AMERICAN MUSLIMS: “NO PITY FOR VICTIMS OF FT. HOOD MASSACRE”
The Last Crusade ^ | Nov. 7, 2009 | Biased BBC

Following the criticism of some BBC coverage of the Fort Hood killings, credit is due to the BBC’s Gavin Lee for including in his report this morning the following interview with a young Muslim from the same mosque attended by Major Hasan (the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen) :

Duane : I’m not going to condemn him for what he did. I don’t know why he did it. I will not, absolutely not, condemn him for what he had done though. If he had done it for selfish reasons I still will not condemn him. He’s my brother in the end. I will never condemn him.

Gavin Lee : There might be a lot of people shocked to hear you say that.

Duane: Well, that’s the way it is. I don’t speak for the community here but me personally I will not condemn him.

Gavin Lee : What are your thoughts towards those that were victims in this?

Duane : They were troops who were going to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill Muslims. I honestly have no pity for them. It’s just like the majority of the people that will hear this, after five or six minutes they’ll be shocked, after that they’ll forget about them and go on their day.

Is this is the same Duane from the same mosque quoted in the New York Times ?

Duane Reasoner Jr., an 18-year-old substitute teacher whose parents worked at Fort Hood, said Major Hassan was told he would be sent to Afghanistan on Nov. 28, and he did not like it.

“He said he should quit the Army,” Mr. Reasoner said. “In the Koran, you’re not supposed to have alliances with Jews or Christian or others, and if you are killed fighting against Muslims, you to hell.”

I don’t want to hear a single word from anyone who might be thinking of questioning these people’s patriotism.

Question their patriotism? I've never heard it mentioned.

That image of a Duane Reasoner on his knees is probably of the father, Duane Reasoner Jnr’s parents are quoted as having worked at Fort Hood.

Pretty scary stuff. Sadly, our FBI is busy attending sensitivity training seminars and recruiting muslims to work in the FBI. The ‘Unholy Alliance’ between the commie left and the radical islamists is going to get us all killed.

That image of a Duane Reasoner on his knees is probably of the father, Duane Reasoner Jnr’s parents are quoted as having worked at Fort Hood.

Here's another photo, this time from the NY Times, in which he also has "Jr" after his name:

Bernard V. Benjamin II, left, and Duane Reasoner Jr. were at their Killeen mosque on Friday.

The Stars and Stripes piece is quite interesting:

Just last week, Hasan expressed views that Muslims shouldn't serve in the military and fight other Muslims, according to Duane Reasoner Jr., a recent Muslim convert who had been having dinner regularly with Hasan.

Hasan had taken 18-year-old Reasoner under his wing, mentoring him in his new faith. After evening prayers he would often buy a fish dinner for Reasoner and sometimes the iman at the Golden Corral, a chain buffet restaurant. Besides mentioning that he prayed for a wife, the conversation almost never strayed from religion, Reasoner said, describing Hasan as warm and caring.

Also from the above article is the probable reason for Hasan's unfavorable evaluation at Walter Reed:

Another Army officer who worked with Hasan at Walter Reed Army Medical Center said Hasan was “generally polite” with staff but problematic with his patients. On several occasions, he said, Hasan condemned his patients struggling with drug or alcohol addiction for “unholy” behavior, and openly tried to convert others to Islam.

“When I heard that he was behind the shootings, frankly it didn’t seem like much of a stretch,” said the soldier, who asked to remain anonymous because Army commanders instructed him not to speak about Hasan.

As Charles Krauthammer, who is a recovering psychiatrist himself, pointed out the other night on Hugh Hewitt, it's a major no-no for shrinks to proselytize their patients.

Haven’t I read somewhere that Hasan had a “visitor” that was unusual, maybe the eveming before? I’ll see what I can find. I wonder if this was the visitor?

I found the description I was thinking of, from the UK-telegraph article. “”It was very unusual because he had never had anyone round before. His visitor had long black hair and a moustache and a dark complexion. He stayed about five minutes and then left. We’d never seen him before.”

Profile: Anwar Al Aulaqi (the BEAST, Nadal Hasan's religious leader in VA

a.k.a. Anwar al-Awlaki

Anwar Al Aulaqi was a participant or observer in the following events:

June 1999-March 2000: FBI Investigates Al-Qaeda-Linked Imam and Misses His Contacts with 9/11 Hijackers Anwar Al Aulaqi.Anwar Al Aulaqi. [Source: Public domain]The FBI conducts a counterterrorism inquiry into Anwar Al Aulaqi, an imam who will later be suspected of involvement in the 9/11 plot.

He serves as the “spiritual leader” to several of the hijackers (see March 2001 and After), and by 2008 US intelligence will determine he is linked to al-Qaeda (see February 27, 2008).

* The investigation is opened when it is learned he had probably been visited by a “procurement agent” for bin Laden, Ziyad Khaleel. Khaleel had helped buy a satellite phone for bin Laden; when he is arrested in December 1999 he reportedly tells the FBI crucial details about al-Qaeda operations in the US (see December 29, 1999).

* In early 2000 the FBI is aware when Al Aulaqi is visited by an unnamed close associate of Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman. [US Congress, 7/24/2003, pp. 131 pdf file; Washington Post, 2/27/2008]

*He also serves as vice president of the Charitable Society for Social Welfare (CSSW), the US branch of a Yemeni charity founded by Sheikh Abdul Majeed al-Zindani, a Yemeni imam who the US will officially designate a terrorist in 2004.

CSSW also has ties to the Islamic Cultural Institute in Milan, Italy, considered one of the centers of al-Qaeda activity in Europe.

(ITALY .. WHO JUST SENTENCED 23 OF OUR CIA OPERATIVES FOR DOING THEIR JOB)

The FBI begins investigating CSSW in 1999 after a Yemeni politician visits the US to solicit donations for the charity, and then visits Mahmoud Es Sayed, a known al-Qaeda figure at the Islamic Cultural Institute, on the same trip. [Burr and Collins, 2006, pp. 243; Washington Post, 2/27/2008]

* The FBI learns that Al Aulaqi knows individuals from the suspect Holy Land Foundation and others involved in raising money for Hamas. Sources allege that Aulaqi has even more extremist connections.

But none of these links are considered strong enough for criminal charges, and the investigation is closed.

[9/11 Commission, 7/24/2004, pp. 517] Al Aulaqi is beginning to associate with hijackers Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almihdhar shortly before the investigation ends. For instance, on February 4, one month before the FBI investigation is closed, Al Aulaqi talks on the telephone four times with hijacker associate Omar al-Bayoumi.

The 9/11 Commission will later speculate that these calls are related to Alhazmi and Almihdhar, since al-Bayoumi is helping them that day, and that Alhazmi or Almihdhar may even have been using al-Bayoumi’s phone at the time (see February 4, 2000).

Al-Bayoumi had also been the subject of an FBI counterterrorism investigation in 1999 (see September 1998-July 1999).

Imam From Va. Mosque Now Thought to Have Aided Al-Qaeda - Feb. 2008

Excerpt:

Even before the 2001 terrorist attacks, American-born imam Anwar al-Aulaqi drew the attention of federal authorities because of his possible connections to al-Qaeda. Their interest grew after 9/11, when it turned out that three of the hijackers had spent time at his mosques in California and Falls Church, but he was allowed to leave the country in 2002.

New information later surfaced about his contacts with extremists while in the United States. Now, U.S. officials are saying for the first time that they believe that Aulaqi worked with al-Qaeda networks in the Persian Gulf after leaving Northern Virginia. In mid-2006, Aulaqi was detained in Yemen at the request of the United States. To the dismay of U.S. authorities, Aulaqi was released in December.

"There is good reason to believe Anwar Aulaqi has been involved in very serious terrorist activities since leaving the United States, including plotting attacks against America and our allies," said a U.S. counterterrorism official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

A few years ago I wondered what kind of a country we'd be living in in 10 years. Now I wonder what kind of a country it'll be tomorrow.

From another story, in the UK Telegraph, which gives a chronology (boldface added):

Tuesday 4pm

It may have been the first, small clue that an apparently ordinary week at the world's largest army base was about to become something horrifically different, when neighbours saw Major Nidal Hasan escorting a visitor into his flat.

Other residents at the Casa del Norte apartment complex were surprised to see the mild-mannered army officer accompanied by another man in Islamic dress.

Alice Thompson, 53, who manages the two storey block of simple dwellings with her husband John, told The Sunday Telegraph: "It was very unusual because he had never had anyone round before. His visitor had long black hair and a moustache and a dark complexion. He stayed about five minutes and then left. We'd never seen him before."

Moustache, no beard. My guess is Duane Reasoner would be downtown if Ms Thompson had id'ed him to the FBI.
