Loss of diversity, says General Casey, would be worse than jihad murder: "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse."

O-M-G!

Across our political and media landscape, people are tripping over themselves to not call this event a terrorist attack despite the evidence to the contrary. Let’s turn the tables a bit here. Imagine if the attacker, instead of jumping up and shouting “Allahu akbar” (“God is great”) as Maj. Hassan has been reported to have said during the shooting, instead shouted “Jesus is Great!”

Well, we would have a never-ending parade of folks telling us about the evils of intolerant, fundamentalist Christian beliefs. But, you see Christianity is not a protected class, yet the so-called “religion of peace” (as even President Bush was quoted as calling Islam), whose staunchest most radical practitioners celebrate the murder of innocents, gets a pass.

This is borderline madness and is exhibited further by the media’s response.

The fact the alleged shooter is a Muslim nearly sent Newsweek’s Evan Thomas into a fit of babble similar to that of Gen. Casey. “I cringe that he’s a Muslim,” said Thomas. “I mean, because it inflames all the fears. I think he’s probably just a nut case. But with that label attached to him … I mean these things are tragic, but that makes it much worse.”

Then there is this gem from Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago who pointed to America's “love affair with guns” for the shootings. “Every day in society someone’s being killed,” Daley pontificated following the shootings.”Unfortunately, America loves guns. We love guns to a point that we see the devastation on a daily basis.”

You see, it’s your fault for cherishing the right to bear arms. It had nothing to do with terrorism.

Something fishy here. Either the Army is screwing up in it's statement, it's handling of AP's questions, or maybe they're worried the soldiers may get a bit carried away.

OTOH this is from AP.

How these people can find their way out of bed every morning is beyond me. For that matter, why they’re let out of bed is beyond me.

Supposed to remain non-political, although they certainly didn’t went Chuck Norris spoke at West Point. Cadets reaction is awesome.

And Sarah Palin has no problem with it, so why should we?

Could we know why and where these 'orders' come from!

argh. It is standard at every military post I know. One cannot come on to a military post and criticize the CIC...whether that CIC is Ronald Reagan, George Bush or Barrack Obama. Thank you

It’s no different than allowing members of congress to travel to a war zone, make speeches and take photos with the troops IMHO.

As a private citizen - just like Bob Hope! No one ever prevented him from speeches/photos!

Well it is different. The congressmen are not in the military.

And neither is Sarah - she's a private citizen. So how different is it?

If diversity became a casualty of this monstrous attack, I would call it a silver lining.

R E A L L Y !!!!!!!

Then WTF was “O”doing trooping around the world and shooting off his mouth, while “W” was still President???

Exactly, SMARTY. Can anyone explain to me what this all about?? Why can't Sarah just be Sarah anywhere in the US?

SOOOOO, in other words, the in order for the Army to have a proper helping of diversity, it has to include any jihadist who wishes to enlist or accept a commission, regardless of their allegiance to our Nation. By that token, are we to allow OBL to join our ranks? Any sensible person would agree that our military forces are a diverse group of people, but to state that there exists some unspeakable crime by calling this act of terror, exactly what it is (was) is going to hurt our diversity throughout our military, is just not right.

Who is more important here:

or...

Rather strange that personalized notes are not permitted in the book signing.

They must be worried that some of those getting their books signed will asked to have messages derogatory to the CIC.
