White House Counsel Craig to Step Down
Fox News ^ | 11-13-09

White House Counsel Greg Craig is expected to announce on Friday that he plans to step down from his post following a rocky tenure, people familiar with the matter said.

Craig, the top lawyer at the White House and a close aide to President Barack Obama, has helped lead the administration's efforts on several national-security policies that initially enjoyed popular support but have since become liabilities for Obama.

These include the planned closure of the prison for terrorism suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the release of Bush administration-era national-security documents.

Oh brother. I knew when I saw the name it rung a bell. One of my best friends is an attorney with that firm in their Madison, Wisc. office. HUGE firm.

...Obama's statement said Bauer is "well-positioned to lead the Counsel's office as it addresses a wide variety of responsibilities, including managing the large amount of litigation the administration inherited...

A pathetic excuse for a chief executive.

Why did his parents name him Gregg...Craig? That seems like child abuse.

I think the issue is simple: money. Craig took a 7 digit pay cut to work at the WH, and the Obamaites treated him like $hit.

Craig has represented numerous high-profile clients. In 1981, he was a member of the team that represented John Hinckley, Jr., who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan. helping put together an insanity defense that led to Hinckley’s acquittal.[6].......

A White House Counsel salary can hardly compete with the option of having a multitude of private sector clients. So I am not the least bit surprised he would want to have a higher level of income.

“He’s getting rid of all the Clintonistas.”

That’s something that struck me at the beginning- The 0ne has picked, or was given, everyone from the Co-Presidency, including Hillary herself, to run things.

Maybe now he’ll install his real team.

Somewhere I read that he has barely begun to fill cabinet positions, but his list of czars is the one that grows. Anyone know if that is true?

I don't know if that's true but I have a friend who works in the government who told me just a few weeks ago that there are still some senior political appointee positions that have not been filled (and Bush appointee's are still in the positions), because every time they think they've found the replacement, they do a check and find out out that that person has "tax problems," so -- they decline to put that person up for appointment. Apparently, and I have no way to confirm this, so am repeating, "apparently," this has happened at least 3 times for one certain position.
