Pelosi switches to jobs (great, just great)
The Hill ^ | 11/16/2009 | Mike Soraghan

House Democratic leaders, worried they’ve appeared unresponsive to rising unemployment because they were absorbed by healthcare, are aiming for a legislation solution by Christmas.

That focus follows a similar shift in the Senate, where Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told colleagues he also plans to bring up a jobs measure, The Hill reported first last week.

The House change began Monday night when leaders scheduled AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and Robert Kuttner, co-editor of The American Prospect, to address the House Democratic Caucus.

And it could end with an economic package on the floor sometime in December, Democratic sources said.

But some leadership aides cautioned that leaders are still debating whether to do one large package or a series of smaller bills.

And they say the Obama administration has yet to get on board.

One way or another, aides say, House Democrats’ message from now to Christmas will be about jobs.

yes.

Business will be FINED if they don’t hire.

People will be FINED if they do not find a job.

The new jobs bill will pay for itself & be deficit neutral.

When it comes to Pelosi/Reid I am a huge believer in the first amendment; especially the first five words.

So they’re going to make it illegal to be unemployed?

Here’s the rub, Americans won’t abide by anything that passes that takes away our rights. We’re all in our minds plotting ways to avoid anything governmental this admin passes. I have a friend who’s trying to figure out how to be dead, and live as an illegal. They’ll have more rights than citizens. Think about that. People are devising ways to not be citizens.

If they want to cut executive pay for companies which lose money then let’s apply the same standard to them. With today’s deficits they’d owe us.

That won’t happen until a real conservative with a real conservative congress is in power. Bambi is the best thing that’s happened to conservatives, he’s the worst thing to happen to our country.

As much as I don't like the Federal Reserve's role in all this, if congress gets greater control over the Fed this is exactly what they'll do. The Federal Reserve may not be angels, but they're not as stupid as congress.

When people come knocking, knocking on congress' door due to unemployment, you can bet they'll fire up the pay-off press pronto and destroy the dollar.

Planning ahead...many are going to need a new job 2010.

I just hope he doesn’t create such a giant welfare state and corrupted election system that he becomes “president for life.”

If I was president, I’d cut all their budgets by 75%, I’d create all sorts of energy stuff and let the bureaucrats find jobs in that sector. Attrition is a wonderful thing.

Nancy Pelosi - 500 million jobs losst unless Obama's stimulus package passes

“Some 500,000 Americans will lose their jobs each month until we have a recovery package,” she then said to correct herself.

IBM draws criticism for job cuts, outsourcing

IBM's reported plans to lay off thousands of U.S. workers and outsource many of those jobs to India, even as the company angles for billions in stimulus money, doesn't sit well with employee rights advocates.

State (Tennessee) outsourcing call center jobs overseas

It isn't unheard of for industries to outsource jobs and send them overseas. But if the state recently put unemployed Tennesseans to work for Tennessee in a state-run call center in Perry County, why is the state still outsourcing a huge amount of call center work overseas? In an effort to help jump-start the county's economy, the state opened the call center using stimulus money.

How many jobs in the stimulus bill could be offshore outsourced?

Snip: Outsourcing expert Ron Hira points to promotion of offshore outsourcing as the agenda by the Obama administration.

84% of green technology jobs being outsourced

The very companies lobbying for stimulus money and government contracts are outsourcing every job that is a good job created with our tax money as our unemployment rate hits 10.2% This is just another nail in the coffin of the apparent lie that Americans need more education for good paying jobs in the future.

7 months after stimulus 49 of 50 states have lost jobs

7 Months After Stimulus 49 of 50 States Have Lost Jobs America Now Over 6 Million Jobs Shy of Administration's Projections Wednesday, October 21, 2009 The table below compares the White House's February 2009 projection of the number of jobs that would be created by the 2009 stimulus law (through the end of 2010) with the actual change in state payroll employment through September 2009 (the latest figures available).  According to the data, 49 States and the District of Columbia have lost jobs since stimulus was enacted.  Only North Dakota has seen net job creation following the February 2009 stimulus.  While President Obama claimed the result of his stimulus bill would be the creation of 3.5 million jobs, the Nation has already lost a total of 2.7 million – a difference of 6.2 million jobs.  To see how stimulus has failed your state, see the table below.
