Ozarkers Across the Political Spectrum Snag Palin's Book

Sarah Palin certainly turned heads when she made an appearance in springfield just weeks before the 2008 presidential election, and now she's turning pages locally too.

Many people in the Ozarks seem to be "Going Rogue.

In fact south Springfield's Borders was in the nation's top ten for most copies of Palin's new memoir reserved ahead of Tuesday's release.

George Carlin's "Last Words" may very well be forgotten.

"Yeah i'm going to get it," one Borders patron says.

He's not talking about George, bur rather his shelf-mate- one-time vice presidential hopeful turned best-seller hopeful Sarah Palin's political memoir.

"Since we opened the store [Tuesday] the majority of what we sold was that book," Borders Manager Gary Selby tells us.

It could be because "Going Rogue" seems to be going well with just about every reader's personal library, regardless of political affiliation.

"Professionally I don't think she was ready to be vice president or president," says Dan Altepeter, who bought the book just minutes before talking with us.

"I saw her when she was here. I was very impressed with her," Jan Murphy tells us.

"She tried really hard, but bless her heart, I just don't think she had what it took, and that's what I want to see - how much whining she's doing in here," Sue Hamby tells us, a copy of Palin's memoir in her hand.

"When she wants to get something done, she gets it done," Jeremiah Mohr, a Palin supporter says.

And apparently she did.

Whether you like her or not copies of Palin's book are already dwindling, but south Springfield's Borders anticipated that.

It's no stranger to big name books that draw big crowds.

In fact, usually it hosts midnight launch parties to accommodate fans of books like the Twilight Saga and Harry Potter.

"We had 700 to 800 people in the store in that night," Selby recalls.

This time the store is hosting Palin herself.

"I anticipate it being a camp-out thing."

She'll be holding a book-signing there, but readers say they're not after her autograph; they're more interested in the impact of her "first words."

"I certainly could be a supporter of her in four to eight years. Maybe this book will be the start of that, maybe it won't. I don't know," says Altepeter.

Sarah Palin will be signing her book at Borders from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2nd.

The store will open at 7 a.m, and customers will get a wrist-band- a different color for every 100 people.

Just remember no pictures at the front table, and Palin will only autograph the book.

I’m sure someone will. Springfield is my home town and it’s a damn conservative place. She will be welcome here.

Here is the text of the e-mail I sent to KSPR-TV:

Dear Sir or Madam,

To whom do I speak about getting a job proofreading your website?

Sincerely, (Texas Eagle)
(Small Northern California Town)

"Professionally I don't think she was ready to be vice president or president," says Dan Altepeter

What a moron. Gov. Palin had a thousand times more experience than the community organizer Whiner-in-Chief Obozo. Not to mention being a whole lot smarter and more articulate than Foot-in-Mouth Biden, who like Obozo never held a real job and who embarasses himself everytime he opens his mouth.

Obviously she wasn't as ready to be Vice-President or President as you are, Dan Altepeter.

But then, who is?

Professionally?!?

I am so sure that Dan is qualified to speak concerning Sarah Palin "Professionally", NOT!

Sue you are an IDIOT. You will be the one whining when you are out of job, or have a butt load of taxes to pay, all because you voted for the One.
