The government watchdog overseeing economic stimulus spending says the White House was too quick to take credit for saving or creating 640,000 jobs.
The White House trumpeted job figures released last month, saying they proved the administration is on track to save or create 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.

Keep in mind: this guy LIKES Obama...he wants BO to SUCCEED...and even HE is saying this stimulus is BS.
Can you imagine if there were an INDEPENDENT, OBJECTIVE analysis of the porkulus package????
“Job Creation Data Flawed”
“Flawed”? How about fake, phoney and fraudulent? (H/T to Bob Grant)
Geez, how mealy-mouth these Washington freaks are! Tell it like it is damn it. They tried to lie to the American people to fool them into thinking their atrocious socialist, corrupt union croney slush fund, known as the “Stimulus Package” was actually successful. I hate their dissembling words.
obama and his radical admin caught lying again and still there will be sheep who follow blindly because they feel their cult leader can do no wrong or because they just see a D at the end of their name
Augusta’s Head Start program got more than $700,000 in stimulus funds.
News 12 was there as old windows came out and new windows went in at some of Augusta’s Head Start schools.
“Oh,” grunted Chris Whitely about the application process. “It has just wore me out.”
Chris Whitley is fiscal officer for the Central Savannah River Area Economic Opportunity Authority. The authority oversees the Head Start program. Chris spoke with News 12 about the formula he used to justify the number of jobs created.
“And in my case it would be .03 people,” said Chris.
So Chris tuned to Washington for answers.
“He was just as dumbfounded as I was,” said Chris of the person who answered his call. “Then he came back and said, ‘Put 317 jobs down. That will be the jobs retained.’”
“But how many jobs did you create?” we asked Gloria Lewis, director of the CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority.
“We actually hired one new person,” Gloria said. “We reported 317 because that was the directive that we got.”
“I’m not going to blame anybody,” said Chris. “I will say I eventually put the 317 down. I will say I should have put zero.”

According to a letter from the Department of Health and Human Services, the grant money was never meant to create jobs. The money would provide a COLA, or one-time pay raise for—get this—all 317 employees. It would also provide quality improvement funding for work like replacing school windows. So what happened?
“It was inflating jobs created that should not have been done,” said Chris. “I guess now in hindsight after all this I would [have] put a big fat 0 in there and just moved on.”
The office suggests they will have an opportunity to revise the numbers. Chris say it will never happen again.

The below September 3, 2009 quote is NOT from The Onion:
“The recovery act has played a significant role in changing the trajectory of our economy, and changing the conversation in this country,” Biden said. “Instead of talking about the beginning of a depression, we are talking about the end of a recession.”

This is so ridiculous that it’s laughable (not in a funny, haha, sort of way though)!

On Monday, President Obama tasked one-time cop and Secret Service agent Earl Devaney with his largest policing job yet: monitoring spending of the administration’s $787 billion stimulus plan.
Obama announced his selection of Devaney, currently inspector general at the Department of the Interior, as chairman of the new Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. Devaney will work with Vice President Joe Biden to monitor for wasteful spending and issue periodic reports to the public. It’s a familiar watchdog role for the long-time government servant. During his tenure at Interior, Devaney uncovered the shady dealings of disgraced ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, an investigation that eventually led to Abramoff’s imprisonment and the resignation of Interior’s no. 2, J. Steven Griles, for lying under oath about his own role in the scandal. Devaney previously worked as the chief of criminal enforcement at the Environmental Protection Agency, where he was responsible for heading up all the agency’s criminal investigations.
Devaney won’t have a lot of time to get situated in his new position; states will receive the first stimulus funds on Wednesday. Obama has already warned governors that the stimulus money is “not a blank check” and that he plans to treat misappropriations harshly. If Devaney’s history is any indication, Obama has found a watchdog quite capable of letting him and the public know about any malfeasance.

“Earl has doggedly pursued waste, fraud and mismanagement [and] has the reputation of being one of the best inspector generals that we have in this town. I can’t think of any more tenacious and efficient guardian of the hard-earned tax dollars the American people have entrusted us to wisely invest.”
Barack Obama (Feb. 23, 2009, CNN)
“He looks like an inspector, he’s tough, you know he barely cracks a smile.”
Barack Obama (Feb. 23, 2009, BBC)
It offends me the way the current regime just tells one bald faced lie after another, but I’m not surprised. That’s what leftists do.
What really enrages me is the way the news media gives them a pass. Where is 60 minutes on this? Why isn’t this a top story on the evening news? Why don’t we have articles in Time?
Sean Hannity may be a boob on a lot of things, but one statement he repeats is spot on: Journalism in America is dead.
You mean that the claim of one county buying a riding mower which created 60 jobs is not true?
The current rate of “job creation” from the stimulus package is about $1 million per job.
There is only one God blessed question that needs asked at this juncture...
NO! The Administration is lying? Who of thunk it?
I was reading the constitution. It would seem pretty clear to me that accepting any money would be illegal without congressional approval, even from the Nobel Peace Committee.
The Nobel peace committee was not elected by any US citizen, and has no business greasing my presidents palm.
I, as a US citizen, know that the Nobel committee is determined to undermine the US. I see this as a bribe to continue damaging the US interests.
Wow I have never thought of that one, quite like that.
I see the peace prize as a fixed world podium to enable Ob ama to usher in global communism; world climate garbage, so you have a point.
