Genachowski's frequent treks to White House (FCC Chairman)

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski appeared to have visited executive branch offices 47 times between January 20 and August 31, according the the White House visitors log released today.

By comparison, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner made only five appearances.

Genachowski has had plenty to discuss with White House officials. Future disclosures will likely show a good number of more recent visits to talk about telecom issues--namely, his net neutrality proposals that reportedly caught some top technology and economic officials off-guard.

The visitors log includes visits to the Executive Office Buidling, the Office of Management and Budget, and other White House-affliated offices.

This is a new release of visitor logs, forced by FOIA.

There may be an increased push to control the internet, given how it has been so effective in spreading the truth about "climategate" emails.

Technically this is an unelected official which is not suppose to have any power. Hopefully there will be a strong push back, publicly and legally.

He was just going to the WH to reassure Barry that their plan to dissolve the First Amendment was right on schedule but they needed to get rid of that pesky Second Amendment so there would be no armed opposition. Of course this administration, never letting a crisis go to waste, will have a response (martial law?) to the civil unrest caused by all those protester’s in NY, NY who violently will throw their heads and torsos against the riot squad's batons because they were not truthful in promising to just quietly demonstrate against terrorist's being tried in NY., but actually shouted slogans like they had seen ACORN and SEIU do repeatedly but didn't realize this administration wanted to hear those organization's slogans but not some unruly mob of Patriots.

Doesn't that worry you seeing that those who worked to get Obamalamadingdong elected and those who are in positions of power are more in love with him and his cult like magnetism than they are with this country and it's Constitution? Julius Genachowski --- with Obama at Columbia and Harvard

This time, the post is chairman of the FCC, which has been in censorship overdrive ever since Janet-Jackson-boob-gate, and the nominee is Julius Genachowski, CC '85.

Genachowski not only overlapped with Obama's two years at Columbia, but also was his Harvard law school classmate, working under Obama at the Harvard Law Review.

He has already served as General Consul Counsel to the FCC in the mid 90s, but is in fact best known for his technology experience, including "spearheading Obama's online campaign strategy, which used social networking and other tools to spread Obama's campaign message and raise record campaign contributions."

Not exactly the case with the Federal Communications Commission, at least not according the the Communications Act — which establishes the FCC as an independent regulatory agency.

The President appoints the FCC Chairman, to be sure. But as a strict legal matter, the Chairman and the other Commissioners are not under control of the Executive. They are tasked by law with making independent judgments, which are supposed to be based only on the evidence presented formally to them under terms of the Administrative Procedure Act.

(But then, the “Chicago Way” doesn’t necessarily imply faithful adherence to the law!)

I think you’re right. He was a bundler. His school ties to Obama aren’t generally known and rarely discussed.

Oprah, Health Care Lobbyists, Among Recent Visitors to White House

The records reveal a large number of visits by people involved at the highest levels of the debate over health care reform, including top industry lobbyists, lawmakers and key stakeholders. Among the most notable guests – the president of the AMA, Dr. James Rohack, chief executive of AARP, Barry Rand and Ezekiel Emanuel, Rahm Emanuel’s brother and a medical ethicist and special advisor to the White House on health care.

According to the Associated Press’ count, the most frequent visitor was Lee Sachs, the man at the Treasury Department tapped to grapple with the financial crisis.
