Bigoted Religious Extremists [Guess which religion's bigotry Ft. Hood demonstrates]
Time ^ | 11-16-09

There are today several odious attempts by Jewish extremists, like this one by Martin Peretz and this one by La Pasionaria of the Neocons, to argue that the massacre perpetrated by Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs as opposed to a direct consequence of his insanity. To be sure, extreme religious beliefs and violent insanity are not mutually exclusive. Indeed, they tend to track--among fanatics of all religions. There was, for example, the lunatic Jewish settler, Baruch Goldstein, who opened fire on Muslims praying at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron in 1994, killing 24 and wounding more than 100. There was also the lunatic Jewish settler who assassinated Yitzak Rabin. I can't remember many Jews calling these effusions of violence as a natural consequence of devout Judaism. They were acts of psychopathy, as was Hasan's bloodbath.

---snip---

In the meantime, we should identify the notion that Hasan's act was somehow a consequence of his religious orthodoxy for what it is: anti-Islamic bigotry.

For those who might not get the La Pasionaria allusion,...

Perhaps we should start referring to Joe as the Goebbels of the Neolibs.

...err...maybe no one was calling these "effusions of violence as a natural consequence of devout Judaism" because their Holy Book says 'Don't do this stuff - it is wrong. It is an affront to the Holy God'...

And maybe they are saying that Hasan's (and countless other jihadis) actions ARE a natural consequence of devout islamism - because their books (koran and hadiths) instruct their believers to commit such atrocities... [and by the way, it wasn't the Holy God who provided the inspiration for the koran ... it was the 'other fellow' - Lucifer is one of his names]

He was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from listening to all the soldiers describe the brutal torture they applied to Afghan and Iraqi women and children. Also he was suffering from the damage to the world inflicted by George W Bush and the neocons.

As he snapped, he was picturing in his mind all the greedy Wall St bankers and imperialist nation-builders who have robbed the working world of capital and imposed western laws upon the peaceful followers of G-d, and he did the quite understandable thing. Who can blame him?

Never mind that Hasan never went into combat, and that he shouted, "Allahu akbar" as he killed our soldiers. That was not relevant. All you Jewish extremists, stop it right now.

So, Joe Klein is now a licensed mental health professional and can assess the mental states of people he’s never met?

Why not? They did it for George W. Bush, and now Sarah Palin, too. Being a liberal gives you special powers a mere mortal can never comprehend.

Pre-traumatic stress. The media doesn't mention it much, but he treated pre-deployment patients, not post deployment

OH MY GOD!!!

SJackson. You didn't put Joe Klein's name in the author field. I read this straight through thinking it was some demented letter from a reader which an editor on a crack bender had allowed to slip through.

But it's a major Time contributor, a “real” journalist, CFR member, Guggenheim Fellow, blah, blah, blah, who wrote this, which in fact reads exactly like something scrawled in crayon by a whacked antisemite! How embarrassing for Klein. How embarrassing for Time.

I bailed on Time decades ago. I knew it had become laughably pathetic then, and assumed it must have only gotten worse, but in my wildest imagination I had no idea.

My mistake. Yes, this is big time American journalism.

Then I suppose David Ben Gurion was a dangerous right wing extremist and Tze'nah, Tze'nah, Tze'nah, Tze'nah is the Horstwessellied.

Hmmm... second pronouncement by Mr. Klein regarding the treasonous murderer hasan and those evil Joos. He must be really smart because he can see stuff no one else can.

“”as opposed to a direct consequence of his insanity.””

Who declared him insane and when? WOW! That was certainly fast. Now if our court system can work that fast, the murderer will be gone from our midst!

There’s plenty of evidence that he was a conscious fundamentalist who approved of suicide bombings.

The guy freakin' gave a grand rounds presentation consisting of a 50+ slide Power Point saying as much! That nobody acted upon this is a separate crime in and of itself.

Farrakhan sees it too. This is an attempt by anti-Islamic forces, and some members of the Jewish community, and some members of the Christian community, who have united to condemn Islam and to speak ill of our Prophet Muhammad
