Wow! I want to take this guy to a betting parlor. But seriously, life is a game of inches or milimeters. In high school about 40 years ago I was working out on the (gymnastics) parallel bars after hours. I was supporting myself with rigid arms and swinging my body and legs forward and up when my arms collapsed and I hit the floor on my shoulders. A bit of a different angle and my head might have hit first, possibly snapping my neck.

Let’s thank the Lieutenant for his service and steadfastness to duty.

True, but having a bullet go in your back and out your neck, with enough energy to go through your helmet, and still not kill you or even permanently maim you, is pretty darn lucky too.

I know a guy who got shot in the head, the 7.62x39 round took out one eye, and damaged the other. But he lived, he felt pretty lucky. He's now in a special Master's program at one of the Kansas schools, to become a counselor for other wounded troops. He's still in the Army, as is his wife. Both are, or were a year or so ago, Captains. She's a loggie, he was an infantry officer in a Bradley unit of IIRC, 4ID.
