The "our sacred lands" part is somewhat laughable, as the Sioux didn't arrive in this area, until the 1700s, when they were pushed (or simply moved) out of upper Minnisota & parts of Wisconsin, onto the Plains, and eventually crossing the Misouri River.

Every land is sacred
Every land is good
Every land is needed
When it's your neighborhood (and loaded with mineral wealth)

My point about asking for the deed is they lost the land originally in a war. They were given some of the land back in a treaty that was later ignored.

To give them the land back today you would have to take it from someone else. People live in the Black Hills.

Indians committed many atrocities of their own during the war. Should they pay restitution for those?

“The worst poverty I’ve ever seen was on Indian reservations in South Dakota and Arizona...not in inner city ghettos.”

Yes, and the worst rates of alcoholism and suicide.

I’ve seen the homes given to the Indians in those areas. Where everything possible was immediately ripped out and sold for booze. The pipes, the wiring, even the kitchen sink.

Exactly what it is. They do not want any safe havens. The Lakota are very concerned about what the Goobermint is up to. I have met the Chief and seen him speak. He is an honest guy who is in great fear of the future of the Sioux and believe it or not this country.

check out "Blue Zones" for one of many sources - or the historical records in "Touch the Earth" for another of many.

I find that people who make downgrading remarks and/or slurs to others in the process of making their case, (you accuse me of Laughable ignorance,) seem either to not be sure of their own stance, (for good reason), or have, on this subject, a visceral hatred of of Native Americans,.

In most "civilized" conversations, I find Native Americans more civil...and far better orators.
