You might enjoy this from the liberal hillbuzz site, if you haven’t already seen it.
They miss President and Mrs.Bush pretty seriously, and are willing to admit they were wrong in their assessment of him.
The conservatives making comments on there are not shy about Bushs either. And are gracious.
But hes a million times better than what we have now!
O may have done something we could never do.....which is...bring them over to our side to vote for a while.
Thank you for re-posting the link to hillbuzz . . . I read their beautifully written and reasoned commentary about GWB a few days ago and was astounded beyond words — Did I somehow miss hell freezing over?!
:-)
I guess you don't remember Harriet Miers or W's big push for amnesty. Both boneheaded moves stopped by the will of the people.
Bumper sticker idea: TOTUS in 2012: “Next, please”
GWB spent 8 years killing Islamic headchoppers by the thousands.
God bless him.
Excellent points, Once-Ler!
On the other hand, no one/no candidate is perfect and it's easy to dwell on a politician's faults, but it's also nice to be reminded about the many good things he did. The more we see of obama, the better I remember Bush.
The massacre at Fort Hood and obama's absentee, no decision about Afghanistan makes me wonder what the military and agencies like the CIA would say about Bush and about obama. I think I already know...
K. But let's keep it real.
You may have missed it, but hasn’t Laura gone out of her way more than once to hail Obama?
There was a White House “education” conference in late 1989, and GHWB almost tripped over himself saying nice things about Bill Clinton. I SAW IT! Too bad, he was so uninformed.
As it turned out though, Kemp was just another Bush. Remember, how he catered to Gore in the 1996 “debate”?
I have missed that—but I can assure you that Laura Bush would never diss the POTUS, regardless of who he is or what he does. She has way too much class for that.
Yes, and there was Anthony Kennedy and Reagan’s King Day, which fed mightily into “white guilt” and helped to pave the way for Obama 25 years later.
Harriet Miers was an inspired, non-elitist pick — she would have been a MUCH better SCJ than Sandra Day O’Connor (ala Reagan).
FYI: I think you’re ‘abit confused . . . It was President Reagan that ACTIVELY campaigned for and signed an ACTUAL amnesty bill — the bill advocated by President Bush was no such thing. Unfortunately, this doesn’t matter to you does it? After all, you’re only interested in agenda-driven ‘talking points’ not the ‘facts’!
How many times did Reagan say we needed illegal aliens to do the jobs Americans won't do, as W did ad nauseum?
President Bush was a LBJ Democrat, and I'm being polite.
Stop defending a open border socialist.
Some of President Bush's failures:
Thousands killed by illegal immigrants
-Gave hundreds of millions to the Palestinian Authority
-Tens of Billions for Aids in Africa
-No Child Left Behind
-The first in a recent wave of socialized medicine-Prescription Drug care
-TARP
-Pushed for AMNESTY!
-Bailouts, Bailouts, etc
-Gave FANNIE and FRED Billions!
-Patriot Act[Now Obama gets to play with it]
-DHS
etc
When all was said in done, he turned to Gov’t for solutions, not freedom or the individual.
The list goes on. I find a Republican destroying our country worse than a Rat doing it; simply because I expect more fron a Republican.
The 06 election and since then WAS the result of Pres Bush being a Rat.
I disagree, because that was his plan all along. He campaigned on a "new tone in Washington" and "compassionate conservatism."
BTW, I think you left CFR and his short list of vetoes off your list. Perfectly understandable, considering all his screw ups.
A “hater” and a “moonbat” — keep chatting among yourselves; no one else is ‘listening’.
Sorry to be so late in getting back to you.
Of course, you are welcome to using the term. I have a feeling that the synonyms for “stupid” and “incompetent” will be exhausted by the time this, this thing’s term is over. I’ve never seen anything like him in all my born days.
He and his policies are going to ruin millions of lives.
