Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) said Friday night that shes leaning towards voting to start debate on the health care bill which would leave Democrats just a single vote shy of clearing a critical test for the reform package on Saturday.
Asked outside the Capitol if shes made up her mind on starting the debate, Landrieu said she planned to announce her intentions Saturday but told POLITICO, Im leaning towards it.
That would mean Senate Majority Leader Harry Reids hopes for a successful vote hinge on one senator: Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), who remained mum about her intentions as the clock ticked down to the critical vote.
Lincoln told POLITICO Friday afternoon that she has no timetable to make her decision ahead of the vote, scheduled for 8 p.m. "I was told I have time to make my decision," Lincoln said.
And Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) announced he would vote yes on going ahead with debate, even though he is calling for significant amendments to the bill on the floor.
Democrats from the White House to Capitol Hill projected confidence that Reid would have the 60 votes needed to start debate on health reform, despite the reservations expressed by senators on various details in the bill.

Well of course she is.....can you say jackpot!?
There ain’t a democrat born, raised or converted who can’t be bought.
a $100 MILLION Brib can do that to a Lib! Just Damn!
Baby Moon didn’t fall far from the tree...
So far not able to fax Reid, Boxer ot Notso-Feinstein
A Democrat is a rat is rat is a rat.
Every wretched dog who is leaning or undecided is a YES vote.
Hey Mary, how much money did it take for you to sell your integrity..100 bucks, 200 bucks..we are so screwed..the Dems dont even give a damn about losing next years elections, they want this passed now so that America as we know it is finished
Then she is simply a political whore.
If I had 100 mill. in my pocket I’d lean somehow too ....
Political Harlot. I wanted to use the W word but I am a civilized person.
Little Mary aleady sold out a House seat for La. - won’t be surprised if she does this as well.
Well! We now know her price to be a Prostitute!
$100,000,000.00 of Our Money given by the dirtbag, Dinghy Harry Reid!! to sell her Self!!
I kinda like that everyone will know why she votes yes on this thing! 100 Million bucks for Medicade that will be gone in a year! Smart move to get the votes.
Rush said today Reid wouldn’t be bringing this to a vote if he didn’t have the votes. They have the votes.
He’s also calling them the kamikaze senators.
Question: The way Harry Reid has stacked this deck, can even the Dems get their say without moving to debate?
I think Reid backed himself into a corner here. His own party isn’t backing him unquestionably. It seems all have ‘necessary’ changes to HIS bill.
If this vote dies, healthcare in the Senate would be dead (I think) for the foreseeable future.
If it goes to debate, he will have to make changes. Once the changes are made it’s a 50/50 chance it will pass.
If it passes, it will have to go to Conference Cmte with the House. They are worlds apart on provisions and a compromise may not be available on all dearly held issues.
If a Compromise bill is rendered, will it pass a vote in both houses with constituent pressures of late.
Then the Pubbies haven’t even weighed in ... course Reid and Pelosi can pull a maneuver to ‘nuke’ them out. But that would mean disaster for this Democrat Congress.
Sen. Landfill, I think, will vote the Party line. She has no choice.
So, Sen. Landrieu, will you sleep with me for 50 cents?
“Of course not!” she exclaimed with disgust...”What kind of woman do you think I am?”
We already know what kind of woman you are...we’re just negotiating a price!

Apparently the hacks at the Politico can’t count. There are 40 Republicans. If Lieberman votes with the 40 Republicans, that = 41. That puts the rats at 59, not 60.
For those of us unfortunate enough to have Dem senators, we need to ask them why they failed to get $100M for our states like Louisianna did. LOL.
What a shock.
That said, Max Baucus has flown back home where his mother is critically ill.
“So, Sen. Landrieu, will you sleep with me for 50 cents?
Of course not! she exclaimed with disgust...What kind of woman do you think I am?

LOL...and so true. The other so-called “hold-outs” are waiting for their 100 mil.
There’s NOTHING LEAN about Susie Creamcheese Landrieu.....she;sa LYING PIG.
Did Harry leave the 100 million on the nightstand for Mary?
Did anyone doubt this?
Lieberman is not with them.
“For those of us unfortunate enough to have Dem senators, we need to ask them why they failed to get $100M for our states like Louisianna did. LOL.”
Yeah, All my Illinois Senator Burris got was a lousy pardon from the Senate Ethics committee....
Tomorrow’s vote... from the same article.
Lieberman did say he’s “strongly inclined” to vote to proceed to the debate, but that hell ultimately vote to block a floor vote on the bill if it isnt changed first.
How about Prostitute ?
She has a price. Like a vegas whore
Will Robert Byrd be able to make it to the chamber to vote?
We should be calling Liberman’s office and telling him to vote NO. There’s no way in hell the bill can be changed in any way to make it acceptable.
He's with them tomorrow night, most likely.
Lieberman did say he's "strongly inclined" to vote to proceed to the debate, but that hell ultimately vote to block a floor vote on the bill if it isnt changed first.
Naw’lins has a long history of politicians taking bribes. Nothing to see here....move along!
This doesn't make sense. The vote scheduled tomorrow is to end "debate" as in to have cloture [filibuster] on this issue and go to a straight up and down majority vote. It appears to be double talk ; debate is already ongoing. Any leverage Lieberman had would end tomorrow if he votes for this abomination.
A clarification of my last post: a vote for ‘cloture’ ends the Senate filibuster.
See post 39 and 40.
LIEberman is voting YES on cloture tomorrow.
Of course not! she exclaimed with disgust...What kind of woman do you think I am?
We already know what kind of woman you are...were just negotiating a price!
This vote tomorrow is to officially bring the bill to the floor for debate/action. It takes unamious consent to do most things in the senate and to bring a bill to the floor is usually done that way. But if there is an objection then it has to be voted on. What Reid is looking for is a 60 +vote so the bringing of the bill to the floor can’t be filibustered. Once on the floor to end debate will require another 60+ vote if the vote call isn’t unamiously agreed to. Once that is accomplished then a 50 vote will passed the bill with Biden acting as the tie breaker. That’s my understanding of the process at this time.
Made a quick trip to DU, and unbelievably, their comments on Landrieu are identical to those posted here.
Then his past statement to block this atrocious bill was meaningless. He won't have any pull to stop the "public option plan" that he says he's against.
see my post at 37
Her vote was bought with $100 million of taxpayer’s money in a special earmark within the bill.
OK, that makes sense. It’s only a vote to debate it on the the floor. Seems like a nutty Senate procedure to just vote to debate an issue.
Landrieu, Nelson, and Liebermann are not even necessary to Reid as long as he has at least a dozen of the GOP marxists at his beck and call. “Cliffhanger?” Give me a break. there are only a score (at best) of conservatives in the Senate. With a majority of 80 potential votes Reid’s job is a walk in the park.
