WASHINGTON – The White House says President Barack Obama is placing heavy emphasis on how the United States eventually will withdraw from Afghanistan even as he plans to announce a troop increase next week.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that the United States is in its ninth year of military involvement in Afghanistan and "we are not going to be there another eight or nine years."

Gibbs says Obama's recent meetings with military advisers have often focused on how to train Afghanistan's police and army so they can secure and hold areas taken from the Taliban after U.S. forces are gone.

Obama will address the nation Tuesday night on his Afghan strategy from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He will brief key members of Congress earlier that day.

VICTORY is the only exit plan in war.

He said he’s not comfortable with the term “victory” when it comes to armed conflict.

Can you imagine President Roosevelt asking Secretary of War Stimson for his exit plan on December 8, 1941?

Yeah that will work!

Let all the bad guys know how and when you plan to leave. Also, let them know exactly what the game plan is so that they can thwart any plans you have in perpetuity.

Great job liberals! Keep up the great work and while you are at it, destroy what's left of troop morale while to destroy the country.

I've been here before during the Vietnam war, and saw what politicizing a war does to everyone who is trying to win it.

The damage done is forever, and it never gets better.

I am still waiting for the day that I can once and for all redeem myself from the destruction of my own sense of pride in my once loved uniform. Reagan brought us back from the brink, but it's been a slow and steady return to the pits of despair ever since the Dems took Congress in 2006 and even before that with tailhook and the constant attacks on the military from congress.

One day I hope to be one of many who once again defend this country against all enemies both foreign and domestic. I would like to go out with some sense of nobility and valor as opposed to remembering what it is like not to have it at all.

One day soon perhaps, I will get that chance if I am lucky. Nothing would please me more.

I’m sure there’s a parody in here, somewhere, of “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover”

You just slip out the back, Barack.....

You know the answer to that - he said “we won” when people objected to his agenda.

He’s perfectly comfortable with defeating the left’s political enemies, ie, patriotic, traditional Americans.
