Hopefully it won’t take you twenty years to distance yourself from the place.

So, did you have a talk with your pastor. and how many parishioners walked out?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Wrote the letter, will deliver it tomorrow. Citations from Bishops and other notable Catholic scholars included. Charity demands that I allow for misunderstandings, miscommunications, etc, and legitimate differences of opinion, semantics. The thrust of the prayer was on upholding the sanctity of life and freedom of conscience -- legitimate concerns addressed by the Bishops. I took exception to the presumption that gov't intervention in healthcare is a social good. So does the church:
The Catechism of the Catholic Church elaborates on this principle in theological, and almost poetic terms: God has not willed to reserve to himself all exercise of power. He entrusts to every creature the functions it is capable of performing, according to the capacities of its own nature. This mode of governance ought to be followed in social life. The way God acts in governing the world, which bears witness to such great regard for human freedom, should inspire the wisdom of those who govern human communities.

This is NYC. I've seen people wear "Obama" caps to the most conservative parishes. We're not ignorant of certain factions within our midst.
