Monday Quotes:  Leader of the Opposition
November 23, 2009

"The greatest casualty with liberalism and political correctness is truth -- and that, as we're witnessing, leads to an erosion of freedom."

"I first heard about this movement in 1979; global cooling was going to kill us.
Then, by 1984, it had become global warming.
Basically what they were saying is that advanced lifestyles, progress, is killing the planet,
and that premise is something that I have rejected from the get-go."

"Here's the Media Tweak of the Day:  If anyone hacked into Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi's computer,
we would find the same kind of fraud and deceit as we have found in the global warming scam."

"I think that may be my problem with liberals:  I just have too much common sense.
Common sense, belief in God, belief in right and wrong... I'm a threat.  Ditto Sarah Palin."

"I had a very fortunate thing happen to me:  I was born a Limbaugh.
I learned starting at nine what liberals are, who Democrats are, and so one of the greatest things I'm thankful for is being born a Limbaugh."

"If you missed the first hour of this program, let me sum up for you:  Liberalism is a lie.
All of liberalism is a lie.  The media are liberals, and therefore they promulgate lies."

"I know who Obama is.  I know who educated him.  I know who raised him.  I know who his mentors were.  I know who his friends are.
And I only had to listen to him apologize for his own country once to have all of those associations and their importance to him confirmed."

"If somebody needs a political answer, you need to be the go-to guy, and let me tell you how you become the go-to guy:
Heritage Foundation, me, and Mark Levin's books."

"This is still America, and that means it's still worth fighting for, for you and your kids.
That's why I'm here and not in New Zealand."

"Mary Landrieu may be the most expensive prostitute in the history of prostitution, and she's bragging about it.
She's actually bragging about her $300 million payoff from Dingy Harry to get her vote on this health care scam."

"It's Thanksgiving week, and the first wave of the Limbaugh clan begin arriving this afternoon.
I always look forward to this week -- it's one of my favorite times of the year."

"When you hear a Democrat go on television and solemnly pronounce, 'I will not vote for this as it is written,"
know that they are not espousing core beliefs.  They are simply opening bids."

"Thirty-eight percent of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by Obama and the congressional Democrats;
that's the lowest level of support measured for the plan to date.  But it doesn't matter because the people in Washington are oblivious."

"Obama's entire agenda is based on everybody doing just that: having 5% pull the wagon, and having the other 95% be in it."

"The bottom line is the whole manmade global warming movement is a fraud, a hoax, and made-up lies.
Of course, I have known this since the beginning of the movement.
I'm the one who said militant environmentalism became the home of displaced communists after the Berlin Wall came down."

"Liberals are liberals wherever you find them:  in the global warming movement, in the health care movement, in the US Congress, in the White House...
Wherever they are, liberalism is a lie from top to bottom."

"What did Obama campaign on?  A bunch of nothing:  hope, change, marvelous speeches, platitudes, words.
If Barack Obama were honest about what he intended to do, he wouldn't have gotten 10% of the vote."

"The left goes after everybody because they hold everyone in equal contempt.  They must!
Their whole reason for living is the desire to amass power and to control everybody's lives."

"Everything is a damn crisis.  No wonder everybody's on edge all the time!  But I'm not.  I don't like being on edge.
I don't want to live that way, so I don't allow people to put me on edge."

"Every liberal agenda item is first preceded by a panic that will kill you, be it climate change, be it health care -- whatever.
Liberalism is just a rotting piece of scum, and everything it touches gets destroyed."

"Do you ever ask yourself, 'Why does it take 2,000 pages to come up with a plan to insure 30 million people with health insurance?'
Is there even an insurance policy that is 2,000 pages long?  Although, give a lawyer a month, I'm sure he could write one."

"When the Constitution is violated (as it is with federal mandates on health care), and people do not openly revolt over it,
then the Constitution is weakened, and individual freedom and liberty is lost.  Other than that, everything's hunky-dory."

"Let me ask you a question:  Why don't we have the government make everybody buy life insurance?
That way nobody would die -- at least by the other side's reasoning."

"Obama's asked his family in Kenya to apply for government grants.  He won't help them personally,
but somehow he's the nicest, most compassionate, smartest, most elegant president we've ever had."

"Even the New York Times is getting a tad troubled by Obama's trillions upon trillions of spending.
But I have to ask: Are these people nuts?  They wanted somebody like them, and that's what they got. So what's the fuss?"

"Story:  'Rhode Island's top Roman Catholic leader has asked Senator Patrick Kennedy to stop taking communion
over his support for abortion rights, the diocese said on Sunday.'  Now, this, my friends, is a smackdown!"

Continually repeat ...

It's not about me.
I'm the President.

From the Climate Hoax to Health Care to "Hope," Liberalism is Lies
The left's Madoffs always create a panic before the push.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I'll tell you, these e-mails that we told you about last week from that group in Great Britain that formed the basis for the UN's climate change panel and their recommendations, those e-mails apparently now are the real deal, and they may not have been hacked.  They may be from a whistle-blower inside the organization who is just unhappy about what's going on.

Now, the bottom line is, the whole man-made global warming movement is a fraud. It is a hoax. It's made-up lies.  I have known this since the beginning of the movement.  I'm the one who said that militant environmentalism is the home of displaced communists after the Berlin Wall came down.  Now, scientists cannot rely on common sense.  So the anti-global warmers have to go out there and get their own science to counter the science that the pro-global warming crowd is using, and they're making it up.  I instinctively know this for two reasons.  One -- and I've explained in great detail before so I'm not going to do it again because of time constraints -- is I believe in God.  As such, I don't believe that progress in human beings God created destroys the planet.  And that's what they are asking us to believe and have been asking us to believe for... Well, I first heard about this movement in 1979, back then it was global COOLING that was going to kill us.  By 1984 it had become global warming.  Basically what they're saying is advanced lifestyles, increased standards of living, progress is killing the planet.  No.  That premise is something I have rejected from the get-go.  I don't think we have the ability to.  But this is not science.  I'm not a scientist.  I'm just a guy imbued with an above-average abundance of common sense.

I've never been able to be convinced that driving automobiles will destroy our planet or our climate, when there are volcanoes that are far more pollutant-oriented than our automobiles are, and they've been going off since the beginning of time and we're still here.  But I don't want to go through the lecture that I've done many times before.  I want to focus on the fraud and the hoax that has been perpetrated, led by Algore.  They have been making up data. They have been jiggling the numbers. When conflicting data was discovered that didn't fit what their agenda item was, they ignored it.  These e-mails indicate that they despise and are obsessed with their critics.  They set out to have to destroy them.  It's just liberalism.  You know, liberals are liberals wherever you find them. In the global warming movement, in the health care movement, in the US Congress, in the White House, wherever they are, liberalism is a lie from top to bottom.

Well, liberalism must lie because if it were honest, if liberals were honest about what they were going to do... For example, if Barack Obama said during the presidential campaign, "My plan is to fundamentally change the way this nation works.  The capitalist system has been unfair. It's left too many people disadvantaged, too many people poor and too many people rich.  What I am going to do is destroy it, and I'm going to make sure that there aren't any more really rich people. We're going to take everything that they've got and distribute it to other people -- and we're going to make the government larger and larger and larger in order to do this to ensure the new fairness that I'm going to bring to everybody. And one of the first ways we're going to do it is run up a debt of $12 trillion that's going to require massive tax increases from now 'til the end of time that will prevent the accumulation of wealth" do you think he would have won?  No.  What did he campaign on?  A bunch of nothing: Hope, change, marvelous speeches, platitudes, words!  If Barack Obama were honest about what he's doing and what he intended to do he wouldn't have gotten 10% of the vote, maybe 20.  There are enough wackos in this country maybe to get him 20% of the vote.

By the same token, if the Democrats on Capitol Hill and Obama were honest about what the real purpose of their health care bill is -- to raise taxes, to totally control every aspect of human life in this country -- they would never, ever have gotten this far with it.  If the global warming people had said, "We are aligned with our liberal socialist brothers all over the world.  We believe in a one-world government, and we believe that the United States has too much of the world's wealth. So we are going to create a crisis that is designed to make Americans think that they are destroying the planet, so that they will then feel guilty and that they will feel guilty over polar bears being killed and so forth. We'll get their kids all in line and then we're going to go for world government and world tax increases to fleece the United States so that we can join our leftist brothers in the United States to control that population and as much of the world as we can."  If they had said that, they would have never convinced one person to sell an SUV.  If they had said that, they would have never convinced one person to buy a Prius.

My point is, they cannot be honest about their intentions; they cannot be honest about their agenda; they cannot be honest about who they are.  Some of them are; some of them let it slip.  Barney Frank, for example, has said that in the midst of all this change the middle class is going to be so distracted they won't have the guts or the energy to fight us.  The middle class is the enemy.  The liberals make the middle class think that they are the chosen ones, that the left cares about "the little guy," the average guy, and are going to soak the rich.  The left goes after everybody.  They hold everyone in equal contempt.  They must.  Their whole reason for living is the desire to amass power, to control everybody's lives.  In doing so they have to assume and tell themselves that you aren't capable of living life on your own without them.  I'm talking primarily about liberal leaders.  The sad thing is that they have convinced so many Americans -- via academia and pop culture, they have convinced so many average Americans -- that we now have an actual Looney Toon bin of 20 to 30% of our population who also believes this stuff that is willing to destroy their own lives for an ideology that they don't even really understand.

So all of liberalism is a lie.  Liberalism must lie if it is to stand a chance.  And the lie has been good, because the lie of liberalism has been rooted in compassion and caring, and fairness and nondiscrimination, equality, saving the planet, cleaner air, clean water -- as though people are opposed to that.  Behind the lie lurks disaster; insidious, hideous, near-criminal disaster.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Years ago, folks -- years ago on this program -- I explained that communists, leftist ideologues flocked to the environmental movement after the end of the Cold War.  Collectivists found cover for their new agenda, and the collectivists attracted leftist pseudoscientists who were milking the scam for grants from corporations, universities and government entities.  There are so many whores in our midst, from members of Congress, members of the US Senate, and members of the scientific community who are whoring themselves out for money, abandoning science, the pursuit of truth, in exchange for advancing a leftist political agenda.  I have known this, and I have warned of this.  I've not been able to prove it, however.  I've simply had to rely on my powers of persuasion, my common sense, and my belief in God to convince people I'm right.  Now we have these e-mails.  It was a lie from the beginning.  I laid out the reasons why it should be scrutinized and nobody listened because the issue was so important, saving the climate, saving the air, saving the water, saving the polar bears.

Little kids were getting scared to death being forced to watch Algore's stupid, lying movie.  Parents were required to come in and watch it with their kids in school under the threat that the kids would get docked grade points if the parents didn't show up to watch it.  Serious thinkers, scientists began to dig into the science of this new theory warning of man-made global warming.  People like Dr. Roy Spencer -- much was written that did not comport with global warming theories but the State-Controlled Media ignored their work and went to work on their reputations.  The media preferred the opinions and declarations of politicians like Algore.  You ought to see the New York Times story on this.  The New York Times story on this is fascinating.  New York Times: "We Won't Publish 'Statements that Were Never Intended for the Public Eye.'"  We're not going to publish these e-mails.  They were never intended for the public eye.  Ever heard of the Pentagon papers?  New York Times published those.  Don't think they were intended for the public eye.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Serious thinkers and scientists began to dig into the theory of man-made global warming and they found things to be suspicious of, they found things unaccounted for, and they found things ignored.  But they did not assume they were being lied to.  They always gave the pro-global warming people the benefit of the doubt.  What was that?  They gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming that they were scientists.  So they examined with great care all of the items produced by the pro-global warming crowd.  The mistake was not understanding that they are liberals.  The mistake was not understanding who and what liberals are.  The mistake was accepting the premise as genuine.  But they're scientists.  I believe in God and I have common sense, and I understand the role of man in the universe is not all that big.  We simply aren't that important.  The earth is older than any of us will ever be, inhabitably so.  There have been nuclear bombs dropped on this planet.  We've done everything in the world that they say will destroy it and it just keeps going.

I'm not a scientist and so what I say would not have scientific credibility.  But common sense is common sense.  Then we had Michael Crichton.  Michael Crichton wrote the book, State of Fear and began to publicly challenge global warming alarmists.  He said global warming is being treated more like a religion than science, a religion for secular humanists.  Another one of my original theories was confirmed as the haze of global warming was just beginning to clear.  Then Algore wins his Nobel Peace Prize for being the Bernie Madoff figurehead of this scam. Algore's movie and slide show began to receive the attention it deserved.  It was picked apart, dissected and exposed.  It was no more credible than your average Michael Moore movie -- and then the weather changed!  It became impossible to ignore science when summers weren't so hot, when winters were way too cold and all the scaremongering about hurricanes just didn't transpire.  And the darn sun, like a leopard, changed its spots!  They went away.  Sunspots went away, and the global warming crowd said, "Well, that's not a factor."  The sun was not a factor in global warming!  People ask me, "Why don't you believe it?  The pro-global warming scientists say the sun is not a factor."  Sorry.  So these e-mails have been published.  The lie is now there for all to see.  The Bernie Madoffs of global warming were caught and hopefully this is the final nail in the coffin for cap and trade.

RUSH: Now, my friends, health care... The entire Obama agenda, stimulus, Porkulus, whatever -- the entire Obama agenda -- the auto bailout, the cash for clunkers, the home tax credit thing, every one of those items is the same kind of fraud as is the manmade global warming hoax.  It is being advanced by the same kind of people for the same kind of reasons, because they are all liberals/socialists/ communists/fascists.  If anyone... Here's the Media Tweak of the Day: If anyone ever hacked into Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi's computer, we would find the same kind of fraud and deceit that we have in the global warming scam.

Now, the media coverage of this is fascinating.  New York Times (paraphrase): "We're not going to publish things never intended for the human eye."  Andrew Revkin: "A thick pile of private e-mails and unpublished documents generated by an array of climate scientists over 13 years was obtained by a hacker from a British university climate research center and has since spread widely across the Internet starting Thursday afternoon. Before they propagated, the purloined documents, nearly 200 megabytes in all, were uploaded surreptitiously on Tuesday to a server supporting the global warming Web site RealClimate.org."

Now, this from the Dot Earth blog at the New York Times,. It was from Friday.  I almost passed on it.  What would you expect from a journalist and from a newspaper whose job depends on promulgating a lie?  Which, by the way, is a situation so many journalists at the Times and elsewhere find themselves in day after day: Promulgating a lie.  Journalists themselves promulgate lies.  Global warming lies, health care lies, you name it. If they're promulgating the liberal agenda, they are promulgating lies.  So what would you expect when confronted with one of their lies has been exposed?

Well, what do you do?  You run a story or two: "Greenhouse Gases at Highest Level Ever!" That's the Associated Press.  "Sea level rise could cost port cities $28 trillion" in 50 years. Or 40. By 2050.  That's from CNN.  "A possible" possible "rise in sea levels by 0.5 meters by 2050 could put at risk more than $28 trillion worth of assets in the world's largest coastal cities, according to a report compiled for the insurance industry."  It's a hoax, and so when the hoax was exposed last week, here come the promulgators of lies, the State-Controlled Media, to double down on these stories that all feature panic.  By the way, that's another thing to learn: Every liberal agenda item is first preceded by a panic that could kill you (or is killing you). Be it the climate change, be it health care, "You're gonna die! Your kids are gonna die!"

Liberalism is a rotting piece of scum, and everything it touches gets destroyed.   One of the things that the Climate Research Unit e-mails show is that the global warming skeptics are not such a small, unimportant fringe -- as Algore and the rest have tried to say.  The pro-global warming scientists obviously are completely obsessed with their critics, and it's clear from the e-mails that the pro-global warming scientists were and are doing everything they can to prevent the other side of the argument from being heard.  This is what our media calls "consensus."

Now, Mr. Snerdley asked me a moment ago, "If these guys didn't figure it out, how come you did?" Well, because I guess I am imbued, again, with a decent education and common sense.  I know that science has nothing to do with consensus.  And so the primary selling point of the global warming crowd has been "a consensus of scientists." Consensus, meaning a majority. But there are some scientists that don't believe it?  Well, wait a minute: That's not science we're talking, then. We're talking politics.  If you're going to put a word like "consensus" and join it with scientific activity, then it's no longer scientific activity.  It is impossible (if words mean anything anymore) for science to be science if all there is to prove a theory is consensus.  So it's not been hard for me to understand who these people are. (interruption)

Well, I... Snerdley is yelling at me again: "You also don't fall prey to this touchy-feely feel-good stuff."  Yes, that is true, 'cause I realize it's phony.  But I'm also an individualist and a self-reliant person, and I realize that feeling good is up to me.  And I want everybody else in the world to feel good! It's up to them to feel good.  Just because I want them to feel good doesn't mean they're going to feel good.  Or: "We're going to do things to make ourselves feel better as a people.  We're going to have health insurance for 20% of the uninsured and we're going to spend $2 trillion to do it, and the bill is over 2,000 pages."  Do you ever ask yourself, "Why does it take 2,000 pages to come up with a plan to insure 30 million people with health insurance?"  What the hell do you need 2,000 pages to do that for?  Is there an insurance policy that is 2,000 pages?  Give a lawyer a month and I'm sure he could write one.  Two thousand pages to insure people?  That's what people say. "Oh, yes, we're good people! We're insuring the uninsured, Mr. Limbaugh, and we're going to lower costs!" Two thousand pages to do this?  Actually, 4,000, 'cause there's a 2,000-page piece of crap over in the House, too.  So 4,000 pages.  Senators whoring themselves out for millions, hundreds of millions to vote for it.

And it's the same wherever you find liberalism.  It's looking more and more like these Climate Research Unit e-mails.  And, by the way, I got a graph here from their website and the Climate Research Unit at the University where all these e-mails came from. Even their own chart here shows that there has been no warming for the last ten years.  Even they weren't able to lie about that.  There has been no warming the last ten years, and their chart even shows it! I have it here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.  It looks like, by the way, more and more that these Climate Research Unit e-mails were released by an insider, a whistleblower.  The file was called FOI 2009 for a reason.  This information had been sought for years through UK Freedom of Information requests, and information was destroyed -- and the e-mails showed that information and scientific data that would disapprove the manmade global warming theory, was tossed out.  But the CRU, the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia and other universities and organizations simply refused to comply with the Freedom of Information requests, even ultimately claiming that all the data had been lost.  Now we know why they fought releasing the information to the public for so long is because it was made up.  So you might say or ask, "How were they allowed to get away with it?"  Good intentions: "Clean water.  Clean air.  No polar bears dying.  Flipper swimming free in the oceans.  No pollution.  No smokestacks.  No filth."  Who's opposed to any of that?  Plus, we "save the planet."  Why, we will not flood our coastal areas if we do this.  The problem is they weren't all on the same page.  They're all a bunch of Froot Loop nutcakes combined with seriously sick liberal agenda people, and the fruitcakes will go out and say some of the most ridiculous claims in the midst of the purported science.

That's another thing, Snerdley.  They come out and say, "That's already passed the point of no return. I mean, if we do everything we can't fix it."  Wait a minute!  Then my common sense says, "Wait a minute: If we can't fix it, how the hell did we cause it?"  I think that may be my problem with liberals: I just have too much common sense.  Common sense, belief in God, belief in right and wrong, I'm a threat.  Ditto Sarah Palin. (interruption) Who's no help?  Oh! No, logic is not much help, especially if logic threatens the safety of the false, phony, lying, sick cocoon liberals live in.

Oh, oh!   I forgot to mention one thing.  Do you remember there was an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati, the old TV show, where they drop live turkeys from a helicopter as a publicity stunt?  There is... I need to get this website.  It's a YouTube site.  I'm going to link to it at RushLimbaugh.com.  Dean, go ahead and put it up there. That's Koko Jr., because Koko is out on vacation.  It is a video. You don't even need to hear it.  It is a video of polar bears falling out of the sky, dying, crashing on top of cars in deserted cities. They're crashing into the side of buildings.

It's a UK spot and it's all to illustrate that every person who flies on a commercial jet is responsible for the same amount of carbon dioxide emissions as the weight of one polar bear.  So to illustrate that they have polar bears dying, they're falling out of the sky. I'm sorry, folks, but that kind of stuff does not persuade me.  That kind of stuff tells me these people are nuts.   Plus, I had a very fortunate thing happen to me: I was born a Limbaugh.  And I learned starting at nine what liberals are, who Democrats are.  I had a continuing education in it, and it never stops to this day.  So it's Thanksgiving week.  One of the greatest things I'm thankful for was being born a Limbaugh.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: If you missed the first hour of this program, let me sum up for you: Liberalism is a lie.  All of liberalism is a lie.  The media are liberals and they promulgate lies.  We know that the manmade global warming hoax is now...a hoax.  E-mails from members of the Climate Research Unit responsible for the UN's climate panel prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that data was rigged, made up and ignored all to advance a political agenda.  Liberalism is a lie and people who are liberals have to lie about what liberalism is in order for it to have any chance at all at the ballot box or in any other democratic situation.  I now have for you two illustrative sound bites that are purely disgusting.  They both come from our president this morning in Washington.  He launched the Educate to Innovative campaign, a nationwide effort that will motivate and inspire young people across the country to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  Here's a portion of his remarks.

OBAMA:  [A]nd we live in a world of unprecedented perils, but also unparalleled potential.  Our medical system holds the promise of unlocking new cures, but it's attached to a health care system that's bankrupting families and businesses and our government.  The sources of energy that power our economy are also endangering our planet.  We confront threats to our security that seek to exploit the very openness that is, uh, is essential to our prosperity.  And we face challenges in a global marketplace that link the trader to Wall Street to the homeowner on Main Street, to the office worker in America to the factory worker in China, an economy in which we all share an opportunity but we also share, unfortunately, in crisis.

RUSH:  The vast majority of that is just pure bilk.  The vast majority of that is just drivel.  We do "live in a world of unprecedented perils," and now they include internal perils, and he is one of them.  "Our medical system holds the promise of unlocking new cures," but it won't if his health care is passed.  Our health care system is not "bankrupting families and business and our government," he is!  President Obama is bankrupting families, businesses, and government.  The sources of energy that power our economy are not endangering our planet.  He may not have heard that anthropological global warming, manmade global warming is a hoax yet. He may not have heard that.  I doubt that he hasn't heard it.  He has heard it.  He knows it's a hoax.  Gore knows it's a hoax.  They all have known it's a hoax.  It's just the latest diving board that they have used to jump into the pool with the next liberal policy.  "We confront threats to our security that seek to exploit the very openness that's essential to our prosperity," like bringing terrorists to New York City for a criminal trial that the president is doing. That's certainly exposing us to threats.  "We face challenges in a global marketplace," and we do, because President Obama is bankrupting the country and running up trade deficits, balance of trade deficits.  It's a disaster in the making -- all by design.  But in the next bite you will hear our president say all these problems can be solved.

OBAMA:  The key to meeting these challenges, to improving our health and well-being, to harnessing clean energy, to protecting our security and succeeding in the global economy will be reaffirming and strengthening America's role as the world's engine of scientific discovery and technological innovation -- and that leadership tomorrow depends on how we educate our students today, especially in those fields that hold the promise of producing future innovations and innovators.  That's why education in math and science is so important.

RUSH:  He is right, except science has been politicized.  The science curriculum at every level has been politicized and is now just one of the many weapons the left uses to advance its agenda via lie after lie after lie.  "The key to meeting these challenges, to improving our health and well-being, to harnessing clean energy, protecting our security, succeeding in the global economy, will be reaffirming and strengthening America's role as the world engine," which is being destroyed.  The world engine is one of the things Barack Obama does not like about this country.  America being the world's engine is something he's out to change.  Jeremiah Wright doesn't like it.  Bill Ayers doesn't like it.  Frank Marshall Davis, who raised Obama, doesn't like it.  Obama's father did not like the United States being the engine of the world.  Calypso Louie Farrakhan does not like the United States of America being the engine of the world.  These are all friends and associates of President Barack Obama.  He doesn't like America being the engine of the world, either.

"How can you say that, Rush?"

It took 15 years for people to trust me and believe me on global warming.  I was out there all alone for all those years with the first environmentalist wacko updates, trying to warn people about Earth First trying to destroy the timber industry. That's what they were really all about.  Because I was not a scientist people initially rejected me.  After a while the kooks got kooky enough and the weather didn't cooperate with these people and so forth, and the truth eventually won out.  But, by the way, I don't think that's over.  I don't think they're just going to give up the cause.  Don't for a moment think that.  The New York Times, the Washington Post, say those e-mails are taken out of context. They don't give us the context of the e-mails in their reporting, they just say the e-mails are out of context.  So when I tell you that Barack Obama does not like the United States being the engine of the world, and you say, "How can you say it?"  Common sense, again, folks.  I know who he is.  I know who educated him; I know who raised him; I know who his mentors were; I know who his friends are.  And I only had to listen to him apologize for his own country once to have all of those associations confirmed and their importance.

I only had to read about a brother of his that lives in a six-by-nine-foot hut in Kenya that Obama will not help.  He's asked his family that lives there to apply for government grants somewhere in that village in Kenya.  He won't help 'em personally, but somehow he's the nicest, most compassionate, smartest, most elegant president we've ever had.  I'm sorry, I know liberals, folks.  I know liberals. I know the premise of liberalism. It's a tough thing to accept it, but once you do, everything after that is easy.  Liberalism is a lie.  I know many of you know liberals and you think they're nice people, maybe just wrong.  You don't want to think of them as liars.  You prefer to think of them as just "misguided" or "wrong."

They're liars! Many of the rank-and-file liberals are dupes. They're well-intentioned and have no idea what they're actually supporting.  They fall into this, "I feel good about myself. I see a homeless person and I say, 'Oh, why don't we do something?'  I'm a good person."  You haven't done anything! You just thought something and made you feel like you're a good person.  Conservatism solves problems.  Liberalism blows 'em up and amplifies 'em in the name of fixing them.  So once you accept that every liberal politician in Washington or your state capital or on your city town council is a liberal and therefore is a liar, then the rest is easy.  You simply don't believe anything they say and you will be right.  "But, Rush, I don't want to go through life that way."

Well, okay. If you don't want to, I'll handle it for you.

RUSH: We go to Brandon, Mississippi.  This is Scott.  Hello, sir.

CALLER:  Hey, Rush. Thank you so much for being America's go-to guy.  Let me go straight to my point.  These Climate Research Unit e-mails, I guess they concern me.  There's a growing discussion that some level of civil unrest is going to be required to get this government to pay any attention to the will of the people.  And it's obvious these e-mails were released in some fashion -- whether it's a whistleblower or a hacker, in some way they were obtained -- illegally and disseminated without the consent or permission of the parties involved in the e-mails.  While I do believe a greater good definitely was served by the release of this information, I guess I need you to tell me how I'm supposed to feel about it in light of how it was obtained and the manner in which we've learned this information.

RUSH:  Let's see.  Did you read the New York Times today?

CALLER:  Sir, I don't read the New York Times any day.

RUSH:  Okay, good, because the New York Times says they're not going to publish e-mails that were not intended for the public eye, even after they published the Pentagon Papers and war plans in Iraq and other damaging items to the Bush administration.  At this point I'm not concerned.  I mean, we have whistleblowers.  We don't know that it was this was a hack.  We have whistleblowers -- and all I know is that liberal Democrats reward "whistleblowers" who blow the whistle on Republicans and conservatives.  We are in a war.  We are in a war to save the United States of America from being remade into something that you and I would not recognize, and people are very much alarmed about this.

I am for anything that exposes truth.  Truth has become too big a casualty in our culture, in our society, in our media, and in our politics.  Everything, it seems, is a lie to one degree or another -- and the people who do not go along with the lie, who do not believe the lie, are called extremists.  Somebody in this organization, if it's a whistleblower, did one of two things. Either somebody's got their nose out of joint over the way they're being treated by somebody in that organization or they have a guilty conscious and they can no longer sit by and be part of this while they watch an absolute fraud and hoax take place.  So I myself am never alarmed when the truth happens, when the truth is made, when the truth is revealed. I am not bothered.  Thanks, Scott, very much.

RUSH: Here is Judy in Payson, Arizona.  Great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  Thanks for what you do, and God bless you.

RUSH:  Thank you.  Same to you.

CALLER:  Thank you.  I was just calling because I saw an article in the Wall Street Journal from a few weeks ago about the island of Vanuatu. Their president -- or I can't remember if it was this prime minister whatever -- said that with global warming they were going to be enveloped in water and overcome with the rising oceans.  And the reporter said that in that country, the people are dying of malaria. They don't have electricity. They have to go for three hours to find a doctor. And this guy's worried about that?  It's incredible because he was trying to fleece the West, of course. Everything was our fault and the dollars would just flow into his country.  But I was just astounded by what was really going on there because I really never knew.

RUSH:  They're suffering from malaria in a lot of parts of the world because we got scammed by a woman named Rachel Carson who led to the banning of DDT.  If we just put DDT back in we'd cut malaria dramatically.  As to the rest, this guy is a liberal.  Liberals lie and he's got a liberal or socialist-type culture, and that's why these people are impoverished, and that's why he wants everybody to believe in global warming, because he's joining the crowd that wants to fleece the United States.

CALLER:  Right.  Right.  It's unbelievable, Rush.  I remember years ago when you first announced that when Mikhail Gorbachev wandered over to California, he went into the Green Party; and I've never, ever forgotten that.  I thought, "Wow!" You know, "Where can you go to destroy business?" and he wandered right into that.

RUSH:  Right into the Green Party.

CALLER:  Yes, sir.

RUSH:  They even gave it an office in the Presidio somewhere.

CALLER:  I remember that.  I remember the day you announced it.

RUSH:  Yeah.

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  Well, your illustration of this guy in this little failing island country is an excellent accompaniment to -- if I have a theme today, to -- the theme.  Here you've got a guy whose population is literally impoverished and dying, and what's he talking about?  Sea levels rising when they aren't.  He's part of cabal. He's joined the chorus, the fearmongering crowd, and they don't care about people.  You know, "putting people first," they always say. That's Clintons' slogan. They don't care about people, and your guy that you talked about seeing last night on TV, whenever you saw it, is proof of it.  Obama doesn't care about people.  If he did, he would at least show some emotional connection when talking about the unemployment rate, which is really 17.5%.  One in five Americans is either unemployed or underemployed right now.  He's not "cool and calm."  The guy is COLD.  But there are so many notions that we just have to sweep away, that liberals care about the little guy, that liberals care about people. They care about themselves and government, pure and simple.

RUSH: Der Spiegel.  I never get that first word pronounced right.  Every time I think I say it right, I get e-mails: "No, Rush, it's 'durr'."  Then I say "durr.  "No, Rush it's 'derr.'"  Then I say "derr."  "It's Der Spiegel!"  Okay.  Der Spiegel:  "Obama's Nice Guy Act Gets Him Nowhere on the World Stage -- When he entered office, US President Barack Obama promised to inject US foreign policy with a new tone of respect and diplomacy. His recent trip to Asia, however, showed that it's not working. A shift to Bush-style bluntness may be coming.  There were only a few hours left before Air Force One was scheduled to depart for the flight home. US President Barack Obama trip through Asia had already seen him travel 24,000 kilometers, sit through a dozen state banquets, climb the Great Wall of China and shake hands with Korean children. It was high time to take stock of the trip.  Barack Obama looked tired on Thursday, as he stood in the Blue House in Seoul, the official residence of the South Korean president. He also seemed irritable and even slightly forlorn. ... The mood in Obama's foreign policy team is tense following an extended Asia trip that produced no palpable results. The 'first Pacific president,' as Obama called himself, came as a friend and returned as a stranger. The Asians smiled but made no concessions."

Obama's new foreign policy has also been relatively unsuccessful elsewhere.  They cite Israel and a number of other places, and then they say he's a lot like Jimmy Carter, Der Spiegel.  "There are many indications that the man in charge at the White House will take a tougher stance in the future. Obama's advisors fear a comparison with former Democratic President Jimmy Carter, even more than with Bush. Prominent Republicans have already tried to liken Obama to the humanitarian from Georgia, who lost in his bid to win a second term, because voters felt that he was too soft. 'Carter tried weakness and the world got tougher and tougher because the predators, the aggressors, the anti-Americans, the dictators, when they sense weakness, they all start pushing ahead.'"

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

Leslie Gelb, the president emeritus of the Council of Foreign Relations -- the CFR (wink, wink) -- says Obama's China trip was "amateur hour." Chris Matthews takes a cue from Dick Cheney and said, "Obama is dithering over Afghanistan." Yep. Yep. He also said some other things about Obama. I think he caught onto this Jimmy Carter routine. He's starting to look like Jimmy Carter. Even the New York Times is getting a tad troubled by Obama's trillions upon trillions of spending. I have to ask: Are these people nuts? They don't get it? Don't they know why Obama he was elected? Obama was elected to smile and to act cool, which he still does. He still smiles, still acts cool. He can deliver a well-phrased speech on any subject. That's what the media wanted. They wanted somebody "smart," they wanted somebody elegant, they wanted somebody like them -- and that's what they got: A basic empty suit. Well, not quite empty suit.

So what's the fuss? See, those of us who are honest are not surprised by anything that has happened here. We said he was going to be a repeat of Carter only worse, because Carter wasn't trying to do this. He was just inept. Obama is trying to do this. It's his objective. We knew he was going to sell the country out on foreign policy. We knew it. What did these guys think? Did they really buy that drivel that the world hated us because of Bush and was going to love us because of Obama? If they really bought that, then they're dumber than even I consider them to be. Dumb has nothing to do with IQ. Some of the smartest, highest-IQ people around us are the most idiotic, stupid, uninformed people you could ever run into because their arrogance and conceit tells them that they don't need to learn anything. They already know it.

Democrat Health Care Bites:  Listen to Your Doctors, Not Rush
The lives of women have been saved listening to Rush.
November 23, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A couple of health care audio sound bites.  Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown was on State of the Union on CNN Sunday. John King says, "If in the end you can't get Lieberman, Lincoln, Landrieu, and you can't pass a bill without at least going to a trigger, would you make that compromise?"

BROWN:  In the end, I don't want four Democratic Senators dictating to the other 56 of us and to the country -- when the public option has this much support -- that it's not going to be in it.  People want every option.  If we're telling people you have to buy insurance, we shouldn't tell them they've gotta buy insurance from a private insurance company.  But in the end I think that all four of our colleagues survey the -- this -- look at this bill in the end and say... I don't think they want to be on the wrong side of history.

RUSH:  Oh, "the wrong side of history" is where you're going to be, Senator Brown.  There is no majority for the public option in an honest poll.  "I'm not going to let four senators dictate to the rest of us..." Well, it's going to be a lot more than four because a lot more than four are going to hold out for something like what Landrieu got: $300 million. Here's Mark Udall on the Senate floor. He's a Democrat from Utah.  Here's a portion of what he said.

UDALL:  My advice to women in listening to this debate is that they should be consulting their doctors when it comes to things like this. They should be listening to their doctors.  Their doctors are up on the best research; they're up on the best science; they're up on the best medicine and get on top of it.  And so I would just say to the women of America, "Listen to your doctors, not to Rush Limbaugh."

RUSH:  He's on the floor of the US Senate and I do not know what he was talking about.  Maybe it was the mammogram thing.  I have no clue what he was talking about.  All I know is that I could probably put my finger on a number of women's lives who have been saved as a result of listening to this show.  Okay, to the phones.  We continue now with Kathy in Santa Barbara, California, where Oprah is going to end up after she leaves Chicago.  Nice to have you.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  Thank you so much for your time.

RUSH:  You bet.

CALLER:  I just think it's interesting that the Senator just said "listen to your doctors" but we won't be able to do that if their plan goes through, will we?

RUSH:  No. The doctor will have to listen to some bureaucrat.

CALLER:  Interesting.  Hey, I'm a nurse here in Santa Barbara, and I see the results of what happens to people when they don't take care of themselves and their health.  I do know that there are people that take care of themselves that still get sick and still come down with cancer, and I actually don't mind some of my taxes going to support some of that. But what does frost me is the fact that there are people that just don't care and they don't take care of themselves, and it angers me to think that my taxes are going to go for their health care.

RUSH:  Well, they already do. Your taxes go to their health care.  They're going to be required to buy it or they go to jail under this bill.

CALLER:  Right.  But my taxes are going to have to go for health care to support people that don't take care of themselves, that get diabetes and heart disease and all that.

RUSH:  Well, well, the people that don't take care of themselves are "among the least fortunate in our society." They don't take care of themselves because they're so depressed that Bush was in the White House for eight years, and they're depressed over a lot of things -- and it's America's fault.  We owe it to them.

CALLER:  Oh.

RUSH:  Yeah.

CALLER:  It sort of reminds me of having to pay car insurance for somebody that doesn't drive well or has a number of DUIs or something. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

RUSH:  Well, you don't have to do that yet.

CALLER:  Well, not yet, but you see what I'm saying.  If I'm a good driver. I don't have to pay as much money on car insurance.  But the day that I have to pay more money because somebody else has to have car insurance and they're not a good driver? Why do I have to pay for that?

RUSH:  Well, actually you're not.  With auto insurance you're actually insuring yourself against something that you might do to something else.

CALLER:  I'm just saying that thinking of health care reminds me of that. I'm just using that as an example.

RUSH:  Ah.  The old analogy trick.

CALLER:  Right.  Somebody else isn't responsible and I have to pay for it.

RUSH:  Well, look, I totally agree with you, but that's been the rules of the game here in the basic welfare state for I don't know how long.  Obama's entire agenda is based on everybody doing just that.  Five percent pull the cart and the wagon, and 95% percent are in it.  Sometimes you do have to pay for uninsured motorist coverage. You do have to pay for that.  But, at any rate, if you're opposed to paying things for other people, you've been doing it a long time before health care.  I mean, you're paying for other people to eat through food stamps.  Who knows what else you're paying for?

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ron in Dallas, I'm glad you called, sir. You're next on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Happy Thanksgiving holiday dittos from --

RUSH:  Thank you, sir.

CALLER:  -- where we dominated the Redskins yesterday in a most ripping 7-6 victory.

RUSH:  (laughing)  You call that dominating?

CALLER:  (laughing) RUSH:  Well, we waited until the last few minutes. It made it fun.

RUSH:  Hey, you guys are 7-3.

CALLER:  Yeah, whatever.

RUSH:  You lead the division.

CALLER:  And what did the Steelers do yesterday?  That was a struggle.  That was disappointing.

RUSH:  That's two weeks in a row the Steelers had a bad-karma game.  Yesterday was a trap game.  In my office pool I predicted the Bengals to lose.  I thought the Bengals would lose to Oakland in a trap game.  You look past them.  The Chiefs, they're a doormat.  You look past them.  They got Baltimore next week, the Steelers do, and it's a trap game. You look past them.  They shouldn't have because they lost to Cincinnati the previous week, but it just --

CALLER:  I lost a box of Allen Brothers steaks when the Steelers lost yesterday.

RUSH:  Yeah? Did you bet the points?

CALLER:  No.  No, no, no.  Rush, I think you're one of the smartest people in the country -- and I know you think so, too -- but I'll bet you and 99% of your audience has never heard of the most aggressive form of breast cancer there is.  And this debate in Congress has really got me to think about this and got me to call in, and that type of breast cancer is called "inflammatory breast cancer."  Have you ever heard of that before?

RUSH:  I have not.

CALLER:  So I imagine most of your audience have not either, and so let me quickly tell you what this is.

RUSH:  Wait a minute.  Do you think most women have not heard of it?

CALLER:  Yes, sir, 'cause most doctors haven't heard of it, or haven't seen it and they misdiagnose it.

RUSH:  Well, Dawn here says she's heard of it.

CALLER: Okay, one out of two. But you, the smartest man in the country, has not heard of it.

RUSH:  One out of four because the other two have no clue either.

CALLER:  Okay, so the reason I called is these people -- if we had a rationed health care system, this type of breast cancer -- will not have any chance of survival because it's all about speed of starting the treatment for any chance of beating it. And if the government were in charge, these people, none of them would be around because it's too aggressive. You can't wait months to be seen. It's too expensive, and one of the shots costs a lot. My wife, she had to have it four times and it was over $7,000 a shot, and it's a very low mortality rate.  It's the most rare form of breast cancer, but it's the most aggressive and it presents over 25% of breast cancer deaths.  And the scary thing is, mammograms don't pick it up typically and it doesn't presents as a lump and it also hits younger women.  And so, you know, it's misdiagnosed. It's stage three automatically, but most are stage four, and it's very expensive to treat. So doctors think it's an infection, and so most people don't know what this is, and unfortunately if we had a government health care system in place... And my wife, who does not follow politics as much as I do, really knew what was going on about this and said, "You know, if we had that health care system in place I wouldn't be here."

RUSH:  Seven thousand dollars a shot?

CALLER:  That was just the shot to get her white blood cells up the morning after chemo, and I can guarantee that wouldn't be allowed. She had to do that four times, and if you saw the 60 Minutes deal last night they were talking about a drug called Avastin.  And if I can recall, they were talking about the fact that in aggressive late-stage breast cancers where Avastin is used, that's upwards of $40,000 for those shots and there's no way that they would allow something like this, and it's a very scary disease that most people haven't heard of.

RUSH:  How is it diagnosed if a mammogram doesn't pick it up and if it doesn't lump?

CALLER:  Great question.  The way my wife was diagnosed was they had to go in and do a core biopsy, not a needle biopsy. She did that, too, but it didn't pick it up. They did a a core biopsy, and the only way she --

RUSH:  Wait.  You're ahead of us.  What's the symptom that caused her to go get that?

CALLER:  Well, late October last year she thought something was wrong.  She felt she had a bug bite underneath her right breast.  It looked like and felt like a bug bite and she didn't do anything.  She went into the doctor and they had her go do a mammogram. She was 34 at the time.  She went and did a mammogram. The mammogram came back clean and they said, "Come back and see us when you're 40."  So she was on a trip to Toronto for business, and her mother is a teacher. One of her teacher friends sent her mom a video on the internet and said, "Hey, you might want Stacy to see this."  Mom sends it to Stacy in Toronto and three minutes into it she said, "I think that's what I've got," and it's a video that's been out since 1994 on KOMO Seattle.  If you Google it and do "KOMO IBC" you can see what it is.  She came home early and within the week she was in chemo, and we went to the right doctors after the first one kind of screwed things up, and we went to one that had seen this.  Most doctors haven't seen this, and this guy in Baylor, Dallas, gets 25 cases a year and he said, "This is what you got." All of a sudden she was in high-dose chemo within the week and she was stage three.  Most people don't get diagnosed in time and it becomes stage four and it's all over their body.  So if you have the health care system in place that Obama is talking about, these people simply wouldn't get the treatment in time, and that's exactly what would happen.

RUSH:  Well, they might not pay for a $7,000 shot.

CALLER:  Well, there you go. But then the white blood cell count is too low and you're not going to be able to stand the chemo.  It's very scary, and most people have not heard of it.  My mom's a nurse.  She hadn't heard of it. For 25 years she was in oncology and she had never heard of it.  The first doctor we went to only saw three cases in her life and she didn't know what it was or she couldn't figure it out.

RUSH:  See, stories like this -- and I'm sure that there are other procedures and diseases that have rare procedures that are expensive and so forth -- illustrate for me, again just using common sense, that this health care legislation is not about health care at all.  If it were about health care, it would be focusing on the actual health care system not providing insurance to people, and it wouldn't be talking about "cost control" and doing this and all of that as though it's a burden of the government, the health care system is.  It's a rigged system to raise taxes, to redistribute wealth, to empower Democrats, to grow government -- all under the guise of be compassionately oriented towards providing insurance to people.

Whores Sell Votes on Health Bill
If we hacked Reid or Pelosi's e-mail, we'd find the same.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  That may be, folks, the most expensive prostitute in the history of prostitution, and she's bragging about it.  Mary Landrieu bragging about a $300 million payoff from Dingy Harry to get her vote on this health care scam on Saturday night.  Greetings. It's great to have you with us.  It's Thanksgiving week and the first wave of the Limbaugh clan begin arriving this afternoon.  I always look forward to this week. I look forward to this time of year, every year. It's one of my favorite times of year.  Hello, folks.  800-282-2882 if you want to be on the program.  The e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com

Let me ask you a question.  How many votes did Roland Burris get for his Senate seat?  How many votes did the Democrat Senator from Colorado get for his seat?  Zero.  They were both appointed.  The Senator from Colorado, Michael Bennet, said over the weekend he would gladly lose his seat to pass health care.  I told you people this. I told you the Democrats are going to thin the herd. They are gladly willing to lose members.  Everybody's talking about this, "Oh, no it's a horrible thing that happened on Saturday."  Folks, it was a fait accompli.  Nobody was going to vote to not do a debate.  I mean, even Lieberman voted for this, and he's not going to vote for the final bill.  Now, when you hear a Democrat go on television and solemnly pronounce, as Senator Ben Nelson did: "No health care if no change in public option and abortion funding," or Mary Landrieu, "I will not vote for this as it is written," they are not espousing core beliefs.  They are simply opening bids.

They are simply making opening bids to Harry Reid.  Mary Landrieu has now shown that she can get paid off; other people are going to have their price.  So when they come along and say, "I'm not going to sign this thing as it's written. Why, I'm not going to put my signature on this! I won't vote for it if there's a public option in there. I'm not going to vote for this if there's abortion funding," that's just BS.  That's a signal to Harry Reid. That's just their opening bid: "What will you give me to vote for this thing?  How much will you give me to chain my mind?" Who will write the escape statement: "I voted against it before I voted for it."  This is classic what's going on here, and it's right out in the open for everybody to see.  Let's see, who voted for this?  Robert Byrd from a stretcher practically; Tim Johnson, who we're never even allowed to hear talk because he hasn't recovered from his stroke; that stooge Senator who replaced Ted Kennedy. How many votes did he get?  Zero.  The Senator who replaced Ted Stevens, Al Franken; and that moral paragon, of course, Roland W. Burris; and Michael Bennet from Colorado. That's the Democrat who was appointed to replace Ken Salazar.  A lot of no-votes guys and here they are voting on something like this and here they're going to be voting on it again when and if that vote ever takes place.

Support for health care has now fallen to a new low in the Rasmussen Reports survey.  Thirty-eight percent of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by Obama and congressional Democrats.  That's the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.  It doesn't matter because the people in Washington are oblivious.  The Democrats could not care less what you or anybody else thinks about any agenda item they have.  They have been dreaming of this their whole lives.  They are on the verge, in their minds, of their own personal utopia -- and that is the destruction of capitalism and the United States as we have known it.  The cap-and-trade bill is just another example of that as are all the agenda items.

RUSH: I got an e-mail over the weekend in my subscriber e-mail account and I have it printed out.  I printed out my response, too.  A woman was having dinner. She is middle-aged and she and her husband are having dinner with a 24-year-old soldier.  They were talking about health care.  The 24-year-old soldier said, "Look, if the government's going to require auto insurance, why can't the government require everybody to have health insurance?"  She wanted to know what I would say.  I wrote a page back.  During the course of the program I'll share with you what I said to this woman.  And she wrote me back.  She's going to go out and buy Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny and give it to the soldier along with my reply and hopefully save one American from the abyss of big government liberalism: A soldier.

RUSH: Tina in Long Valley, New Jersey, great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.

RUSH:  Hi.

CALLER:  It's an honor. I can't believe I'm talking to you.  I'm talking to you because I am so angry. I feel like this vote on Saturday was a trick.  I feel like they are sneaking this past us because they know that it's the weekend and it's before Thanksgiving and the holidays.  We're busy with our family, with our kids.  We don't have time to pay attention.  And like you said: This bill is 2,000 pages and the other bill is 2,000 pages, and like many others, I'm trying to do what you said. I'm trying to be the go-to guy.  But it's overwhelming.  I mean, I'm going to see my family this weekend and I want to be informed.  But, Rush, I have four kids.  I'm busy.  I'm so angry. I feel like this is a part-time job that I have trying to keep up with this.

RUSH:  Let me comfort you just a little.  There's nothing anybody coulda done about this vote whether it took place Saturday or Friday or today.  It was always going to get 60 votes to start debate.  It's a procedural vote, and that was always going to happen.  Lieberman voted for it, and he's not going to vote for anything like this.  He's going to join the filibuster.

CALLER:  Well, that's what they say.

RUSH:  I know.

CALLER:  But, you know, I don't know who to believe anymore.

RUSH:  Well, that's true, too.  I have to give you that.

CALLER:  You mentioned last week being the person to be informed.

RUSH:  Yeah?

CALLER:  And that led me to read that article that you referred in the American Thinker. I read that, and that led me to read -- I'm reading right now -- The Road to Serfdom, and I am in shock and disbelief at how this is all happening again and these people are using the same words.

RUSH:  They lie.  They lie in the name of good intentions, compassion, and fairness.  They have created political correctness to censor any opposing speech.

CALLER:  You know, I'm reading this book and I'm so angry again because all this information in this book is available to all these people who call themselves our leaders.  They know all this! They know a little bit of socialism leads to more socialism which leads to totalitarianism.

RUSH:  Wait.  When you say "our leaders," do you mean Democrats and Republicans or just Democrats?

CALLER:  Well, I guess I mean mainly the Democrats, but then I see Chuck Schumer on some morning show and I see him say the Republicans have no bill.  And I don't know if that's true or not, but I betcha people watching think that it's true.

RUSH:  See, that's just diversionary.  The Republicans have ideas but that's not the plan here.  The plan is to stop this.  This has to be stopped.  You ask, "Don't the Democrats know where they're taking us?"  This is another hard one for people to believe.  They know exactly where they're taking us.

CALLER:  Oh, I believe it.  I'm in.  I believe it.

RUSH:  Some people think the Democrats are delusional, that they're not going to lose seats.  They're not delusional.  They know exactly what they're doing.

CALLER:  That's why it makes me so angry.

RUSH:  They are willing to lose seats to get this passed.

CALLER:  Because, you know, like you said: In the past when there have been troubled times with my husband and I with finances or whatever, I've always felt like it's going to be okay; and now I realize that I felt that way because the rest of that sentence was, "It's going to be okay because we live in America where there are second and third and fourth chances," and I hate to say this but I don't feel like that anymore.  I don't feel it.  I feel uneasy for my kids and for myself.

RUSH:  Well, we're not quite to that point.  We've got to stop health care.  We do have a bunch of indebtedness.  You're very right to be concerned about your kids and grandkids.  This health care bill is largely a massive, massive tax increase -- which is what cap and trade would essentially be: A massive tax increase.  This is still America and that means it's still worth fighting for, for you and your kids.  It still is.  It's why I'm here and not in New Zealand.  It still is.  You're doing the right thing by reading Hayek.  That's a great book.

RUSH: Here is Karen in Fishers, Indiana.  Great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Rush, major mega Hoosier dittos. I'm a 17-year-listener.  Thank you so much for all you're doing.

RUSH:  Thank you.

CALLER:  You're welcome.  I just wanted to call and tell you that basically I am very, very frustrated today when I'm calling Washington and I can't get an answer from anyone.  I tried calling one of my senators, Evan Bayh. I live in Indiana. He's been a Senator for 11 years we have a 2,000 page health care bill floating out there, and I was told that he is "reserving judgment on it," hasn't made up his mind yet.

RUSH:  Probably.  May be true.  This vote Saturday night was simply a formality. There wasn't going to be a Democrat that was going to vote "no" to start debate on this.  I think people had unreasonable expectations about this vote on Saturday.  It was always going to happen; it was a fait accompli.  But they have shut the phones off.  You can't get through to them.  People were calling all day Friday and all day Thursday getting busy signals. The switchboard was practically shut down or overloaded.  They're not talking to you.  If you do get through you're going to get an ambivalent answer.  "Well, he hasn't made up his mind yet. I'll get back to you," and so forth.  They don't want to hear from you. They know what you think already.  They know what you think, Karen.  They know what 70% of the country thinks.  They don't care! They're willing to lose seats to get this passed because they'll get their seats back in a couple years, they think, if they lose them in the first place.

The False Analogy:  Car vs. Health
A false premise exposed by Limbaugh objective thinking.
November 23, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Ten days ago on a spectacular edition of Open Line Friday, I said to each of you -- in response to a question I got and continue to get from many people, "What can we do, Rush? What can we do?" -- be the one in your family who is the go-to person when somebody needs a political answer.  If somebody needs a political answer, you be the go-to guy -- and let me tell you how you become the go-to guy: The Heritage Foundation, me, and Mark Levin's books.  Television is not going to help you be a go-to guy.  It's too sound bite-oriented. It's too brief. It's not nuanced and detailed enough.  I got an e-mail, as I mentioned to you, over the weekend.

"Good morning, sir.  We were having a discussion last night about Obamacare with a few dinner guests.  We are your age.  One of our guests, who is 24, insisted that since the government requires citizens to have car insurance before allowing them to register a car, then we should have no problem with the government requiring citizens to have health insurance.  What would be your reply?" I wrote her back:  "It is state governments which require everyone with a driver's license to have auto insurance.  If you own a car but do not drive -- in other words, you have a driver -- you must be insured.  If you don't own a car and you don't have a driver's license, you do not have to have auto insurance.

"And even if you break auto insurance laws, you do not go to jail for it.  But in both the House and Senate bills, if you do not buy health insurance, you can be imprisoned for five years.  Automobile insurance is purchased not to protect you, the buyer.  Auto insurance is to provide for your victim should you ever cause an accident.  Health insurance is the opposite.  It is to protect the buyer from catastrophic loss brought on by illness or accident.  Health insurance is, thus, in no way analogous to auto insurance because health insurance is purchased to insure the buyer against his own catastrophic loss brought on by major illness or accident.  You do not buy health insurance to provide for others.  You buy it for yourself.

"Can you actually insure your health?  Does health insurance insure your health?  It cannot possibly do so.  Health insurance cannot possibly insure your health.  In fact, health care insurance (formerly called" medical insurance") is merely an instrument of neutralizing risk.  Financial risk, that is; not health risks.  You cannot insure your health.  It was brought about by a need to insure a family's assets against a dread disease requiring care so expensive it could wipe that family out financially.  As a strictly financial planning endeavor the issue never seemed to be discussed in terms of being a right or in terms of compassion, but medical insurance, as a component of financial planning, has morphed into health care as a right for everyone in the new political parlance.  But it's not about health.  Health insurance is not about health.  You can't insure your health.

"Most important of all," I wrote back, "it's unconstitutional for the federal government to mandate that a citizen buy anything, much less put them in jail for failing to do so.  What the hell is your 24-year-old guest thinking?  Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government permitted to mandate that citizens buy X.  The Constitution limits government!  Its whole purpose is to define what government cannot do to citizens.  Read the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments: The Constitution specifically limits government power and always sides with the freedom and liberty of the people.  Your 24-year-old guest has been ill educated, defrauded by his schools, otherwise he wouldn't hold the view that government has the power to require all of this.

"Had he been properly educated he would understand the concepts of federalism and states' rights and thus would never take the position that he took at your dinner party.  He would be robustly and adamantly opposed to all of this. The Founders feared just this type of power being amassed in Washington, and wrote the Constitution to prevent it and to protect us from fellow idiot citizens electing morons like Barack Obama.  When the Constitution is violated (as it is with federal mandates on health care), someone must challenge it in court, eventually getting the case to the Supreme Court.  If this does not happen, or if the people do not openly revolt over this, then the Constitution is weakened, its original purpose diluted and destroyed. Individual freedom and liberty is lost.

"Other than that, everything's hunky-dory."

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Let me ask you a question: "Why don't we have the government make everybody buy life insurance, folks?"  That way nobody would die, at least by the other side's reasoning -- and isn't life more important than health?  You can't get health without life, right?  So why don't they require everybody to buy life insurance?  Doesn't dying without life insurance cause more hardship than getting sick and running up a large bill?  And why would it take 2,000 pages to make us buy life insurance? (interruption) I'm not giving them any ideas, Snerdley.  They could think of more disastrous stuff than I could in a day.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to Plead Not Guilty, Attack US Foreign Policy
Obama, Holder and KSM seek to try the Bush team.
November 23, 2009

Terrorist Parody:  New York, New York!

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  By the way, ladies and gentlemen, have you heard the news?  Have you heard the news, ladies and gentlemen?  A lawyer for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has announced that he will plead not guilty.  "The five men facing trial in the 9/11 attacks will plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of US foreign policy," the lawyer for one of the defendants said yesterday.  "Scott Fenstermaker..." That's a great name for a guy taking on these guys. "Scott Fenstermaker, the lawyer for accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, said the men would not deny their role in the 2001 attacks but 'would explain what happened and why they did it.'"  It's exactly as I told you: The United States will be on trial.  Eric Holder knows it.  Barack Obama knows it.  It's being done on purpose.  Khalid Sheikh Mohammed knows it and he's happy about it.  Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was in the recording studio over the weekend. The lawyer's got him in there.  We have it exclusively on the EIB Network.  KSM doing Sinatra.

(playing of KSM singing New York, New York parody)

RUSH:  And there you have it, exclusively on the EIB Network: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's New York, New York. That's another brilliant piece by "white comedian" Paul Shanklin.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: George in Chicago, welcome to the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Rush, thanks for taking my call.  I appreciate it.  While there have been a number of issues I'd love to come and talk to you about there's one particular thought I wanted to get into today, most recently over a period of time you've discussed this a number of times, and that is: Why do some Americans hate America?  What could possibly be an explanation?  I've got a certain take on it.  While I don't necessarily agree with the explanations, these might be considered possible explanations.  Now, there's a good and a bad aspect to these explanations.  First of all --

RUSH: Wait a second.  You don't agree with what you're going to just now say?

CALLER:  I don't agree with the explanations.  They are reasoning I'm going to give you for those that I think are America haters, but I believe this is some of their reasoning.  Basically there are some who are simply embarrassed and self-conscious about America's success and influence.  America as we are about to now celebrate, our recollection, has a foundation of being a very modest country in general, not being a particularly braggadocios one for the most part.  And I think the haters take this foundation to an absurd, misguided, and extreme extent in an effort to apologize for our success.  So here a good basic underlying reasoning is convoluted and taken to really stupid and irrational extensions just to help them justify the haters; justify their own, I guess, self-consciousness.  What do you think of that, as at least a possible explanation for some?  Because other than that I can't think of any rational explanation.

RUSH:  So it's psychological?

CALLER:  Yeah.  Yeah.  There are people who feel self-conscious. There's a history in America of essentially being a modest country, and yet there are those who are self-conscious about it they feel they have to go to extremes -- like a Michael Moore -- to find negativism and to apologize for our successes.  And I think it's just a good basic foundation taken to an excessive extent.

RUSH: What...? Who's...?  Are you saying the haters have a good basic foundation, or you talking about the country?

CALLER:  The country does and I think the haters, they pick up on. There's a basic, underlying foundation in America that everybody knows -- even the haters know about -- and they feel self-conscious; and it's part of, essentially, liberals: There's a great self-consciousness that feels they have to go to an opposite extreme, move the pendulum over to offset it.

RUSH:  Yeah, okay. Self-consciousness, guilt.

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  Constantly thinking about themselves.

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  Personalizing everything. When they hear a politician say, "The world hates us," they think they're personally hated and they want to show, "No, no! Don't hate me. I'm a good person. I agree with you: This country sucks."

CALLER:  Right. Right. Agreed.  Because what else could be an explanation for those who, you know, exhibit this kind of activity?

RUSH:  Well --

CALLER:  I think that way underlying there's something inherent.  I've never heard anybody explain this this way.

RUSH:  It depends on how you want to define "rational."  I would contend to you that there are plenty of otherwise rational people who hate the country because of ideology.

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.  Mmm-hmm.

RUSH: They're just socialists, communists or whatever --

CALLER:  Oh, yeah!  Oh, yeah!

RUSH:  -- and they do not like the concept of individual liberty and freedom.  And these are people who have given us modern-day academia. They have given us political correctness.  Political correctness is simply liberal censorship so that they don't have to hear what they don't want to hear, and so that you can't say what you really want to say.  That's all political correctness is, and it's got us by the throat.  Today, people who do not conform to politically correct approaches in saying things -- a person like myself --- look at what is said about these people.  Extremist, racist, bigot, sexist, homophobe. So the greatest casualty with liberalism, the greatest casualty in political correctness is truth -- and that, then, as we're witnessing, leads to an erosion of freedom.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: There's also trouble on the Khalid Sheikh Mohammed trial front.  Have you heard about this?  Germany does not believe in the death penalty.  Germany will probably not, therefore, cooperate.  They hold a lot of the evidence of these guys who masterminded 9/11. Remember Al-Qaeda had a safe house in Germany, and since Obama has gone out there and Holder has gone out there and said, "We're going to seek the death penalty," the Germans are saying, "That's a big problem for us.  We may not feel comfortable here in sharing the evidence that we have with you."  It's also from Der Spiegel:  "The Death Penalty Problem -- 9/11 Trial Puts German-US Relations Under Strain."  I'll tell you who's not under any strain right now, ladies and gentlemen. That would be himself, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.  He went into the recording studio over the weekend. His lawyer says he's gonna plead not guilty because he wants to put the US on trial, exactly as I said, and now the Germans may not cooperate over death penalty issues.

(playing of KSM "New York, New York" parody song)

RUSH:  I know, I know. I know we're going to hear about it.  Don't worry about, folks.  There's an answer, as there always is for everything done on this program.

SNL Goes After Obama's Policies
They made him look like a doofus, and they love him!
November 23, 2009

SNL video at link below.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I mentioned to you, ladies and gentlemen, that they're starting to make fun of President Obama on Saturday Night Live, and they're not making fun of his personality, or his ears, or his big head, or his weight loss, or whatever else, they're making fun of his policies.  Now, from their perspective, they're making fun of his policies because he's not getting them done, they think.  But we'll take it.  Saturday Night Live, they opened the show with a skit parodying Obama who was played by Fred Armisen in a press conference with the ChiCom leader Hu Jintao and here is a portion of the skit.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST (VIA TRANSLATOR):  Are we going to get our money?  Your country is in the middle of a serious recession.

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  Well, uh, while this is true, there are signs that our bailout has steadied the financial markets and our stimulus package has been effective in fixing the, uh, job crisis.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  I'm curious.  How many jobs has it created?

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  So far, none.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  I see.

OBAMA:  But our health care reform plan, we're confident, is going to lead to enormous savings.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  How exactly is extending health care coverage to 30 million people going to save you money?

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  I don't know.

RUSH:  Saturday Night Live making fun of Obama's policies, making him look less-than-intelligent, making him look like a doofus.  Now, remember, Saturday Night Live believed that Obama was going to create jobs.  The liberals over there thought, "Oh, it's going to be the greatest country! The world's going to love us." They bought into all of it and it's not happening.  There's some story out today about home sales, preexisting home sales up 10%.  Guess what?  Ever heard of the first-time homebuyer tax credit?  It's the same thing with Cash for Clunkers.  The real lesson here is that tax cuts cause economic activity.  Cash for Clunkers was a tax cut (that you're going to pay taxes on, by the way. You may not know it.) This $8,000 credit on your mortgage for first-time buyers? It's a tax cut.  But still it isn't real.  It's not real.  It's economic activity that would not have happened were there not incentives thrown in.  This just shows that the incentives that we're using are wrong.  These two little ones here illustrate what we ought to be doing across the board to create jobs, and that is incentivize small businesses to grow, invest, and hire people.  Stop the extension of unemployment benefits.  We'll never do that, but that would be one of the key ingredients.  Here's another portion of that skit from Saturday Night Live.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  And this Cash for Clunkers program, I have read that you purchased many clunkers with our money.

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  Yes, we have.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  What does this word "clunkers" mean?

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  Well, a clunker is a --

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  I know what a clunker is!  And just so there is no misunderstanding, you are not allowed to pay us back in clunkers.

OBAMA IMPRESSIONIST:  Of course not.

HU JINTAO IMPRESSIONIST:  You know, as I listen to you, I am noticing that each of your plans to save money involves spending even more money.  This does not inspire confidence.

RUSH:  Barack Obama roasted, ridiculed, lampooned, impugned by Saturday Night Live.  That's Hu Jintao talking to Obama in a skit parodying their press conference.  "I'm noticing each of your plans to save money involves spending even more money.  This does not inspire confidence."  They're making fun of his policies, folks, not caricaturing his personality or anything like that.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Snerdley's right: There has not been one positive review of Obama's trip anywhere, not even on  Saturday Night Live.  I wonder, by the way (I should have mentioned this earlier), will CNN fact-check the Saturday Night Live skit from last Saturday night?  They did back in early October. They fact-checked a Saturday Night Live skit on Obama.  If they do they'll find that the skit was right on the money. No errors whatsoever.

I wonder why Right-Wing talk-radio and/or media doesn't pick up on the Obama lie story?

Deliver on promises?
Not President Fail.

Take a look at this whopper of a lie:

Rush is right. The reason I was initally attracted to Rush’s program because he dared to call the left to the floor for their lies and outright silliness. Liberals promote what can best be called a modern political mythology. A pantheon of ideas such Global Warming/Radical Environmentalism, Radical Sexual Permissiveness, and Redistributionist policies all based on fictions that not only have proven to be false but horribly destructive.
