Regular seasonal flu actually kills 34,000 to 36,000 a year and causes 200,000 hospitalizations. What makes H1N1 different is it is killing younger people with healthy immune systems. This indicates that the virus may be causing an immune reaction known as a cytokine storm. Cytokine storms are an extreme immune overreaction that can result in significant tissue / organ damage and death.

So basically, you don't want this bug. When I see people pretending the shot is more harmful than catching the flu, I'm compelled to point out that it's total BS.

You don't seem compelled to give any evidence to support your position. How many people have received the vaccine and how many people have contracted the flu. With that we can calculate a percentage relative to each that have died.

H1N1 is also different because it isn’t following the seasonal flu pattern. In months when there has historically been little flu activity and no flu deaths, there is pandemic flu activity and a number of deaths. If its virulence increases during the flu season just like seasonal flu, the deaths and hospitalizations incurred thus far will be like a drop in the bucket. That’s a big if, because we really don’t know what it’ll do through winter, but it’s worth taking precautions. IMHO.

so far, it is not killing as many people as regular flu....

or malaria...that kills 3000 people a DAY.....

I do sincerely have great sympathy for the younger people who have died....however, a death is a death, whether they be 10 yrs old or 90 yrs old....

this disease is opportunistic just like other diseases ....it has made millions sick, probably, because we actually don't know, and millions have gotten over it without much fanfare.

the story of this "pan-epidemic" will be: it was far less severe for MOST people than the experts thought it would be....and I predict that it has already peaked, and that there will be fewer deaths from it than the regular flu....
