Battling with one of the world's highest murder rates, Venezuela on Wednesday crushed more than 30,000 guns seized from the streets during police raids this year.
Policemen used blow-torches to chop up some of shotguns and pistols. They compacted weapons including home-made pistols into a 5 ton block...

Venezuela's murder rate is about 8 times that of the United States.

Crater-face Chavez needs to learn that it’s difficult seizing arms when the confiscators are seeing their brains blown out from 500 yards distance.

Journalists don’t know anything. You know they never worked a day in their lives and have no idea of the difference between an acetylene torch and a blow torch. Blow torch probably sounds really cool to them so they use it, not knowing how stupid they sound doing so. The only thing I ever saw a blow torch used for(other than heating some of the pipes in winter)was for my step-Dad to heat his soldering iron.
In days of yore the blow torch was also used to burn old paint off house siding and trim to prep them for repainting. As most homes were built out of wood, well seasoned and dried out by the time they required repainting, there was an obvious downside to this procedure.
The technique eventually waned in popularity when the power washer was invented and the blow torch was subsequently retired to the cellar workshop where it found a new life heating up soldering irons.
