Oakland's defenders are generally quick to dismiss the list, either questioning its methodology or claiming the City is just doomed to sky-high violent crime because of its demographics.

I'm just guessing crimalien gang members are a large demographic and demonrat constituency group.

Not so many. The percentage of African-Americans in the cities’ populations is the overwhelming explanatory variable.

Out of the top ten cities listed, Oakland is unique in that it does not have an enormous black ghetto (it still has one, it is just small).

For the other nine cities, the crime is coming from american citizens and they are mostly black. Illegal immigration has little or nothing to do with the crime there.
