Sevierville.
So named for John Sevier, who fought as a Regulator in that pre-Revolutionary conflict in North Carolina, commanded the legendary “Over The Mountain Men” in the Battle Of King’s Mountain in the Revolution, the only Governor of the short-lived Free State of Franklin (1785-1789) and the first Governor of the great State of Tennessee, from the time NC ceded territory to form that State, 1796, to 1801.
He was a fine man and a patriot.
