I can see this. You have a generation who have never known bad economic times like this. Anything comparable was in the late 70’s early 80’s.
True, and for this generation, their “God” is material wealth, take that away, and well, what else is there?

Probably, if you’re on a “cadillac” health care plan they give you some good drugs. If you’re on the “public option” they just drop you off at a housing project so a gang of homies can beat you to death.
Your point on middle aged men is dead on. Especially guys who have been working 25+ years who are now looking down the road not at retirement, but going back 10-15 years overnight because of the economic situation. If we had a repub govt., the media would be running a nightly death count like they did during the Iraq war. I am surprised that there is any reporting on it at all. Makes their party look bad dontchaknow. A real good friend of mine was on the edge of suicide and we had to talk him down to earth. We explained that by living, there is always potential to get out of the bad sitiuation. If he killed himself, he was sentencing his family to an even more difficult future in addition to dealing with the suicide. Never a good solution.

My husb committed suicide in March 08 and not because of anything political or financial, but I MADE SURE he didn’t vote for Obama last year. I couldn’t rest until I made sure.
