is back, and he's busy conducting meetings in his office in City Hall right now," said his spokesman, Nathan Ballard.
Newsom is meeting with staff and plans to meet with both sides of the hotel workers' dispute sometime today, Ballard said. He is not planning to make any public appearances.
"He's been kept up-to-date, and he's ready to be back to business," Ballard said, noting he just needed some time off after a grueling gubernatorial campaign and with a newborn baby at home.
Ballard wouldn't say whether the SFPD's mayoral security detail accompanied the Newsoms to Hawaii. The cost of guarding the mayor and his family has been a dispute at City Hall recently because the mayor's office and police department won't say how much taxpayer money is used on it.
But we've got to say, if the choice is going to gubernatorial fundraisers or lounging on the beach in Hawaii, we bet his security staff was pleased with the latter.

Cheers!
He must have gone to South America for a soul mate. They have sleezy politician discounts.
What a strange person.
Something is up. This sleezebag just pulled out of the governor’s race. Then he disappears for a few days. Could a divorce be in the making? Was he off with a secret lover? If so, was the lover male or female or transgendered???
Maybe he flew to Brazil to meet with his boyfriend.
Isn’t this the creature who is or was related to the popular liberal actor Ed Asner?
He’s related to Nancy Pelosi
