Some readers have asked if -- with the release of topless photos and now a solo sex tape -- conservatives, or Christians, or conservative Christians, should consider former Miss California Carrie Prejean a role model. The question strikes me as off-base, a hybrid of the cult of hero worship and the 24/7 media's information overload.
The underlying issue in the Prejean case is not -- or at least, it has never been for me -- one of the pageant (near-)winner’s character or admirability. It's a simple matter of the Left's aggressive politicization of every aspect of life, including beauty pageants and football.

Carrie Prejean was thrust into the spotlight because she answered some twirp’s question about gay marriage in the same light that Barack Obama would have. But the mysogyny of the gay twirp who asked her suddenly overflowed.
Ms. Prejean may have taken some topless photos and I generally disapprove of girl’s touching themselves on camera and sending it to a boyfriend for all the right reasons and one of the reasons is that boyfriends sometime break up with you or sell you out.
If Carrie Prejean was spouting pro-abortion and pro-Obama nonsense then the focus would be on how “intolerant” this country is and how “disloyal” her boyfriend’s act of betrayal was. Since she’s a traditional conservative, the attack dogs are coming after her.
And Carrie Prejean is proof that sometimes good girls do naughty things. It doesn’t change the nature of who Carrie Prejean is trying to become and that is a follower of Christ.
Her eternal moment of truth may indeed have been when that degenerate asked her a loaded question and she was faced with the opportunity to take sides in Eternity. She choose Life and Christ and turned away from the emptiness of diseased celebrity.
If you can touch them, they’re real.
Hence, neither the OE/factory equipment or the aftermarket bolt-ons are real for either of us ;)
I agree with your take on it.
This doesn’t mean that we have to deny she did anything wrong. Christians are not supposed to claim perfection. They are try as best they can to live as close to it as they can, knowing full well they will have weak moments.
The left makes no bones about being happy as a lark to live as close to the model of Satan as they can. That’s better?
They never have to apologize, because they have adopted pure evil as the goal. And frankly, the live the goal more closely than I would think anyone would want to.
What better role model is there than a person that has seen her life mistakes, repented of them, changed her life around completely, and now walks with the Lord. I can’t think of any.
I recall reading that Prejean, as part of her entering the contest for Miss California or whatever it was, had to sign a form that stated she didn't have any nude pictures or sex tapes floating about. I do agree the reason that she was booted out of her position as Miss California was her stance on gay issues - but she has given her opponents all the ammo they need, and then some, by having made those pictures and that video.
If Mary Magdalene lived today, she might be doing sex tapes.

This is just another example of how modern day laftist are really facist. The left is so obsessed with gay marriage that they crucify any public person who disagrees with them. There was an article in National Review lately suggesting that it might be agrued that Carrie Prejean may have saved our country from gay marriage. The polls after the ‘08 election were going in the pro-gay marriage direction and now after the Prejean incident that has changed. That may go a long way in explaining the vile hatred this decent woman has experienced.

I think there’s some room to state what you have here.
As for the video provided to her boyfriend, what do you say if asked about such a video and it hasn’t been made public yet? I would answer no. If it had, I think you’re right on target.
As for the photos, do they show full nudity or just upper body nudity? Are there photos below the waist? Where did those come from? Did they show up after the “question”, or before she applied?
It’s amazing to me the respect given to women who make agreements to have full open crotch shots of themselves taken an published for all the world to see, and the scorn placed on someone who did this for a loved one.
The same media players would would hug and kiss a Playboy Playmate on the cheek, are the ones trying to make Prejean into a tramp.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been impressed by the clean image some media woman presented, only to find a stack of stuff on them by accident. And of course, they’re glamed to the max, no downside whatsoever.
As others have said, if Prejean answered the question correctly, she could have murdered someone in her past and it would have been okay.
I didn't know that beauty pageants were 'really' considered to be role models for Christians to follow.
I thought they were more about appealing to the base sexual desires of man.
Young people make mistakes. It is how they learn sometimes. Judge them on how they move forward after the mistake. Carrie has moved forward in a positive way.
